Skillman, New Jersey

The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) is a history museum located in the Skillman section of Montgomery Township, New Jersey, United States. The museum is located at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, an African Methodist Episcopal church constructed in 1899. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 7, 2021.

The Montgomery Township School District is a comprehensive public school district, consisting of five school facilities, that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Montgomery Township and Rocky Hill, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. Rocky Hill was a non-operating school district whose school children had attended the Montgomery Township schools as part of a sending/receiving relationship, but has since been incorporated into the school district. Montgomery Township had been one of the fastest-growing school districts in New Jersey. In September 1992, the K-12 enrollment was 1,590 compared to 4,924 in September 2005, tripling in just more than a decade.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of five schools, had an enrollment of 4,498 students and 403.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.2:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "J", the highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.

Montgomery High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in the Skillman section of Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as the lone secondary school of the Montgomery Township School District. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,561 students and 112.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.8:1. There were 50 students (3.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 15 (1.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The district's District Factor Group ranking of "J" indicates that the school serves students of relatively high socioeconomic status.

The North Princeton Developmental Center, formerly known as the New Jersey State Village for Epileptics, was a medical facility within Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. The facility was home to a variety of mental health institutions throughout the years. In 2011, the former self-sustaining mental health village was slated for demolition to make space for a proposed county park. Demolition was completed in 2012 with plans to begin construction of the conceptual park in 2013. The facility garnered much notoriety over the past decades due to its "ghost town" appearance and mention in the popular book and periodical, "Weird N.J." Until its demolition, the former hospital was a popular place for "urban explorers" to explore, despite the buildings being unsafe (partially due to asbestos and lead paint contamination. Urban explorers were often met with resistance from law enforcement, as the site was prone to criminal activity, ranging from graffiti to arson. Prior to the demolition of the site, state and local governments have both made reasonable attempts to keep trespassers out, for example by sealing the entrances and windows of the property, though these methods proved to be relatively ineffective.

Reformed Dutch Church of Blawenburg, now known as Blawenburg Reformed Church, is a historic church at 424 County Route 518 in the Blawenburg section of Montgomery Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. The Blawenburg Reformed Church Cemetery is located on County Route 601 near CR 518. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 22, 1985 for its significance in architecture and religion. It was added as a contributing property to the Blawenburg Historic District in 1990.

Skillman Park is a public park in Skillman, part of Montgomery, Somerset County, New Jersey. It is operated by the Somerset County Park Commission. The park was opened in 2015.The 247-acre area was bought by Somerset County from the township in 2011. It once housed Skillman Village. In the subsequent development of the park much of the original tree-lined layout by landscape architect Charles Leavitt from 1901 has been preserved; old buildings, however, were removed. The park can be crossed by car and has multiple parking lots. It has a multi-use, asphalted 2.25 mile trail. A nature path runs along Rock Brook.

Blawenburg is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 280. It is located at the juncture of two large roads, CR 518 and CR 601.

Zion is an unincorporated community along the border of Hillsborough Township and Montgomery Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located on Rock Brook, approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) north of Hopewell. The Rock Brook Bridge in Zion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dutchtown is an unincorporated community located within Montgomery Township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area consists mainly of forested land with some houses grouped around the intersection of Dutchtown-Zion Road and Belle Mead-Blawenberg Road (County Route 601) in the northern portion of the township. Also nearby are the Unionville Cemetery and a rock quarry. The Dirck Gulick House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Dirck Gulick House is a historic stone house built in 1752 and located at 506 County Route 601 (Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road) in the Dutchtown section of Montgomery Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 2003 for its significance in architecture and exploration/settlement. It is now operated as a historic house museum by the Van Harlingen Historical Society.

Maplewood, also known as the David C. Voorhees House or the John A. Voorhees House, was a historic building overlooking Burnt Hill Road at Rock Brook in Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 24, 2000. for its significance in architecture and health/medicine. It was destroyed by fire on November 19, 2011.
