Mount Stuart (Queensland)

Murray is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Murray had a population of 1,491 people. It is not a conventional suburb, with the developed land in the suburb being within the Australian Army's Lavarack Barracks.

The 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) is a mechanised infantry battalion of the Australian Army, based in Kapyong Lines, Townsville as part of the 3rd Brigade. 3 RAR traces its lineage to 1945 and has seen operational service in Japan, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, South Vietnam, Rifle Company Butterworth, East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Annandale State Primary School is a large school situated in the Townsville suburb of Annandale, Queensland, Australia. The suburb is located on the southern approaches to Townsville across the road from Lavarack Barracks and is also bordered by the Ross River. Annandale was established in 1998 and boasts landscaped grounds surrounding fully air-conditioned buildings. All buildings are also cabled for Internet access. A major project during 2005/6 was the completion of a roof over the school's two basketball courts. Julie Kornman served as the first principal of Annandale State school from its founding in 1998 until 2002. She laid the building blocks for the school's essential air-conditioning and internet fibre optics programs. Annandale offers a wide-ranging curriculum for students from Prep to Year 6. Students complete four units of study per year and are grouped according to their age. Major foci for the next three years include the development of whole school approaches to Gifted Education, ICT, Literacy and Outcomes planning. Students may also elect to participate in the school sport and music programs. Annandale participates in many sports including soccer, netball, rugby league, and hockey. Students may also elect to learn a musical instrument such as the violin, trumpet, flute, or drums.

The Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) is an Australian tropical health and medical research institute based at James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville and Cairns, Queensland. Formerly known as the Australian Institute of Tropical Medicine, AITHM was established at JCU in 2008. AITHM's focus is on the health problems of most importance to tropical Australia and the tropics worldwide, particularly within Australia’s geographical region. This focus is reflective of JCU's strategic commitment to "Creating a brighter future for life in the tropics worldwide through graduates and discoveries that make a difference". The current Director of AITHM is Professor Louis Schofield.

The Anton Breinl Centre for Public Health and Tropical Medicine (Anton Breinl Centre or the ABC) is a constituent discipline of the School of Public Health, Tropical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sciences at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. It specialises in public health and tropical medicine. The Anton Breinl Centre is one of only eight internationally recognised centres of excellence in tropical medicine worldwide and one of two in the Asia-Pacific Region. The Anton Breinl Centre incorporates a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre (CC) for the Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiases (WHO CC Number AUS 68). It also incorporates a World Safety Organization Collaborating Centre, which has several designations, including Disaster Health and Emergency Response, Injury Prevention and Occupational Health and Travel Safety and Health.The Anton Breinl Centre is a renowned research-led postgraduate centre, which presents unique opportunities for postgraduate study of the major disciplines related to public health and tropical medicine. Anton Breinl Centre also has one of the largest Master of Public Health programs in Australasia and is one of only a small number of Schools in Australia to receive funding from the Commonwealth Public Health Education and Research Program.

Townsville University Hospital (TUH), formerly The Townsville Hospital (TTH), is a public tertiary care hospital on Angus Smirth Drive, Douglas, Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It is the largest facility within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) geographic area. TUH is the major trauma centre for northern Queensland and all medical and surgical specialties are represented. It provides healthcare across the entire North Queensland region, with patients from as far as Mount Isa and Cape York being airlifted or transported to the hospital on a daily basis. This is the third general hospital to be built in Townsville with construction completed in 2001. The next main tertiary referral hospital is the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Herston, Brisbane, some 1,375 kilometres (854 mi) distant.

Lavarack Barracks (ICAO: YLVK) is a major Australian Army base located in Townsville, Queensland. Lavarack Barracks is currently home to the Army's 3rd Brigade and 11th Brigade. Elements of the 3rd Brigade based at the Barracks include the Combat Signals Regiment, 3rd Combat Services Support Battalion, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment and the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The barracks are named after Lieutenant General Sir John Lavarack, an Australian Army officer during both World Wars and Governor of Queensland from 1946 to 1957.

Annandale is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Annandale had a population of 8,574 people.

William Ross State High School is an independent public high school situated in the Townsville Suburb of Annandale, North Queensland. William Ross has a student count from grades 7 through to 12 of close to 905 (as of 2020) students which continues to rise annually, particularly considering the school's locality for defence families.William Ross has a large catchment area servicing the suburbs of Annandale, Stuart, Wulguru, Cluden, Serene Valley, Alligator Creek, Cungulla, Oak Valley, Woodstock, Calcium, Idalia, Oonoonba, Fairfield Waters, Rosslea, Douglas, Aitkenvale and Mundingburra. The results of the 2019 school opinion survey showed that 98% of students agree that they are getting a good education at school with 99% of staff enjoying working at their school.The school offers a variety of academic, art and sports programs, and offers a "leading learner" program for junior students (grade 7 -10) . The leading learner program extends student learning in English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities in order to better prepare them for senior school. Student literacy levels have been improved through a program developed by William Ross State High School in conjunction with four primary schools within its catchment area.
