Headingley Bear Pit

Leeds Zoological and Botanical Gardens, also known as Headingley Zoo and later Leeds Royal Gardens, was open between 1840 and 1858 in Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, approximately two miles out of the city centre and covering the area now occupied by Cardigan Road. It was established following an idea by Dr Disney Thorpe, designed by William Billinton, a Wakefield architect, and built by public subscription during the 1830s. The zoo was never particularly successful; only part of the envisioned landscape plan was built and it remained in debt for the whole of its existence. The Gardens closed for the first time in December 1848 but were auctioned and then operated for a further ten years before final closure. The site was redeveloped for the construction of Cardigan Road and large villas. There are very few traces of the zoo and gardens now, but remaining artefacts include the Bear Pit, much of the original stone perimeter wall along Chapel Lane, which are both Grade II listed, and many mature trees in what are now private gardens.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church is a Roman Catholic church in the parish of St Jeanne Jugan, Leeds. It was built by the Society of Jesus in the 1920s and it is situated on Cardigan Road in Burley, Leeds.

Headingley Parish Church or the Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels in Headingley, a suburb of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England is a Victorian Church of England parish church. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Burley Park railway station in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is the first stop on the Harrogate Line, 2.25 miles (3.6 km) north west of Leeds railway station towards Harrogate and York. The station was opened on 28 November 1988 by British Rail. The line is heavily used by commuters into Leeds. It is also near the Headingley Stadium for rugby and cricket fans when Headingley station is busy. It is near to the districts of Burley, Hyde Park and the southern end of Headingley. The journey time to Headingley station is 2 minutes, and around 5 minutes to Leeds station, which is typically much faster than driving or taking the bus. This station is near to main bus routes on Cardigan Road, Burley Road and Kirkstall Road, and parking is limited to the surrounding streets. The station occasionally plays the role of Hotten railway station in the TV series Emmerdale.

Brudenell School also known originally as Brudenell Council School was a mixed school for infants, juniors and seniors, on Welton Road in the Hyde Park area of Leeds, England. The large and impressive Victorian building dated from before 1900, and was demolished around 1990. A modern Primary School, built in 1992, now exists on the site.

Skyrack was a wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was split into upper and lower divisions and centred in Headingley, Leeds. The Lower Division included the parishes of Aberford, Bardsey, Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Thorner, Whitkirk and part of Harewood, while the Upper Division included the parishes of Adel, Bingley, Guiseley and parts of Harewood, Ilkley and Otley. The Upper division of Skyrack was bounded to the north by the River Wharfe whilst the southern edge was bounded by the River Aire. Both divisions together contained 82 settlements.The Skyrack wapentake derives its name from a large oak that grew for centuries in Headingley. It is believed that the word "skyrack" comes from the Old English phrase scir ac meaning "Shire Oak", under which meetings were held. The tree finally collapsed in 1941. There is a plaque to commemorate it on the outside of the garden wall of the Original Oak pub. It also gives its name to the Skyrack pub opposite the Original Oak. The pub, which is one of the stopping points on the Otley Run pub crawl, is a grade II listed building.

The Golden Beam is a pub and Grade II listed building located in the Headingley area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was built in c. 1912 for the Church of Christ, Scientist, and was known as the Elinor Lupton Centre from 1986 to 2010 when it was a school arts centre. It was designed by Piet de Jong and William Peel Schofield from the architectural firm Schofield and Berry. Constructed in white Portland stone in a mixed style of Egyptian Revival and Art Deco, it was originally built as a Sunday school in c. 1912–1914, extended in the 1930s with a church building and then used by the Leeds Girls' High School as a theatre and music centre from 1986 until 2010. The structure has architectural significance in the locality due to its distinct style and use of materials; many original features and fittings survive, including the entrance foyer, two staircases and a glazed lantern in the auditorium roof. The building was unoccupied between 2010 and 2021, with windows and doors boarded up and elevations disfigured by graffiti. The building was included in the 2018 Heritage at Risk Register by Leeds Civic Trust, where it was given 'vulnerable' status. The current owner, JD Wetherspoon, put forward proposals for conversion into a pub and hotel which were locally controversial, with the project facing a planning enquiry and licensing difficulties. Planning permission and an alcohol licence were granted by the City Council in 2020, and the building was converted into a large pub, named The Golden Beam after a painting by Atkinson Grimshaw, which opened June 2021.

Hyde Park is an inner-city residential area of north-west Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, situated between the University of Leeds and Headingley. It sits in the Headingley and Hyde Park ward of Leeds City Council. The area is in the centre of the city's student community, being next to Headingley, another large student community. There are also many full-time, long-term, non-student families and single people, and a sizable South Asian community. Before the dense speculative developments of red brick terraced housing in the late Victorian era, the area was the site of the Leeds Royal Park pleasure ground, quarries, and fields in the estate of the Earl of Cardigan. The Hyde Park name was extended to the new neighbourhoods from Hyde Park Corner on the A660, with that nucleus historically being known as Wrangthorn.

Headingley Castle is a large house and Grade II listed building off Headingley Lane, Headingley, Leeds, now converted into flats.

The Otley Run is the name given to a pub crawl in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The popular route covers Far Headingley, Headingley and Hyde Park areas and commonly continues towards Leeds City Centre. Today's Otley Run is seen as a rite of passage for students studying at Leeds' universities and its modern route features in a London Underground style pub map of Leeds designed by former graphic design student Steve Lovell. Participants now often wear fancy dress, coordinating their costumes to a particular theme.

The former St Margaret of Antioch's Church building is situated on Cardigan Road, Headingley, West Yorkshire, England, near Burley Park railway station. It is an example of Late Gothic Revival church architecture, and it was built in the first few years of the twentieth century, being consecrated in 1909. It was built in the Parish of Burley to serve the population of the newly built red-brick terrace houses in the area, part of the late Victorian expansion of Leeds. Whilst a functioning Anglican Church, it had an Anglo-Catholic flavour. It is a Grade II* listed building, and was designed by Temple Moore. It was rescued from dereliction by a group of local Christians who turned it into an arts and creative space called Left Bank Leeds.

Leeds Central and Headingley is a constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it was first contested in the 2024 general election. The seat is currently represented by Alex Sobel of the Labour Party.
