Apperley Viaducts

Apperley Bridge station is situated in Bradford on the (Leeds and Bradford, later Midland) line between Leeds and Shipley, West Yorkshire, England. It serves the district of Apperley Bridge in the north-east of the city. The station opened in 2015. A previous station with the same name was opened in a different location in 1846 but closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching Axe.

Apperley Bridge is a village in the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford, in West Yorkshire, England in the Idle and Thackley Ward. Apperley Bridge is north-east of Bradford on the boundary with the City of Leeds bounded in the east by Carr Beck and to the south by Greengates. The village straddles the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the River Aire. It takes its name from the old bridge over the river on Apperley Lane. Parts of Rawdon in Leeds of similar character are included in the BD10 Apperley Bridge postal district.

Esholt Sewage Works Railway was a standard gauge works railway constructed in 1910 to serve a sewage works in Esholt, West Yorkshire, England. The works were built to remove wool-grease and other wastes from effluent coming out of the many mills of the Bradford woollen district. At its peak, the railway extended to 22 miles (35 km) of track served by 11 locomotives, as well as a shorter section of narrow gauge railway served by three engines. Trains were employed to remove solid waste from the site; several of the engines were converted to run on oil derived from recovered wool-grease. The railway was closed completely in 1977, but the sewage works continues to operate.

Woodhouse Grove School ('The Grove') is a private, co-educational, day and boarding school and Sixth Form. it is located to the north of Apperley Bridge, West Yorkshire, England (Apperley Bridge is located in the City of Bradford, however the school is located just over the municipal border in the City of Leeds). The school, and its preparatory junior school, Brontë House, is located in the Aire Valley. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, currently including around 90 boarders. The school was founded as an all-boys boarding preparatory institution, for the sons of Methodist Ministers. It developed over the latter part of the 20th century. Woodhouse Grove has evolved into an independent education centre, providing education from the age of three through to graduation from the sixth form.

Greengates is a small suburban area in the north-east of the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire, in England. The area is bordered by Idle and Thackley to the north-west, and the large council estate known as Thorpe Edge to the west. To the south of Greengates is Ravenscliffe housing estate with the village of Eccleshill beyond that. The village of Apperley Bridge lies to the north. To the east in the Leeds Metropolitan District is the village of Calverley.

Esholt Priory was a Cistercian priory in West Yorkshire, England which was sold after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and the present Grade II* listed Esholt Hall now stands on the site of the priory.

Idle and Thackley is a ward within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council in the county of West Yorkshire, England, named after the villages of Idle and Thackley around which it is drawn. The population of 14,541 according to the 2001 UK census had increased at the 2011 Census to 16,135.As well as the villages of Idle and Thackley, the ward includes the villages of Apperley Bridge, Greengates, a small part of the Thorpe Edge housing estate, and a part of Little London near Rawdon.

The A657 is an A road in West Yorkshire, England that begins in Bramley and ends in Saltaire near Shipley. The road is approximately 8 miles (13 km) long. The road starts from the Bramley Town End (Stanningley By-Pass junction) and ends at the junction with the A650 at Saltaire.

Immanuel College is a mixed Church of England secondary school and sixth form located in the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was officially opened in October 2001.

Eccleshill Adventure Playground (organisation renamed PlayBradford in 2020), locally known as The Big Swing, is an Adventure playground that has operated in Eccleshill Park, Bradford, West Yorkshire since 2006. It is located beside the Ravenscliffe estate and provides open access adventure play for children and young people from five to sixteen years old. Most sessions however are for ages five to thirteen years old. The playground is staffed by playworkers and runs a mobile play programme in deprived areas and a playworker apprentice programme.Much like a school would, the charity needs to know emergency contact details for children that attend, whether this is for a one-off or regular attendance so as to be able to contact a responsible adult who lives with the child after the child has attended (e.g. to follow up after an incident that took place, or for track and trace purposes).

Thackley Tunnel is on the Airedale line between Leeds and Shipley on the lines to Bradford and Skipton. Completed in 1846 and opened on 30 June, the tunnel is approximately 1,300 yards (1,200 m) long through Thackley Hill. The contractor was James Bray, an iron and brass founder from Leeds who later contracted the construction of the Bramhope Tunnel on the Leeds to Thirsk main line.As built, the single tunnel bore contained a pair of lines. In 1900, the railway was increased to four tracks, with two lines in a second tunnel. One tunnel carried the fast lines from Leeds and the other the slow lines. In 1968, the southern tunnel was closed, coinciding with the closure of the Great Northern Branch Line from Shipley to Laisterdyke via Idle and Thackley. The northern tunnel is in use. The disused tunnel is periodically maintained.
