The Gilliland-Reese Covered Bridge, more simply known as Gilliland's Covered Bridge, is a locally owned wooden covered bridge that spans a small pond near Black Creek in Etowah County, Alabama, United States. It is located at Noccalula Falls Park off Noccalula Road (State Route 211) in the city of Gadsden. Coordinates are 34°02′21.79″N 86°01′26.93″W (34.039386, -86.024147). Noccalula Falls Park is also home to the 90-foot (27 m) Noccalula Falls, part of Black Creek as it cascades down into a ravine from a ledge off Lookout Mountain. There are a couple of sources which state the bridge spans Clayton Fish Pond, but that is over a mile (2 kilometers) west of the park along a rural section of Hinds Road. Built in 1899, the 85-foot (26 m) bridge is a Stringer construction over a single span. Its current WGCB number is 01-28-C, formerly 01-28-02. Although most sources spell the second part of the name as "Reese," it is actually named after the town of Reece City where the bridge was originally located. There is an admission charge to visit Noccalula Falls Park (Noccalula Falls itself is excluded), which also includes a pioneer village along with a botanical garden. The bridge is maintained by the City of Gadsden.

Noccalula Falls Park is a 250-acre (101-ha) public park located in Gadsden, Alabama, United States. The main feature of the park is a 90-foot (27-m) waterfall. Trails wind through Black Creek Gorge past caves, an aboriginal fort, an abandoned dam, pioneer homestead, and Civil War carvings. The park also features a petting zoo, mini-golf course, the Gilliland-Reese Covered Bridge (built 1899) and a replica 1863 C. P. Huntington train ride. Noccalula Falls Park was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on May 12, 1976. It was rated in 2017 as the best campsite in Alabama in a 50-state survey conducted by Msn.com.The falls drop itself has been run successfully in whitewater kayaks on multiple occasions, beginning in late November 2011 when three expert kayakers ran the drop. The water level was unusually high, permitting a deep enough pool to form at the base of the falls. Local law enforcement has since issued citations to paddlers for running the falls, as the state does not consider this stretch a state-owned water bottom. The Noccalula Falls Botanical Gardens displays over 25,000 azaleas.

The Noojin House (also known as the Noojin–Robinson House, the Bellevue-Mineral Springs Hotel Site, and the Jones Female College Site) is a historic house in Gadsden, Alabama, United States. The house was built in 1926 and substantially renovated and expanded in 1940–41 in French Eclectic style. The two-story three-bay original façade has a centered entrance covered by a copper awning. To the left (west) of the entrance is a two-story arched window. The recessed 1940s one-and-a-half-story addition is further to the left, with a porch under a gable roof with three dormers flanked by a porte-cochère connecting to a garage. A 1980s addition enclosed the rear porch into a grand room with views of the city and the Coosa River. Also on the property are the ruins of a building that housed the Bellevue Hotel from 1889 to 1895, the Jones Female College from 1895 to 1897, and the Mineral Spring Hotel from 1901 to 1912. After the building burned in 1912, the site was still used as a community gathering site until the house was built in 1926. The foundation and other stone and brick walls remain; four stone columns along the house's driveway are believed to be constructed from the hotel's rubble. The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 2008 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

Reece City is a town in Etowah County, Alabama, United States. It was incorporated in May 1956. It is part of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2020 census, the population was 615.

The Howard Gardner Nichols Memorial Library (also called Alabama City Library) is a historic building in Gadsden, Alabama, United States. The library was built in 1902 by the Nichols family, owners of the Dwight Manufacturing Company. It is named in honor of their son, who was badly injured while supervising the construction of the company's mill in what was then Alabama City. He died several days later.The library is the home of NEAGS, the NorthEast Alabama Genealogical Society, and houses over 5,000 family files as well as family books and many references for the counties in northeast Alabama. Also found are Civil War and Revolutionary War references as well as books on genealogy and history of states close to Alabama. The building housed the first lending library in the state of Alabama. At one time it was a day care center for the mill workers' children. It also was a lawyer's office. Now the library is solely owned by NEAGS, dedicated to genealogy research. The building is similar in scale to the mill workers' houses that surround it, but its location on a corner lot and blend of Classical Revival and Victorian design make it a focal point of the neighborhood. It has a steeply pitched hip roof with deep, bracketed eaves. The façade is anchored by a semi-circular portico supported by six Ionic columns, flanked by windows with lancet arched upper sashes. It was purchased and restored in 1973 by the NorthEast Alabama Genealogical Society. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Emma Sansom High School (opened 1929 – closed 2006) was a high school located in Gadsden, Alabama. It was named for a young girl (Emma Sansom) who was credited with helping General Nathan Bedford Forrest to cross Black Creek in Gadsden, Alabama and get his troops ahead of Union troops, thus stopping an impending attack upon Rome, Georgia during the Civil War.

