Helsinki University Observatory housed the Department of Astronomy at the University of Helsinki, south Finland until end of 2009. It is now an astronomy-themed visitor centre and museum.

St. Henry's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Helsinki, Finland, dedicated to Henry, a 12th-century Bishop of Finland. It is the Cathedral Church of the Catholic Diocese of Helsinki.The church was designed by architect Ernst Lohrmann. It was constructed between 1858 and 1860, primarily to serve Russian Catholics in the army, as well as Catholic merchants. Although it was finished in 1860, it was not consecrated until 1904. It became the Cathedral Church of Helsinki in 1955. The architecture of the church is Gothic Revival. Statues of Saint Henry, Saint Peter and Saint Paul decorate the exterior.

The Olympia Terminal (Finnish: Olympiaterminaali, Swedish: Olympiaterminalen) is a dock in the South Harbour of Helsinki, Finland. It was designed by the Hytönen-Luukkonen architects bureau and opened for the 1952 Summer Olympics. Today, the terminal has a regular connection to Stockholm, acting as Silja Line's Helsinki terminal. Over 1.5 million passengers travel through the Olympia Terminal annually. A currency exchange point, an ATM and a café are present in the building. Silja Line’s MS Silja Serenade and MS Silja Symphony operate daily to Stockholm’s Värtahamnen, departing at 17:00.

The Italian ambassador in Helsinki is the official representative of the Government in Rome to the Government of Finland.

The Palace Hotel is an historic modernist hotel in Helsinki, opened in 1952, the year of the Helsinki Olympic Games. The building was designed by architects Viljo Revell and Keijo Petäjä, and was constructed during 1949–1952. In addition to the Palace Hotel and related restaurants, the building hosted also the main offices of the Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers. The interiors of the building were furnished by various renowned Finnish interior designers, such as Olli Borg, Antti Nurmesniemi and Olavi Hänninen.The hotel building has been included in the selection of Finnish masterpieces of modernism in architecture by the Docomomo International organization.

Kaivohuone (also abbreviated as Kaivo) is a restaurant in Helsinki, Finland. It is located in the middle of Kaivopuisto Park on the Iso Puistotie street, about one and a half kilometers south of the Market Square. The restaurant features a large outdoor terrace, and in the summer, popular nightclubs performing by top artists are organized in the restaurant, which are especially popular on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Port of Helsinki (Finnish: Helsingin Satama, Swedish: Helsingfors Hamn) is one of the busiest passenger ports in Europe and the main port for foreign trade in Finland.For passenger traffic, the port operates regular liner connections to destinations such as Tallinn, Stockholm, Saint Petersburg and Travemünde, serving a total volume of 11.6 million passengers in 2018. Additionally, it is a popular destination for international cruise ships with 520,000 passenger arrivals in 2018.As Finland's leading cargo port, a total of 14.7 million tonnes of goods were transported in 2018. The main export commodities are products for the forest industry, machinery and equipment, whereas in imports the most prominent product group are daily consumer goods. In 2017, the Port of Helsinki acquired a majority stake in the Port of Loviisa, situated some 70 kilometres (43 mi) east of Helsinki.The port is owned by the city of Helsinki and operated by Port of Helsinki Ltd. The current port traffic volumes and urban population categorize Helsinki as a Large-Port City

South Harbour (Finnish: Eteläsatama, Swedish: Södra hamnen) is a bay and harbour area immediately next to the centre of the city of Helsinki, Finland. 4.7 million passengers in liner traffic and some 37 000 international cruise passengers travel through it every year. In addition to that, also over million tonnes of unitized cargo passes through the South Harbour. The most of the harbour's traffic is to Stockholm, Sweden and Tallinn, Estonia, and cruises. In summertime, there is also much small ship traffic. The bay is bordered by the districts of Katajanokka, Kaartinkaupunki, Ullanlinna and Kaivopuisto. The waterway leading to the South Harbour is 9.6 metres deep. The most critical point on the waterway is the Kustaanmiekka strait, with a width of 80 metres. The waterway has a speed limit of 30 km/h, except for the Katajanokka area, which has a speed limit of 10 km/h.

The Old Market Hall (Finnish: Vanha kauppahalli; Swedish: Gamla saluhallen) is the oldest market hall in Helsinki, Finland. It is located along the Eteläranta street near the Helsinki Market Square in the Kaartinkaupunki district. By 2013, the hall had also become a popular tourist attraction.

CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish non-governmental organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflict through informal dialogue and mediation. Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari founded CMI in 2000. CMI has offices in Helsinki and Brussels as well as a presence in selected countries. CMI transformed from an association to a foundation on 1 May 2021. The organisation is officially registered as CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation sr.

The Market Square (Finnish: Kauppatori, Swedish: Salutorget) is a central square in Helsinki, Finland. It is located in central Helsinki, at the eastern end of Esplanadi and bordering the Baltic Sea to the south and Katajanokka to the east. HSL maintains a year-round ferry link from Market Square to Suomenlinna, and in the summer there are also private companies providing ferry cruises, both to Suomenlinna and to other nearby islands. The Presidential Palace, Helsinki City Hall, Swedish Embassy and the Stora Enso Headquarters building (designed by Alvar Aalto) are all located adjacent to Market Square. From spring to autumn, the Market Square is active with vendors selling fresh Finnish food and souvenirs. There are also many outdoor cafés at the square. Some cafés also provide meat pastries (Finnish: lihapiirakka). The height of the square's popularity is in early October, when the annual Helsinki herring market (silakkamarkkinat) begins. A long tradition at the Market Square is a display of old American cars on the first Friday of every month. Any motorist with an interest in old American cars may participate in the display. Seagulls have become an increasing menace in the Market Square, swooping down to snatch snacks and ice cream from the hands of unsuspecting tourists.

The Cygnaeus Gallery (Finnish: Cygnaeuksen galleria, Swedish: Cygnaei galleri) is an art gallery in Helsinki. The art gallery was founded by the professor of aesthetics Fredrik Cygnaeus. It was built as a villa in 1869–1870 to designs by architect J.F.W. Mieritz. Cygnaeus donated the gallery to the Finnish nation in his testament. It opened to the public in 1882, and is today owned by the Finnish Heritage Agency. It has been claimed to be the oldest still operating art museum in Finland. The gallery contains mainly Finnish art from the 19th century, c. 200 works in total. Among artists represented are Albert Edelfelt, the Von Wright brothers, Fanny Churberg and Helene Schjerfbeck.Apart from the permanent collections the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and is used, among other things, as concert venue.In 2014 it was closed down for the time being for lack of funding by the Heritage Agency.
