County Clare (Irish: Contae an Chláir) is a county in Ireland, in the Southern Region and the province of Munster, bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Clare County Council is the local authority. The county had a population of 118,817 at the 2016 census. The county town and largest settlement is Ennis.

Clare is a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency elects 4 deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).

The Alice and Gwendoline Cave is a limestone cave in County Clare, Ireland. It is known as the site of brown bear bones bearing the mark of butchery, which have pushed back the first known human habitation of Ireland by over two thousand years.

Cloughleigh, officially Cloghleagh (Irish: an Chloch Liath), is a townland and residential area of Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. It is mostly made up of bungalows, semi-detached houses and terraced houses. There is a community centre, playing fields and a playground in the estate, as well as a national school, which is financed directly by the State, but administered jointly by the State, a patron body, and local representatives. Nearby estates include Hermitage and Waterpark View. Cloughleigh falls within Ennis parish, and benefits from the local Church of Christ the King. Opened in 1978, it is one of the smallest churches in the parish.The community centre now houses Cloughleigh Youth Club. The club was founded in 1986 and originally met in a prefab for a number of years before moving to the community centre. Activities on offer include football, hockey, and dodgeball, arts and crafts, dancing, debates and quizzes. Members also participate in overseas exchanges, and staffing of a summer camp for twenty-five children between the ages of seven and ten.The RAPID Project in Cloughleigh, part of the Irish Government's drive for regeneration of deprived areas, was named one of the principal winners in Co-operation Ireland's annual Pride of Place Competition 2007.Most primary school students attend Cloughleigh National School, which is located on the estate. Other students attend Ennis National School or the other primary schools throughout Ennis.

Éire Óg, Inis GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Ennis, Clare, Ireland. The club plays both Hurling and Gaelic Football at all age levels. Their most recent major achievement came on 7 November 2021 when they won the Clare Senior Football Championship for the nineteenth time, defeating Kilmurry-Ibrickane by 1–11 to 0–09 in Cusack Park. Prior to the official club formation in 1952, the Ennis Dalcassians represented the county capital. The Ennis Faughs were an amalgamation of the club with local rivals St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield. They competed together from 1944 to 1956 and 1994-1995 when both clubs were not actually competing at senior level themselves. The Ennis Faughs competed in thirteen county football finals, winning five Senior Football titles in 1947, 1948, 1952, 1954 and again in 1994. They also won an Intermediate Hurling title in 1945, and an Intermediate Football title in 1946. When combined with their predecessors the Ennis Dalcassians, Éire Óg are the most successful club in Clare at senior level. A combined total of 34 county senior titles have been won by the capital town, 15 Senior Hurling titles (1990) and 19 Senior Football titles (2021).

Newhall is an Irish country estate near Ennis in County Clare, which includes a 17-bedroom 17th-century Georgian country house. The estate, held by successive members of the gentry, contains a holy well, and has an associated legend concerning a mermaid. It also includes gate lodges, woodlands, parklands, lakes and Killone Abbey, a national monument (founded 1190 by Donald Mor O’Brien, King of Thomond, for nuns of the rule of St. Augustine) and Saint John the Baptist Holy Well which is recognised by the Catholic church as a miracle well for sore eyes, headaches and toothaches.

The Diocese of Killaloe ( kil-ə-LOO; Irish: Deoise Chill Dalua) is a Roman Catholic diocese in mid-western Ireland, one of six suffragan dioceses in the ecclesiastical province of Cashel and Emly. The cathedral church of the diocese is the Cathedral of Ss Peter and Paul in Ennis, County Clare. The incumbent bishop of the diocese is Fintan Monahan.

Ennis National School is a primary school in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland opened in 1897. It was a boys' school for 95 years before becoming co-educational in 1992. As of the 2018-–19 school year, it has 38 individuals in its teaching staff. The school's curriculum includes participating in "Ennis Information Age Schools", leading a poetry project. A team of pupils won the 2003 national Cadbury/NPC Challenge Quiz, out of 1,800 schools.Development of a replacement school on a new site was finally authorised by the Government in November 2006. This followed a long campaign by parents. The new building opened in 2014.

Drumcliff, or Drumcliffe, Dromcliffe (Irish: Drom Cléibh) is a civil parish in County Clare, Ireland. It includes the village of Inch and part of the town of Ennis.

St Columba's Church is a congregation of the Church of Ireland, part of the Anglican Communion, in Ennis, County Clare, western Ireland. St. Columba's was built between 1868 and 1871 as the new building for Drumcliffe Parish to the design by architect Francis Bindon. Previous locations for the parish include Ennis Friary which was vacated by the Franciscan Order in the early nineteenth century. The present building was the last Anglican Church to be built in Ireland before its disestablishment by the Irish Church Act 1869. It is an example of Gothic revival architecture, and its large size bears testimony to the fact that Anglicans were formerly more numerous than they are today, although they are now part of a growing minority of non-Catholics in Ennis and County Clare. Memorials in the church include a wooden grave cross from Ypres, a reminder of World War I (1914–1918). The church hall is accommodated in the rear of the building. This was constructed around 1982-3 during the ministry of the former Dean of Limerick Maurice Talbot. A foyer and meeting hall, with kitchen and toilets were incorporated within the Church from space at the rear of St Columba’s.
