The Fifth Avenue Hotel (The Fifth) is a luxury hotel on the corner of 28th Street and Fifth Avenue, in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. The hotel opened in October 2023.

The Marble Collegiate Church, founded in 1628, is one of the oldest continuous Protestant congregations in North America. The facade is covered in Tuckahoe marble, for which the church, originally called the Fifth Avenue Church, was renamed in 1906.The building was designated a New York City landmark in 1967, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Hotel Victoria was built by Paran Stevens in 1877 in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Occupying the entire block on 27th Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue, it was the only hotel in the city with entrances on both the latter thoroughfares. The hotel was owned by the American Hotel Victoria Company. George W. Sweeney served as president and Angus Gordon was manager. In 1911, it was announced that the hotel had been redecorated, renovated, and refurnished at a cost of $250,000. Room options included without bath, with bath, and suites with rates ranging between $1.50 and $6.00 per day. Accommodations were available for 500 guests.The hotel closed its doors on February 26, 1914. The furnishings were sold at auction the same day. The demolition was to make way for an office and loft building on the site after the hotel was torn down.

The restaurant of the same name was conceived by chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara of nearby Eleven Madison Park. The hotel is sometimes referred to as NoMad New York to differentiate from its sister locations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The building is a contributing property to the Madison Square North Historic District, a New York City Landmark. The hotel was conceived by Andrew Zobler, Founder and CEO of the Sydell Group. The company's portfolio includes NoMd Los Angeles, NoMad Las Vegas, the LINE LA, DC and Austin, Freehand New York, LA, Miami, and Chicago, The Ned London, Park MGM Las Vegas, and the Saguaro Palm Springs and Scottsdale. The hotel has 12 floors and a Beaux-Arts facade. The interior was designed by French architect Jacques Garcia, inspired by the Parisian apartment of his youth. It was named after the relatively new NoMad neighborhood during a period of popularity.

The Madison Square North Historic District is in Manhattan, New York City, and was created on June 26, 2001 by the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission.Lying north and west of Madison Square Park, the district's boundaries are irregular. The main southern boundary is 26th Street between Madison Avenue almost to the Avenue of the Americas ("Sixth Avenue"), but a portion of 25th Street, from Fifth Avenue to somewhat west of Broadway, is included. On the north, the district goes no further than 29th Street, but portions of it stop at 28th Street or between 27th Street and 28th Street. From east to west, the district is entirely between Madison and Sixth Avenues, without encompassing the entirety of any of these blocks. According to the Commission's Designation Report, the District: consists of approximately 96 buildings representing the period of New York City's commercial history from the 1870s to the 1930s when this section prospered, first, as a major entertainment district of hotels, clubs, stores and apartment buildings, and then, as a mercantile district of high-rise office and loft structures. ... [T]he district also contains numerous row houses, Art-Deco style towers, as well as modest twentieth-century commercial structures, all of which testify to each successive phase in [the] area's development. The Historic District lies primarily within the Manhattan neighborhood known as NoMad, for "NOrth of MADison Square Park".

NoMad ("North of Madison Square Park"), also known as Madison Square North, is a neighborhood centered on the Madison Square North Historic District in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. The name NoMad, which has been in use since 1999, is derived from the area’s location north of Madison Square Park. The neighborhood is bordered by East 25th Street to the south, East 29th or East 30th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) to the west and Madison or Lexington Avenue to the east. The surrounding neighborhoods are Chelsea to the west, Midtown South to the northwest, Murray Hill to the northeast, Rose Hill to the east, and the Flatiron District to the south. NoMad is part of Manhattan Community District 5.

Holland House was a New York City hotel located at 274–276 Fifth Avenue at the southwest corner of 30th Street in NoMad, Manhattan, New York City, with a frontage of 250 feet (76 m) on Fifth Avenue. The architects and designers were George Edward Harding & Gooch. A mercantile building by the 1920s, in the present day, it is a loft building.The Holland House opened in 1892. It was a large building of Indiana limestone, 100 by 150 feet (30 m × 46 m). Special interest was attached to it as it was a careful reproduction of Holland House of London. It contained the coat-of-arms of Henry Rich, the first Earl of Holland, with the decorations and historic features of the Kensington mansion. The house was one of the architectural features of Fifth Avenue. The facade, which had little decoration, was broken with a portico 50 feet (15 m) in length, supported upon four columns, four rows of bay windows, and other windows set in embrasures and arches. Two features of the interior were the large dining-room and a long promenade in the second story. The house was ten stories high, and had 350 rooms.

The 28th Street station is a local station on the BMT Broadway Line of the New York City Subway, located at 28th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. It is served by the R train at all times except late nights, the W train on weekdays, the N train during late nights and weekends and the Q train during late nights.
