Hallgrímskirkja (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhatl̥ˌkrimsˌcʰɪr̥ca], Church of Hallgrímur) is a Lutheran (Church of Iceland) parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 74.5 metres (244 ft) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland and among the tallest structures in the country. Known for its distinctively curved spire and side wings, it has been described as having become an important symbol for Iceland's national identity since its completion in 1986 The church is named after the Icelandic poet and cleric Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674), author of the Passion Hymns.

Tækniskólinn (lit. Technical College) is an upper secondary school in Reykjavík, Iceland, providing both vocational and specialized programmes. It was formed in 2008 through the merger of its two predecessors: Iðnskólinn í Reykjavík and Fjöltækniskólinn. Laugavegur (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈlœiːɣaˌvɛːɣʏr̥]) is the primary commercial artery of downtown Reykjavík, Iceland and one of the oldest shopping streets. The name means "wash road", as it used to lead to the hot springs in Laugardalur where in olden times the women of Reykjavík took their laundry for washing. It was constructed in 1885 as a result of town council's decision. It experienced economic setbacks mostly because shopping malls opened elsewhere, most notably Kringlan that opened in 1987 and Smáralind that opened in 2001. It maintains the charm of a historical shopping street and is still home to the more exclusive stores in Iceland. It is also home to many bars, nightclubs and restaurants. On Friday and Saturday nights, the street is often filled with people all night long.

Landspítalinn also operates the psychiatric hospital Kleppur.

Hegningarhúsið (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhɛkniŋkarˌhuːsɪθ], "The Penalty House") at Skólavörðustígur 9 in Reykjavík was a prison run by the Icelandic Prison Service. Built in 1872 by the designs of G. Ch. W. Klentz, it was the oldest prison in Iceland. All operations in Hegningarhúsið ceased on 1 June 2016. The origins of the Icelandic phrase "going to the stone" (fara í steininn) is purportedly due to the stone interiors of this prison.It was last used as a reception prison, where prisoners stayed for a short period of time when at the beginning of serving a sentence. The house was designated as historic property in 1978.There were 16 prison cells in Hegningarhúsið, small and narrow with poor ventilation. The cells were without toilets and sinks.

Dill is a New Nordic restaurant in Reykjavík, opened in 2009. It was the first restaurant in Iceland to be awarded a Michelin star, in 2017.

The Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources (Icelandic: Umhverfis- og auðlindaráðuneytið) is an Icelandic cabinet-level ministry founded 23 February 1990. It was originally called the Ministry for the Environment but was renamed to its current name on 1 September 2012. The Ministry oversees a wide range of matters as they relate to the environment, including nature conservation, wildlife protection, forest protection and revegitation efforts, environmental impact assessment and land use planning, pollution control and environmental health, fire prevention, meteorology, and mapping, including surveying and remote sensing. The current Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources is Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson.

Reykjavík City Center (Icelandic: Miðborg [ˈmɪðˌpɔrk], Miðbær [ˈmɪðˌpaiːr̥], and sometimes Austurbær [ˈœistʏrˌpaiːr̥]) is a sub-municipal administrational district that covers much of the central part Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. The district includes six neighbourhoods: Kvos [ˈkʰvɔːs], Grjótaþorp [ˈkrjouːtaˌθɔr̥p], Skólavörðuholt [ˈskouːlaˌvœrðʏˌhɔl̥t], Þingholt [ˈθiŋkˌhɔl̥t], Skuggahverfi [ˈskʏkkaˌkʰvɛrvɪ] and Vatnsmýri [ˈvassˌmiːrɪ].

Vatnsstígur 16-18 is a residential tower located in downtown Reykjavík, Iceland. It is a part of a larger project called Shadow district (Icelandic: Skuggahverfi) under phase 2. This tower is the tallest residential tower in Reykjavík, standing 69.35 m (227.5 ft) tall. construction of phase 2 was delayed due to the financial crisis in 2008, and therefore was not completed on schedule.

The Icelandic Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (Icelandic: Iðnaðarráðuneytið) is one of the cabinet-level government ministries responsible for Iceland's economy. It shares that responsibility with the Ministry of Business Affairs (responsible for banking and trade) and the Ministry of Fisheries (fishing making up some 40% of Iceland's exports).
