The River Suir Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the River Suir in Ireland. It was built as part of the N25 Waterford Bypass, and opened to traffic on 19 October 2009, some ten months ahead of schedule. The Viking settlement at Woodstown was discovered during the project and the route of the southern approach roads was altered to preserve the site. The 230 metre main span had the longest single bridge span in the Republic of Ireland, until the opening of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge, taking that record from the Boyne River Bridge on the Dublin to Belfast M1 motorway. By comparison, the main span of the Foyle Bridge in Northern Ireland is four metres longer.

Mount Sion (Irish: Cnoc Sion) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland. It was founded by teachers in the school of the same name. Although technically separate from the school, the club still maintains a close relationship with the school, sharing the same sports facilities in the city.The club fields teams in both the Waterford Hurling and Gaelic football championships and has had many famous players, including John Keane, Philly Grimes, Tony Browne and Ken McGrath. The club is mainly concerned with the game of hurling and is the most successful in Waterford with 35 county title wins, although they did win 5 county football titles back in the 1950s. They have also won 2 Munster Senior Hurling titles, in 1981 with victory over Limerick club South Liberties (3-9 to 1-4) and in 2002 beating Sixmilebridge of Clare (0-12 to 0-10). The club has produced a number of All Star winning players for Waterford and also two Inter-county hurlers of the year, Tony Browne in 1998 and Austin Gleeson in 2016. John Keane was also selected on the hurling team of the millennium. Frankie Walsh was the last Waterford man to lift the Liam McCarthy cup in 1959. Mount Sion won titles in 1994, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 with players such a such Ken McGrath, Tony Browne, Brian Greene, Eoin Daniels, Eoin Kelly, and Eoin McGrath. Since 2006, Mount Sion have had something of a barren period going without a county final win and, while they reached the final in 2014, Ballygunner came out on top on a score line of 2-16 to 0-9.

Roanmore GAA (Irish: Ruánmhór) is a GAA club in Waterford City, Republic of Ireland. Formed in 1970, the club made rapid progress, achieving Senior Hurling status in 1980. The club's greatest achievement was winning back to back Waterford Senior Hurling Championships in 1989 and 1990. The club has provided many players to the Waterford Senior Hurling Panel over the years, most notably, Noel Crowley and Kieran Delahunty. In 2010 Roanmore secured a return to the senior ranks with a victory over Ardmore in the Intermediate County final in Dungarvan.

De La Salle Gaelic football and hurling club is based in Waterford City, Ireland. The club competes in Gaelic games competitions organised by Waterford GAA board. The club has won the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship twice and the Waterford Senior Football Championship on 6 occasions. While having a notable record in gaelic football, today the club mainly focuses on hurling.

Waterford (Irish: Port Láirge [pˠɔɾˠt̪ˠ ˈl̪ˠaːɾʲ(ə)ɟə]) is a city in County Waterford in the south-east of Ireland. It is located within the province of Munster. The city is situated at the head of Waterford Harbour. It is the oldest and the fifth most populous city in the Republic of Ireland. It is the ninth most populous settlement on the island of Ireland. Waterford City and County Council is the local government authority for the city. According to the 2016 Census, 53,504 people live in the city, with a wider metropolitan population of 82,963. Today, Waterford is known for Waterford Crystal, a legacy of the city's former glassmaking industry. Glass, or crystal, was manufactured in the city from 1783 until early 2009 when the factory there was shut down after the receivership of Waterford Wedgwood plc. The Waterford Crystal visitor centre in the Viking Quarter, under new owners, opened in June 2010, after the intervention of Waterford City Council and Waterford Chamber of Commerce, and resumed production. Waterford is also known for being the starting point of Ryanair's first flight, a 14-seat Embraer Bandeirante turboprop aircraft flying between Waterford and London Gatwick Airport.

Walsh Park (Irish: Páirc Breathnach) is a GAA stadium in Waterford, Ireland named after Willie Walsh, a well-known referee and long time campaigner for Gaelic games in Waterford. It is one of the two homes of the Waterford Gaelic football and hurling teams, the other being Fraher Field in Dungarvan. The two grounds are rivals for important games, former Waterford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald saying "There's this endless battle between Walsh Park and Fraher Field, a political battle almost. If one field gets a game, the other has to get the next one. Dungarvan was a nice field, but my personal preference was always Walsh Park, because I felt it had more of the feel of a fortress."Walsh Park is named after Willie Walsh, who refereed many All-Ireland SFC and SHC finals, including the 1916 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final.

The Rice Bridge is the present city-centre bridge in Waterford, Ireland on the north side of the city. It was constructed in stages between 1982 and 1986, with an official opening of the first two lanes in 1984. It is named after Edmund Ignatius Rice (and occasionally also called the Edmund Rice Bridge or Brother Edmund Ignatius Rice Bridge). The Rice Bridge was constructed after the previous bridge was deemed unsafe.

Waterford railway station (Plunkett Station, Irish: Phort Láirge Stáisiún Phluincéid) serves the city of Waterford in County Waterford, Ireland. The station is located across Rice Bridge on the north side of the city. There are two bays at the west end of the station. These are platform 5 and 6 respectively. The main platform is quite long and due to a crossover it can be operated as two platforms if necessary. The eastern end is platform 3, the western end being platform 4. A large signal cabin is situated across the running lines. The station area is still currently controlled by semaphore signals.

The city of Waterford in southeastern Ireland was besieged twice during 1649 and 1650 during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. The town was held by Irish Confederate Catholic under General Richard Farrell and English Royalist troops under general Thomas Preston. It was besieged by English Parliamentarians under Oliver Cromwell, Michael Jones and Henry Ireton.

Waterford City Library, also known as the Central Library, is a public library in Waterford, Ireland. It was the first to be built of Ireland's many Carnegie libraries. The philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who had previously opened libraries in Scotland and the US, himself laid the foundation stone in 1903.

Waterford Bus Station serves the city of Waterford in the south-east of Ireland. It is situated on the quay in Waterford. It was opened in 1987 and redeveloped in 2000.There are 16 stands for buses. The station has a shop, travel centre, security offices, toilets and ticket desk and machines. The bus station is used by Bus Éireann for regional services mainly although some city centre services depart form the station. Most city centre buses depart from the Clock Tower bus stop beside the station. At night buses do not stay at the station as it is a very open area and buses go to a depot in the city.

South East Technological University (SETU; Irish: Ollscoil Teicneolaíochta an Oirdheiscirt) is a public technological university located in the South East region of Ireland. It was formed from the amalgamation of two existing institutes of technology in the region - Waterford IT and IT Carlow. Following years of discussions and planning, its formation was announced in November 2021 and was formally established on 1 May 2022. It is the only university in the South East of Ireland.
