Middelgrunden (Øresund)

The Middelgrunden wind farm stands on the shoal Middelgrunden, between shipping lanes in the Øresund, 3.5 km outside Copenhagen, Denmark. When it was built in 2000, it was the world's largest offshore farm, with 20 turbines (2 MW Bonus each) and a capacity of 40 MW. The farm delivers about 4% of the power for Copenhagen.In 1996, the project was initiated by the Copenhagen Environment and Energy Office (CEEO) after Middelgrunden had been listed as a potential site in the Danish Action Plan for Offshore Wind. Together with the CEEO a group of local people formed the Middelgrunden Wind Turbine Cooperative and established a cooperation with Copenhagen Energy, the local electric utility. The proposed location was initially opposed by the Danish Society for Nature Conservation, but this decision was later changed. Concrete gravity base foundations were chosen as the cheapest option.This project is an example for community wind energy. It is 50% owned by the 10,000 investors in the Middelgrunden Wind Turbine Cooperative, and 50% by the municipal utility company. It is clearly visible from the capital of Denmark.

Middelgrundsfortet or Fort Middelgrund, known as Ungdomsøen (The Youth Island) since 2015, is a sea fort located on an artificial island in the Øresund between Copenhagen and Malmö. The fortress is constructed at a point where the seabed is 7 meters below the water surface, and at the northern meeting point of the straits Kongedybet and Hollænderdybet.

Prøvestenen, also known as Benzinøen, is an artificial island off the northeast coast of Amager in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located between the Amager Hill combined incineration plant and ski slope to the north and Amager Strandpark to the south. It was created as a marine fortress to guard the entrance to Copenhagen Harbour in the second half of the 18th century and served military purposes until 1922. It now houses the city's petroleum harbor. Prøvestensbroen at the end of Prags Boulevard links it with the rest of Amager.

Amager Strandpark (Amager Beach Park) is a seaside public park in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located on the island of Amager and includes an artificial island and offers a total of 4.6 km (2.9 mi) of beaches. From the beach, the Middelgrunden wind farm can be seen on the horizon.The park was founded in 1934 and in 2005 a 2 km-long (1.2 mi) artificial island was added. The island is separated from the original beach by a lagoon which is crossed by three bridges. The beach has two sections. The northern section has a natural beach environment with winding paths, broad sandy beaches and low dunes. The southern section offers a so-called city beach with a broad promenade and areas for ball play or picnicking. There is also a small marina and parking facilities at the southern end. The lagoon has low-water areas for children as well as a 1,000 m (3,300 ft) swimming course.

Amager Bakke (lit. 'Amager Hill'), also known as Amager Slope or Copenhill, is a combined heat and power waste-to-energy plant (new resource handling centre) and recreational facility in Amager, Copenhagen Denmark, located prominently within view of the city's downtown. The facility opened in 2017, and partially replaced the nearby old incineration plant in Amager, which is in the process of being converted from coal to biomass (expected to complete in 2020). The two plants play a major role in Copenhagen's ambitions of meeting zero carbon requirements by 2025.The recreational components of the facility (the dry ski run, hiking trail and climbing wall) opened in December 2018, with an attendance estimated at 42-57 thousand visitors annually.Copenhill was named the World Building of the Year 2021 at the fourteenth annual World Architecture Festival.

Amager Øst (English: Amager East) is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It encompasses the part of Copenhagen located on the island of Amager, east of the major shopping street Amagerbrogade.Prior to an administrative reform in 2006–08, the district was known as Sundbyøster. Amager Øst holds within its limits a heterogeneous mixture of areas, to the north Amagerbro, straddling the border with Amager Vest, is a dense "-bro district"-style residential neighbourhoods while other areas are dominated by allotments, Single-family houses or, sometimes abandoned, industrial sites. Amagerbro used to be a run-down working-class neighbourhood but has undergone considerable urban renewal. Also the areas along the Øresund coast has undergone considerable redevelopment, most notably with the establishment of Amager Strandpark in 2005 with a 2 km long artificial island and a total of 4.6 km of beaches.

Lergravsparken (Lit.: The Clay Pit Park) is a public park situated on the north side of Øresundsvej in the East Amager district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is bounded by Østrigsgade to the west, Lergravsvej to the north and Strandlodsvej to the east. Lergravsparken metro station is located in a corner of the park. Lergravparkens Skole, a public primary school, is located just west of the park.

Amager Hospital is located in Denmark on the island of Amager in Copenhagen. It was founded on April 1, 1997, with the merger of Skt. Elisabeth Hospital and Sundby Hospital. Administratively, Amager Hospital is maintained by Region Hovedstaden. The hospital is a teaching hospital for medical students from Copenhagen University.
