Chisholm's Mills

Roslin is an unincorporated community in the municipality of Centre Hastings, Ontario, Canada. Roslin was the birthplace of C. F. Hamilton, first liaison and intelligence officer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Chisholm's Mills, operated by Chisholm Lumber, is located nearby.

Plainfield, Ontario is a small rural community in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is located in Hastings County 10 miles north of Belleville.

Moira, Ontario is an unincorporated area in the municipality of Centre Hastings, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Moira is also the name of a signpost on the Canadian National Railway main line which passes through Hastings County, although it is not a passenger stop. Moira is not a valid locality name for mail delivery. Canada Post's web site indicates that mail for at least some Moira addresses is handled through Roslin, Ontario.

Stoco Lake is a lake in the Lake Ontario drainage basin in Tweed, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. The lake is about 5.4 kilometres (3.4 mi) long and 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) wide, and lies at an elevation of approximately 138 metres (453 ft). There are two named islands, Butternut Island and Grant Island, and one named bay, Cosy Cove at the northeast. The primary inflow is the Moira River, at the northwest. Secondary inflows are the Clare River at the east and Sulphide Creek at Cosy Cove at the northeast. The primary outflow is the Moira River, which exits via two channels: the eastern channel, designated the Moira River, and the named Western Channel. The two enclose Sugar Island. There are three settlements on the lake: the village of Tweed at the Moira River inflow at the northwest; Cosy Cove, on the bay Cosy Cove and at the Sulphide Creek inflow at the northeast; and Stoco at the Moira River eastern channel outflow. The Moira River flows into the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario at Belleville.

Sulphide Creek, a tributary of the Moira River, reaches its mouth at Stoco Lake in the community.

The Municipality of Centre Hastings is a township in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in Hastings County. It was formed on January 1, 1998, through the amalgamation of Huntingdon Township with the Village of Madoc.

Corbyville is a community located within the City of Belleville, Ontario. Its origins begin when Henry Corby immigrated to Canada. Corby had been a baker in England and when he arrived in Belleville in 1832, he set up a small food shop. After serving in the Rebellion of 1837 he bought a Saint Lawrence steamer named the Queen which he operated for four years. It was customary for farmers to set aside a portion of their inferior grain to be made into whisky, and as Corby was already making whisky for the locals, he became interested in the distilling process. In 1857, Corby built a dam and established a grist-mill on the bank of the Moira River. In 1859 he built a distillery which became more important than the mill. Ten years after building his first mill, Henry decided to try his hand at politics and was elected mayor in 1867. The following year he served as a member of the Provincial Parliament for the Conservatives. Henry died on October 25, 1881, at which time his son, Harry, took over the business. Harry began to sell the whisky by the bottle rather than the barrel, seeing it a better business opportunity. In 1905 the company was named the H. Corby Distillery. The distillery was closed in 1989.
