Konala (Finnish), Kånala (Swedish) is a subdistrict of Helsinki, Finland. Konala is situated in north-western Helsinki, north of the road Ring I and Pitäjänmäki, west of Malminkartano and Kannelmäki. Its southern boundary is the Ring I, while the eastern boundary is a green belt which separates the industrial area along the road Vihdintie from Malminkartano. In the west, Konala borders Espoo. The houses are mainly small apartment houses and townhouses. The area also contains industrial and commercial enterprises. Vihdintie has several automotive companies. The Ristikko Shopping Centre, which opened in 2015, is also located in Konala.The road Konalantie splits Konala into two different parts. On the eastern side of the Konalantie, there are regional blocks of industry, business and apartment blocks. On the western side of the road, there are terraced houses, such as the houses by the road Äestäjäntie. The newer Lehtovuori suburb, between the road Vihdintie and the Uusmäki suburb in Espoo, is mainly composed of wooden houses. Konalan ala-aste, a primary school, operates at two separate locations. The so-called "big school" is located by the Riihipellonkuja and was founded in 1981. The schoolhouse is a low white building, and it provides education for grades 1-6 as well as special education. Near the border with Espoo, there is the Hilatien Koulu, which was founded in 1990 and provided education for the grades 1–2. The "little school" was closed in 2011/2012 due to poor indoor air quality.

Malminkartanonhuippu (English: Malminkartano Hill, Swedish: Malmgårdstoppen) is an artificial hill in the district of Malminkartano in Helsinki, Finland. It is located near to the Vihti Road and the Myyrmäki district of Vantaa. With a height of approximately 90 meters above sea level, it is the highest point in the city of Helsinki. The view from the top gives an uninterrupted 360° panorama in all directions, for those who have climbed the 426 steps. One face of the hill includes a giant arrow-shaped artwork pointing upwards and several hundred metres in length. Nicknames include "Täyttömäki" (filling hill) Jätemäki ("dump hill") and Jättäri ("leftovers"). All of these slang terms derive from the site's past use as a municipal landfill site, between the years of 1976–1996. It contains mostly construction waste such as sand, bricks, stones, concrete etc. The hill is commonly used, during the summer months, as a mini downhill mountain bike track, and has a reasonably aggressive set of turns and jumps for those prepared to climb the hill. It's also a fairly well used exercise area for joggers, and an excellent slope for sledding in the winter. In 2017, and again in 2021 a professional piano moving company carried a 200-kilogram (440 lb) instrument up the steps to the top of the hill. In between the two attempts the wooden steps had been renewed.

Malminkartano (Malmgård in Swedish) is a suburb and a quarter in the western part of Helsinki city, part of the Kaarela neighbourhood. Vantaankosken rata, the railway of Vantaankoski, has a station in Malminkartano. The suburb's artificial hill, Malminkartanonhuippu or Malminkartanon täyttömäki is the highest point of Helsinki. Malminkartano is often called Maltsu by young people.

Malminkartano railway station (Finnish: Malminkartanon rautatieasema, Swedish: Malmgårds järnvägsstation) is a railway station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in northern Helsinki, Finland. It is located approximately eleven kilometres to the north of Helsinki Central railway station. The station is served by circular lines I and P, between the stations of Kannelmäki and Myyrmäki.

Finnvox Studios is a recording studio located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland. It was founded by Erkki Ertesuo, Kurt Juuranto and Lejos Inc. in 1965 and is the longest running studio recording facility in Finland. The original multi-track recording equipment and continuous technical updates of the studio machines and acoustics soon made Finnvox the most sought after studio in the country. Finnish artists which recorded at Finnvox in the 1970s include Rauli Somerjoki, M. A. Numminen and their bands, Wigwam, Agit-prop and many others. Up until the 1990s, Finnvox also operated a vinyl record mastering and pressing facility, which was later converted in new studio rooms and in a mixing and recording room for film and TV productions. Currently, Finnvox occupy 2000 square feet and has nine studio rooms, five of which are used for recording and mixing, three for mastering and editing and one for film and TV productions. Finnvox Studios maintained for five decades their importance in the country, remaining the first choice in Finland for all the local record producers and companies.More recently, many metal bands used Finnvox Studios for recording, mixing or mastering their albums including Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Finntroll, Stratovarius, HIM, Moonsorrow, Holy Knights, Ram-Zet, Throes of Dawn, Grenouer, Apocalyptica and many more.The mastering abilities of technician Mika Jussila in particular are much requested in the metal community, with more than 1300 metal albums mastered at Finnvox since 1990.

Pitäjänmäki station (Finnish: Pitäjänmäen rautatieasema, Swedish: Sockenbacka järnvägsstation) is a station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in western Helsinki, Finland. It is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the northwest of the Helsinki Central Station in the district of Pitäjänmäki, and is situated between the stations of Valimo and Mäkkylä.

The Pajamäki Solar System Scale Model is a scale model of the Solar System built in Helsinki and partly in Espoo, Finland in 1992. Its scale is 1:1 000 000 000, i.e. one to one billion, so that 1 millimeter in the model corresponds to 1 000 kilometers in the actual Solar System. The coordinates given for the model are those for the Sun in Patterinmäki. The model was designed by the amateur astronomer Leo Sulamaa, who has had his own observatory in Pajamäki.

Mäkkylä is a station on the VR commuter rail network, between the cities of Helsinki and Espoo in Finland. It is situated between Pitäjänmäki railway station and Leppävaara railway station and is about nine kilometres northwest of Helsinki Central railway station.

Pajamäki (Swedish: Smedjebacka) is a neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland. It is located in Pitäjänmäki district. As of 2008, Pajamäki has 1,802 inhabitants living in an area of 0.27 km2.

The Myyrmanni bombing took place on October 11, 2002, in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, Finland, in Greater Helsinki, at the Myyrmanni shopping mall. A bomb was hidden in a backpack, which exploded in the central square of the shopping center on top of a metal waste container, located in the center of the square, at 19:36. Five people were instantly killed, including the bomber. The waste container was shattered, and fragments of the structure increased the amount of shrapnel and the devastation. The explosion ruined 400 m² of the shopping center, carved a 10-cm deep crater in the floor where the waste container had stood and blew the glass dome over the square up and outwards from the mall. In total seven died, including two teenagers and a 7-year-old. 159 were injured, including 10 children. 66 victims required hospitalization with the remainder treated and released at the scene. The bombing took place during the pre-weekend shopping surge late on a Friday afternoon, with 1,000–2,000 people in the shopping center, including many children who had come to see a clown performance.

Myyrmanni is a shopping center located at the Myyrmäki suburb of Vantaa, Finland. The center was built in the early 1990s and it has over 90 stores and 1,100 parking spaces. The main tenants of the shopping center include S-market, Alko, H&M, Lindex, Clas Ohlson, Tokmanni and Burger King.From the center of Helsinki Myyrmanni is best reached by bus 300 or by P-train to Myyrmäki Station located next to the mall. Myyrmanni was the site of a bombing on October 11, 2002. 7 people were killed.In 2010 the Mall attempted to improve the customer flow to the second floor as there were queues at the landscape lifts and the steel car lifts were ignored. Kone Lifts turned the elevators into a Hall of Fame for the 'Incredibles' comic strip characters. Making their Elevators more attractive to the public solved the people flow problem. This practical case of service design thinking is used in literature as an example of extending products into services.
