The Townsend Farmhouse is a historic residence near Hollywood, Alabama, United States. The farm is situated at the base of Poorhouse Mountain, and consists of the main house, built circa 1870; a two-room log house, built circa 1860 and today used for storage; and several outbuildings dating from the mid-20th century and later. The center-hall house has a gable roof, with a tall, cross-gable pediment. The exterior is clad in clapboard atop the rough-cut limestone block foundation. Two limestone chimneys project from the gable ends. The front porch and entry exhibit Folk Victorian details. A three-bay ell extends from the rear of the house. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Pikeville is an unincorporated community in northern Jackson County, Alabama, United States. Pikeville is named for the fact that the community was located at the head of a turnpike.

Hollywood is a town in Jackson County, northeast Alabama, United States. In 2020, the census showed a population of 914 residents. Hollywood is considered a suburb of Scottsboro, the county seat. The town is the site of the Tennessee Valley Authority's never-completed Bellefonte Nuclear Generating Station. The TVA sold the plant, and as of 2018, it is to be developed by private interests.

Fackler, also known as Flackler, Facler, or Fackler's Station, is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Alabama, United States. Fackler is located on the former Memphis and Charleston Railroad, and its post office was established in 1869. During the Chattanooga Campaign of the American Civil War, the 90th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment was based out of Fackler. Phillip Hamman, known as "The Savior of Greenbrier", was formerly buried near Fackler, on the grounds of his plantation home at Hammon Hollow in Inglis-Middleton Cemetery. (Hammon is another popular spelling of his name.)

The Scottsboro Memphis and Charleston Depot is a historic train station in Scottsboro, Alabama, USA. Built in 1861 on the eve of the American Civil War, the depot is one of three remaining antebellum depots in Alabama built by the Memphis and Charleston Railroad, and the only one outside Huntsville. On January 8, 1865, it was the site of a skirmish between members of the 101st and 110th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment and Confederate forces which resulted in the retreating rebels setting fire it. After being heavily damaged during the war, the rail line and depot became operational again in 1866. While the line and depot changed hands several times in the late 1800s, the depot served both passengers and freight until 1892, when a separate passenger depot was constructed by the East Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia Railway. The depot continued to service freight until it was closed by Norfolk Southern in the 1980s. Restoration began in 1991 and today it houses the Scottsboro Depot Museum. The building is divided into a 30 x 46 foot (9 x 14 m) freight room and a 30 x 18 foot (9 x 5.5 m) office. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Public Square Historic District is a historic district in Scottsboro, Alabama. Although Scottsboro had been the county seat of Jackson County since 1870, the town's earliest commercial development was centered on the Memphis and Charleston Railroad line, one block north of the square. After an 1881 fire along the rail line, some businesses began to rebuild around the square. Once the Tennessee Valley Authority brought prosperity to the region in the 1930s, development around the courthouse began to accelerate. The current Jackson County Courthouse was built in 1912 with matching Classical Revival porticos on two sides. Commercial buildings around the square are one or two stories and all of brick. While most are built in simple, lightly decorated commercial styles, some late 19th-century buildings have Victorian detailing. The district was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1981 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The College Hill Historic District is a historic district in Scottsboro, Alabama. The neighborhood was the first subdivision to be platted in Scottsboro. The area takes its name from the Scott Male and Female Academy, which was built in 1878. The site has been occupied by schools since; the present building was constructed in the 1930s and currently houses the administration offices of the Scottsboro Board of Education. The district contains 14 houses, 10 of which were built between 1890 and 1929, three in the 1930s, and one in the 1970s. The earlier houses are primarily Vernacular styles, although the later construction includes Bungalow and English Cottage-style houses popular at the time. The district was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1982 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Scottsboro City Schools is a public school district in Scottsboro, Alabama. In the Scottsboro City School system, there are about 2,450 students, divided among five different schools, as well as an alternative school. Each school has its own mascot, such as the Brownwood Beaver. However, the Scottsboro Wildcat is the one mascot the whole city shares.

The Scottsboro Boys Museum is located at 428 West Willow Street in Scottsboro, Alabama, in the United States. Its focus is on the Scottsboro Boys case, which involved nine young African American falsely accused in 1931 of raping two white women while hoboing aboard a freight train.
