Macroom Town Hall (Irish: Halla an Bhaile Maigh Chromtha) is a municipal building in West Square at Macroom, County Cork, Ireland. It is currently used by Cork County Council for the delivery of local services.

Macroom (; Irish: Maigh Chromtha) is a market town in County Cork, Ireland, located in the valley of the River Sullane, halfway between Cork city and Killarney. Its population has grown and receded over the centuries as it went through periods of war, famine and workhouses, forced emigration and intermittent prosperity. The 2011 census gave an urban population of 3,879 people, while the 2016 census recorded 3,765 people. Macroom began as a meeting place for the druids of Munster. It is first mentioned is in 6th-century records, and the immediate area hosted a major battle c. 987 involving the Irish king Brian Boru. During the middle ages, the town was invaded by a succession of warring clans, including the Murcheatach Uí Briain and Richard de Cogan families. In the early modern period the MacCarthy's took control and later the area found prosperity via milling. The MacCarthys built a series of tower houses, some of which survive. The family lost influence during the Williamite wars of the 1690s, after which authority over the town castle waxed and waned between the MacCarthys and a number of Anglo-Irish families. The population fell in the 1840s during the Great Famine. Evidence can be found in the former workhouse, now the district hospital at the north side of New Street, and the mass graveyard to the west, near Clondrohid. During the late 18th and early 19th century, a number of Anglo-Irish families, and a branch of the Massey family, settled in the area. Many of their estate houses were burned in the period around the Irish War of Independence as the town was caught up in the turmoil of IRA activity. Today the town is an economic hub for the mid-Cork region, and the location of a Danone milk processing factory, which dries and cans infant formula from milk supplied by local dairy farmers. Until the 1950s, New Street was the town's economic hub, and contained many small retail outlets.

Macroom Castle, in the centre of the town of Macroom, was once residence and fortress of the Lords of Muskerry. The castle has changed owners many times, has been besieged, burned, and rebuilt. The MacCarthys of Muskerry owned it with some interruptions from about 1353 when Muskerry was given to Dermot MacCarthy, 1st Lord of Muskerry, until 1691 when Donogh MacCarthy, 4th Earl of Clancarty lost it definitively. What remains of the castle is a gatehouse on the town square and a ruin near the bridge over the River Sullane. This ruin comprises an old tower, everything else dates from an early 19th-century rebuild by Robert Hedges Eyre.

The Battle of Macroom was a skirmish fought on 10 May 1650, near Macroom, County Cork, in southern Ireland, during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. An English Parliamentarian force under Roger Boyle, (Lord Broghill), defeated an Irish Confederate force under David Roche.

Macroom GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town and surrounding parish of Macroom in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with Cork GAA county board and the Muskerry GAA divisional board. The club has been one of the most successful Gaelic football clubs in Cork having won the Cork Senior Football Championship ten times and having contributed numerous players to Cork GAA football teams.

Carrigaphooca Stone Circle is a stone circle and National Monument located in County Cork, Ireland. It is situated 4.4 km (2.7 mi) west of Macroom, immediately east of Carrigaphooca Castle, north of the N22, and near the confluence of the River Sullane and River Foherish. The name means "stone of the púca" (ghost or fairy).There were five stones: four standing and one inclined, but now only three remain. The circle's diameter was approximately 5.5 m (18 ft).

Clondrohid (Irish: Cluain Droichead, meaning 'meadow of the bridge') is a village and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland, four miles (6 km) north of Macroom. As of the 2022 census, the population of the village was recorded as 180, down slightly from 188 people as of the 2011 census.

Carrigaphooca Castle (Irish: Caisleán Charraig a' Phúca meaning "castle on the rock of the fairy"; the word púca translates as ghost or fairy) is a ruined five storey rectangular tower house situated on a steep-sided rock overlooking the River Sullane. It is located 6 km west of Macroom, County Cork, Ireland, in an area once known as Gleann na n-Dearg ("valley of the reds"). The tower dominates the landscape of Lissacresig (Fairyland) in Clondrohid, and Lower Shanballyshane, in Kilnamartyra. Carrigaphooca is made of sandstone and limestone and was built as a defensive tower by the MacCarthys of Muskerry in the early 15th century.Carrigaphooca is positioned in an area rich with neolithic monuments; Carrigaphooca Stone Circle lies two fields to the east, with a large standing stone (gallán) to the west. The tower is located on private property, and is no longer accessible to the public, although it is owned by the state and maintained by the Office of Public Works.

Ballinagree (Irish: Baile na Graí), sometimes Ballynagree, is a small village situated at the foot of the Boggeragh Mountains in County Cork, Ireland. It is located in Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne, in the Parish of Aghinagh, which also has Rusheen, Bealnamorive and parts of Carrigadrohid in it. Ballinagree is part of the Cork North-West (Dáil constituency). Ballinagree and its surrounding area comprise one of the richest areas in northern Europe for Megalithic monuments. It is located 18 miles (29 km) west of Cork city, 10 km north east of Macroom, 6 km west of Rylane, 13 km north west of Coachford, 17 km south east of Millstreet and 20 km west of Blarney. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a number of housing estates were developed, but the properties were not sold; leaving the village with so-called "ghost estates".It is known as the residence of the subject of the Irish folk song "Thady Quill".

Carrigadrohid Lake is a lake on the River Lee in County Cork in the south of Ireland. Standing upstream (west) of Carrigadrohid village, it is a reservoir created for the Carrigadrohid hydroelectric power station, which was built in the 1950s. The lake is a fishery for bream, rudd, roach, northern pike and perch.

Dooniskey railway station was on the Cork and Macroom Direct Railway in County Cork, Ireland.

Carriganima or Carriganimmy (Irish: Carraig an Ime) is a village in the Barony of Muskerry, County Cork, Ireland, situated approximately 11 km northwest of Macroom and 10 km south of Millstreet. The village lies in a valley between the Boggeragh and Derrynasaggart mountain ranges. Local townlands include Carriganima (Carraig an Ime), Knockraheen (Cnoc Raithín), Cusloura (Cois Labhra), Glendav (Gleann Daimh), Glantane East & West (Gleanntán) and Moanflugh (An Muine Fliuch). The townlands of Glendav (Gleann Daimh), Lisscarrigane (Lios Carragáin), and Labbadermody (Leaba Dhiarmada) are included in the Muskerry Gaeltacht (Gaeltacht Mhúscraí). Carriganimmy is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.
