Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

Lawndale Art Center is a non-profit space for the exhibition of contemporary works of art in all media, based in Houston, Texas, USA, focused on exhibiting work by Houston area artists. Lawndale Art Center was founded in 1979 by artist James Surls in an abandoned 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2) warehouse as part of the University of Houston, providing studio spaces for graduate students in painting and sculpture. Surls, then Professor of Art, created an exhibition area within Lawndale's 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2) of space; the exhibitions there soon expanded to include shows by other artists of the community. Lawndale Art Center became independent with non-profit status in 1989, and since 1992 has been located in a 1930s Art Deco building designed by Joseph Finger within Houston’s Museum District. The galleries exhibit close to 500 artists annually in changing exhibitions. Over twenty exhibitions, informal talks and special events are offered yearly including annual events such as Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead, Design Fair, and The Big Show.Lawndale is governed by a board of directors representing the community. At least one-third are artists. Exhibitions, special events and benefits are carried out with the assistance of volunteers, interns and in-kind contributors. In September of 2021, the institute announced its newly appointed Executive Director, Anna Walker.

The Czech Center Museum Houston (DBA), also known as Czech Cultural & Community Center, is a 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) multifunctional cultural organization located in the Museum District of Houston, Texas, committed to the education and celebration of Czech (Moravian, Bohemian, Silesian) and Slovakian culture, art, and history.

Wheeler Station is a station on the METRO Red Line in Houston. The station is located at the intersection of Main Street and Wheeler Street in Midtown.While construction and funding has not yet been finalized for the METRORail University/Blue Line, transfers between it and the Red Line will occur here if and when the Blue Line is built. Prior to the construction of the METRORail Purple Line, Wheeler Station was the only station in the system that had platforms that faced each other. UH South/University Oaks station became the second station to implement this platform configuration.

The John C. Freeman Weather Museum is a weather museum in the museum district of Houston, Texas. It opened in 1987 along with the Weather Research Center. The Weather Museum is known for its weather camps, especially during Summer,

The First Presbyterian Church is a church in the Museum District of Houston, Texas. As of 2012 it had 3,567 members. The church has been located in the Museum District since 1948.

The Ion District, Ion Innovation District, or Rice Innovation District, is a technology park and innovation district in Midtown Houston which was established as a joint initiative between Rice University and the City of Houston. It has also been called the South Main Innovation District. The district's central hub and first building is the Ion, which opened in 2021 after owner Rice Management Company (RMC) converted it from a former Sears store. The building houses coworking and office spaces, business incubators and accelerators, classrooms, a prototyping lab, investor studio, and restaurants. Current tenants include Chevron Technology Ventures and Microsoft. The district also includes Greentown Labs Houston, a business incubator focused on climate technology and sustainable energy, and a large outdoor plaza. RMC, a division of Rice University, is leading development of the project. Some community members, concerned about the potential gentrification of the nearby Third Ward, a predominantly African-American community, have expressed a range of concerns about the project.

Holland Lodge No. 1 AF&AM is the oldest Masonic lodge in Texas and a founding subordinate chapter of the Grand Lodge of Texas. The lodge was originally chartered by the Grand Lodge of Louisiana on 27 January 1836, making it older than the Republic of Texas. It is in the Museum District of Houston, Texas at 4911 Montrose Boulevard. The building was erected in 1954, designed by architect Milton McGinty. The sandstone mural facade depicting the origins of Freemasonry was carved by William M. McVey.

Presbyterian School is a private, coeducational Christian PreK-8 day school in the Museum District, Houston. Presbyterian School is composed of three divisions: an Early Childhood division, Alpha through Pre-kindergarten, a Lower School division, Kindergarten through grade four, and a Middle School division, fifth through eighth grade. The school shares a campus with First Presbyterian Church but is governed by an independent board of trustees and maintains an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation status. The school is financially independent from First Presbyterian Church.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church is a congregation of the United Methodist Church, founded in 1906 and located in Houston, Texas, in the city's Museum District. St. Paul's is known for its traditional style of worship as embodied by its choir.

Bell Park is a 1.15-acre park along Montrose Boulevard in Houston, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is named for C.C. Bell, who donated the park land to the city.The park features a statue of Christopher Columbus, donated to the city in 1992 by the group Italian-American Organizations of Greater Houston. In recent years the statue has become a target for vandalism as Columbus has grown controversial.

An outdoor 1992 bronze sculpture of Christopher Columbus by Joe Incrapera was installed in Houston's Bell Park, in the U.S. state of Texas. It was later removed in 2020 after a history of vandalism.