Alabama City is a former city and now a neighborhood within the city of Gadsden in Etowah County, Alabama, United States. It was equidistant between Gadsden and Attalla, Alabama, approximately 2 1/2 miles west of downtown Gadsden.

The Alabama City Wall Street Historic District is a historic district in Gadsden, Alabama. Wall Street was the main commercial street in the town of Alabama City. The city was founded in 1891 halfway between Gadsden and Attalla, with intentions of becoming the major industrial hub of Northeast Alabama. In 1895 the town landed its first major concern, a cotton mill built by the Dwight Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Its second major factory, the Alabama Steel and Wire Company, was opened in 1902. By 1915, a thriving commercial district had grown up around 7th Avenue, which became known as "Little Wall Street". A fire in 1927 damaged or destroyed many structures along Wall Street and Meighan Avenue. The city would never recover from the loss, especially as neighboring Gadsden flourished; Alabama City voted to merge into Gadsden in 1932. The architecture of the district represent the changing commercial styles of the 1910s through the 1930s. Most are constructed in simple, brick styles with parapet roofs, some with more decorative brickwork. Art Deco-influenced features such as terra cotta coping and glass tile accents are present on later buildings. Other notable buildings are an Art Deco fire station (built 1936) and the Classical Revival library (built 1938). The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Forrest Cemetery Chapel and Comfort Station (also known as the Ruth Cross Memorial Chapel) are historic structures in Gadsden, Alabama. The chapel, comfort station, and cemetery gates were built in 1935 by workers from the Works Progress Administration, and designed by local architect Paul W. Hofferbert, who also designed the Legion Park Bowl. The chapel is designed in Gothic Revival style, with a steeply pitched gable with three lancet arched windows and a square tower with lancet arch opening for the entrance. The front gate columns and wall are connected to a hipped roof comfort building, which originally housed restrooms, but is now used for storage. All three are constructed of rough-cut sandstone blocks quarried from nearby Lookout Mountain. The buildings were listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1988 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Eleventh Street School is a historic building in Gadsden, Alabama. Built in 1907, it is the oldest surviving public school in Gadsden. An addition of 8 classrooms, a lunchroom, and two other rooms was added in 1926. The building operated as a school until 1962, and later served as an adult education center and storage and offices for the city board of education. The building is two stories with a partially above-ground basement. The façade has stone steps leading to a shallow portico, with two Ionic columns supporting a denticulated cornice. Above the portico sits a Palladian window. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Charles Gunn House (also known as the Bellenger Home) is a historic residence in Gadsden, Alabama. The house was built in 1886 by Edward Tracy Hollingsworth, a local merchant and banker. Charles Logan Gunn, a dentist, purchased the house in 1901. His daughter, Carolyn Gunn Bellenger inherited the house, and willed it to the city upon her death in 1990. The city restored the house and now rents it for meetings and events.The highly decorated Victorian house has a mansard roof with projecting gable atop a bay window on the north and east sides. The façade also features a wraparound porch with latticework balustrade. The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1984 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Colonel O. R. Hood House is a historic residence in Gadsden, Alabama. The house was built in 1904 by Oliver Roland Hood, an attorney, politician, industrialist, and one of the founders of the Alabama Power Company. He was also a delegate to the state's 1901 constitutional convention. It was designed and constructed by architect/builder James Crisman. Upon Hood's death in 1951, the house was purchased by the Woman's Club of Gadsden, a community service organization. The house is built in Classical Revival style with some Victorian details. The façade is dominated by a double-height portico supported by four Ionic columns. The front door is flanked by wide sidelights and a tall transom. The house also has two side entrances on octagonal bays at the rear of each side. The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
