The Jack Lynch Tunnel (Irish: Tollán Sheáin Uí Loingsigh) is an immersed tube tunnel and an integral part of the N40 road network in Cork, Ireland. It is named after former Taoiseach, Jack Lynch, a native of Cork. It takes the road under the River Lee. North of the tunnel, the ring-road joins the M8 motorway to Dublin (north) and N8 road to the city centre (west), with the N25 commencing east to Waterford. The tunnel was completed in May 1999, and carried nearly 40,000 vehicles per day as of 2005. This number rose further as the N40 ring-road's upgrades progressed, with the opening of the Kinsale road roundabout flyover in 2006 and subsequent upgrades to the Sarsfield Road and Bandon Road Roundabouts. Traffic in 2016 was approximately 63,000 vehicles a day up from 59,000 in 2013.The tunnel has two cells, each with two traffic lanes and two footpaths, and a central bore for use in an emergency only. Pedestrians and cyclists are expressly forbidden from using the tunnel. The exclusion of cyclists has been somewhat controversial as the feeder road is a dual-carriageway and so is open to cyclists, but the by-law is applied because of space limitations and the obvious danger of cyclists in an enclosed tunnel.

The Dunkettle Interchange is a major road junction in Glanmire, to the east of Cork City, Ireland. It forms a junction between the M8, N25 and the N40. The junction is currently a four-arm signalised junction with a flyover, allowing traffic travelling in an east–west axis to avoid having to use the roundabout. On average, 95,000 vehicles use the junction on a daily basis. As of 2018, a further civil engineering upgrade to make the interchange work on a freeflow basis was being undertaken by Sisk, with a proposed completion date of 2022.It should not be confused with the Dunkettle Roundabout which is around 750m to the west.

Blackrock Castle is a castellated fortification located at Blackrock, about 2 km from Cork city centre on the banks of the River Lee in Ireland. Originally developed as a coastal defence fortification in the 16th century to protect upper Cork Harbour and port, the site now houses an observatory, visitor centre and restaurant.

Glanmire (Irish: Gleann Maghair) is a suburban town 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from Cork city centre, in the civil parish of Rathcooney, County Cork, Ireland. Glanmire is within the administrative area of Cork City Council and the Dáil constituency of Cork North-Central. The greater Glanmire area encompasses the communities of Riverstown (Baile Roisín), Brooklodge (Cill Ruadháin) and Sallybrook (Sruthán na Saileach).

Lotamore House is a Georgian house in Cork, Ireland, which used as a residence by several Cork merchant families before being turned into a number of businesses. Used as guesthouse for several years, by the beginning of the 21st century the house had fallen into disrepair, It was, however, renovated and reopened as a fertility clinic in 2017.

Coláiste an Phiarsaigh is a coeducational voluntary secondary school in Glanmire, Cork. Irish is the language of instruction and all pupils and teachers are expected to converse in school is free for day pupils and fee-paying for boarders, though some bursaries are available. Gaedhealachas Teoranta established the school in 1973. it is named after Patrick Pearse, an Irish revolutionary and Gaelic revivalist. Cormac Mac Cárthaigh was one of the founders, and Eibhlín Ní Drisceoil was principal from 1973 to 1991. In 1978, with about 200 students enrolled, the first permanent building was opened. In the eighties when student numbers increased, prefabs were opened. A permanent extension building opened in 1995, with a science lab, computer room, art room, classrooms, staff room and offices. In the 2011–12 school year, the enrolment was 255 boys and 281 girls. Ringmahon House is a 19th-century house in the Mahon and Blackrock area of Cork in Ireland. Built c. 1820 by James Murphy (of Murphy's Brewery), the house was owned by Ben Dunne (of Dunnes Stores) in the mid-20th century. As of the 21st century, the house is owned by Cork City Council and is used as a school by Mahon Youthreach. The grounds of Ringmahon House contain the former gate tower of an earlier castle. The remains of this structure, known as Ringmahon Castle, are included in the Record of Protected Structures maintained by Cork City Council.

St Michael's Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic football club in Cork City, Ireland. The club was formed in 1951 after a discussion in The Leaping Salmon Public House in Blackrock near Cork. At that time some of the Blackrock hurlers played football with different city teams and it was decided to enter a football team from Blackrock, thus keeping the players together. A formal meeting was held and St Michael's Gaelic Football Club was established.

Mahon (Irish: Machain) is an area to the south-eastern side of Cork, Ireland. Mahon gets its name from Lough Mahon, a wide stretch of the upper section of Cork Harbour. It was once a semi-rural peninsula, but from the late 20th century was subject to residential development, and has a number of housing estates and developments. The area was generally known as the Ring of Mahon, and is the site of Ringmahon House (formerly occupied by James Murphy of Murphy's Brewery and later by Ben Dunne of Dunnes Stores). Mahon is within the Cork South-Central Dáil constituency.

Tivoli is an eastern suburb of Cork in Ireland. Tivoli is in the Dáil constituency of Cork North-Central. A station on the former Cork and Youghal Railway served the area between the 1860s and 1930s.The area is home to a number of bed and breakfast establishments and the Silver Springs Hotel. The cedar trees, still growing in the area, were reputedly planted by Sir Walter Raleigh, who lived there briefly.Tivoli's docks, part of the Port of Cork, provide container handling, facilities for oil, livestock and ore, as well as a roll-on/roll-off ferry ramp. The docks are a significant point of entry for imported motor vehicles. The docks are to be phased out as the Port of Cork moves further downriver to the Ringaskiddy area.

Blackrock is a suburb, with a village core, in the southeast of Cork City, Ireland. Originally a small fishing village about five kilometres from Cork City, the growth of the city over time has meant that the village has become incorporated into the city. It is home to Blackrock GAA club, Blackrock Castle, a weekly farmers market, and as of 2015 has seen some investment in regeneration projects for the traditional village centre. Blackrock is within the Cork South-Central Dáil constituency.

Lotabeg House is an Irish historic house in County Cork, used as a residence by Cork merchant families, built between 1780 and 1820. The house, gate lodge and entrance are listed buildings.
