Hazelhatch and Celbridge railway station

Hazelhatch (Irish: Collchoill) is a townland in South Dublin on the border with County Kildare in Ireland. It is located on the R405 regional road, approximately halfway between Celbridge and Newcastle. The Grand Canal passes through the area, and Hazelhatch is one of the places of recreational activity along the Grand Canal, with fishing and boating. There is one pub in Hazelhatch, beside the canal. Although there is no conventional village centre, there is a concentration of one-off houses in the surrounding area. As of the 2011 census, Hazelhatch townland had a population of 62 people.

Celbridge is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. They were awarded Kildare GAA club of the year in 2008, winners of the Kildare senior football championship of 2008, finalists in the senior football league of 1923, 1988 and 2008 and won the Kildare senior hurling and camogie championships in 2005. The club has also won several honours at underage levels in all three codes, qualifying for national finals in football, hurling and camogie at the 2008 Féile.

For planning purposes, it is treated by Kildare County Council as a 'key development area' within the local area plan for the nearby town of Celbridge. It is, however, treated independently by the Central Statistics Office for census purposes, and was recorded as having a population of 479 people in the 2016 census. Ballyoulster United is the local association football (soccer) club, which (as of 2015) was competing in the Leinster Senior League.

As of the 2022 census, Celbridge was the third largest town in County Kildare by population, with 20,601 residents.The town originated in the 13th century, the name Cill Droichid being anglicised to Celbridge after 1714.

Castletown House, Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, is a Palladian country house built in 1722 for William Conolly, the Speaker of the Irish House of Commons. It formed the centrepiece of an 800-acre (320 ha) estate. Sold to developers in 1965, the estate is now divided between State and private ownership.

St Finian's church is a Church of Ireland building in the village of Newcastle, County Dublin. The core structures of the church, including the west tower and chancel, are dated to the 15th century. These includes a residential tower, attached to the church, in which the priest lived. In the late 15th century, an elaborate window was added on the eastern side. Other structures of the church date from redevelopments and expansion works in the late 18th century.Newcastle, at the edge of the Pale, was frequently attacked by the Irish striking out from the Wicklow Mountains; by the early 15th century there were six fortified tower-houses in Newcastle. The tower in the church is the only one still remaining in a habitable condition.The Roman Catholic church in Newcastle, also dedicated to Saint Finian, was built in 1813. Both churches, Catholic and Episcopalian, are included on the Record of Protected Structures by South Dublin County Council.
