North Long Street–Park Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 46 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Salisbury. It was developed largely between about 1890 and 1925, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.Notable buildings include the McCubbins-McCanless-Clark House (c. 1890), Misenhimer-Rufty House (1904), D.C. Bradshaw House, Ellington-Brown House, Coggin-Ludwig House, and Park Ave United Methodist Church (1916).

The district encompasses 65 contributing buildings in predominantly residential section of Salisbury. It largely developed between about 1875 and 1925, and includes notable examples of Federal, Greek Revival, and Late Victorian style architecture. Notable buildings include the Woodson-Overcash House (c. 1840), Blackmer-Propst House (c. 1856), Mowery-Peeler House (c. 1880), Keen-Bastian House (c. 1895), William Trott House (1905), J. W. Glover House (1920s), Cross-Crowell-Rufty Store (1920s), Burges-Lyerly-Fifty/Fifty Store (1920s), and the former St. Peter's Episcopal Church.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Bernhardt House, also known as the Paul Mathias Bernhardt House, is a historic home located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. It was built in 1882 and remodeled in 1902, and is a two-story, center-hall/double-pile plan, Italian Villa-style frame dwelling. It features arch-headed windows with heavy projecting hoods, an L-shaped porch, and bracketed eaves and gables. A rear addition was built in 1948 and the house was converted to four rental apartments. Its builder Paul Mathias Bernhardt (1846–1922) was a son of George Matthias Bernhardt (1820–1885), who built the George Matthias Bernhardt House near Rockwell, North Carolina.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Salisbury Railroad Corridor Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 37 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site consisting primarily of railroad-related and commercial buildings. It largely developed during the first half of the 20th century, and includes notable examples of Mission Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Salisbury Southern Railroad Passenger Depot designed by Frank Pierce Milburn. Other notable buildings include the Cheerwine/Carolina Beverage Corporation Building (1913), Yadkin Hotel (1913), Frick Building (c. 1905), Boyden-Overman Company Cotton Warehouse (c. 1910), and Old Freight Depot (c. 1907).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, with a boundary increase in 2003.

Salisbury National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in the city of Salisbury, in Rowan County, North Carolina. It was established at the site of burials of Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War while held at a Confederate prisoner of war camp at the site. Now administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 65 acres (26 ha), 15 acres (6.1 ha) in the original location and 50 acres (20 ha) at an annex. More than 30 acres were added to the annex in 2020 as a result of a donation by the YMCA.As of 2012 the cemetery had 6500 interments (in 6000 standard graves, many of which also hold a spouse), plus an estimated 3,800 in 18 mass graves at the original location. There are 5000 interments, in 4500 graves, in the new location. As of 2020 a total of 26,000 veterans and family members were buried in both locations.

Other notable buildings include the tower of the former First Presbyterian Church (1891-1893), Rowan County Courthouse (1914), Conrad Brem House, Kluttz's Drug Store (c. 1859), Bell Building (c. 1900), Washington Building (c. 1900), Grubb-Wallace Building, Hedrick Block, Empire Hotel, St. Luke's Episcopal Church (1827-1828), Soldiers Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church (1910-1913), U.S. Post Office and Courthouse (1909), City Hall (1926), Salisbury Fire House and City Building (1897).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, with boundary increases in 1988, 1989, and 2000.

The Community Building, originally built as the Rowan County Courthouse, is a historic building located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. It was built between 1854 and 1857, and is a two-story, Classical Revival, stuccoed brick building on a granite foundation. It measures 50 feet wide and 85 feet long and features a pedimented portico supported by six Doric order columns. The portico includes a cast iron balcony and the building is distinguished by tall windows. A new Rowan County Courthouse was built in 1914, and the building used as a community center. The building is operated by the Rowan Museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. It is located in the Salisbury Historic District.

The Rowan Museum is located in a 19th-century courthouse in Salisbury, North Carolina that survived Stoneman’s Raid. The building is considered to be one of the finest examples of antebellum architecture in North Carolina. The museum is dedicated to the history of Rowan County. Listed on the National Register of National Places in March 1970. The courthouse was built and completed by Conrad and Williams contractors between 1855 and 1857. The courthouse is a two-story building with a hexastyle colossal Doric portico along the front facade. A new courthouse was built in 1914 and is now located next door. The courthouse was transformed into the Community Building and has housed the Rowan Museum since 2001, when it moved from the Utzman-Chambers House.Among the museum's holdings is the Old Stone House, a Georgian two-story structure built in 1766 near present-day Granite Quarry by Michael Braun, a wheelwright, printer and carpenter. The house is the oldest in Rowan County and one of the State's few remaining stone houses. Descendants or Braun and the Fisher family worked to preserve the house in the 1950s, when there was the possibility of it being torn down so its rock could be used for roads. The families donated the restored house to the museum in 1966. Other historic properties managed by the museum include the Utzman-Chambers House located in Salisbury and the China Grove Roller Mill in China Grove, NC. On the first floor are exhibits that display the history of Rowan County. The second floor of the museum features the Messinger Room which displays the remnants of a 19th-century courthouse. It is often rented for business and private events during the year. Throughout the year the museum hosts an Antique Show, Germafest, Spring Frolic, summer camps, and Old Stone Christmas.

Napoleon Bonaparte McCanless House is a historic home located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. It is a three-story, three bay by four bay, Second Empire style dwelling faced with rusticated granite. It has a rounded corner tower and a steep, concave, mansard roof sheathed in decorative slate shingles. Also on the property is a one-story, granite-veneered brick outbuilding believed to have been the kitchen.Napoleon B. McCanless served as president of the Halifax Cotton Mill Company, and held interests in agriculture, manufacturing, and mining. His home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. Some projects he was involved with include Vance Cotton Mill, Kesler Cotton Mill, North Side Cotton Mill, the Doggin (or Coggin) Mines Co., Yadkin Finishing Co. and Harris Granite Co. In the area of banking, Salisbury Savings Bank, Peoples National Bank (later Security Bank and Trust). He was also involved with the Washington Building, Central Hotel and the Empire Hotel. In June 2019, Historic Salisbury Foundation purchased the house for $160,000 from Livingstone College, which had once planned to use the house for a culinary school later housed at a former Holiday Inn. It was one of four remaining significant houses on South Main Street. While the house had been restored for a restaurant, it was in bad shape and cleanup work would take place before another restoration.In January 2021, Historic Salisbury Foundation, Inc. entered into a three-year partnership with The Ghost Guild, Inc. to explore reports of unexplained activity in and around the property. The Ghost Guild, Inc. is a registered nonprofit organization that investigates the Napoleon Bonaparte McCanless House several times per year and present its findings as part of Historic Salisbury Foundation annual October Tour.

The Archibald Henderson Law Office is a historic law office building located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina.

Mount Zion Baptist Church is a historic African-American Baptist church located at 413 N. Church Street in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The sanctuary was built in 1907, and is a red brick Gothic Revival style building. It features stained glass lancet windows and small triangular shaped windows and former towers capped by octagonal conical roofs. A brick-veneered educational/manse wing added between 1913 and 1920.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
