Thomas Dodge Homestead is a historic home in Port Washington, Nassau County, New York. It is a settlement-era farmhouse dated to 1721 with additions completed in approximately 1750 and 1903. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, L-shaped, heavy timber-frame building sheathed with natural cedar wood shingles. The main block has a saltbox shape and there is a nearly square, 1+1⁄2-story gable-roofed wing. Also on the property are a contributing barn (1880), privy (1886), chicken coop, and shed. It is operated as a historic house museum by the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society, which has its headquarters in the Sands-Willets Homestead, another historic house museum. Thomas Dodge Homestead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Main Street School is a historic school building located at Port Washington in Nassau County, New York. It was completed in 1909 in the Georgian Revival style. It was built as a two-story, brick building with stone detailing and a cement-stucco faced raised basement level. A third story was added during a 1917 expansion. It features a steep gable roof topped by an ornamental cupola with four clock faces. The roof has five gable dormers with round-headed windows.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Spectrum Designs Foundation is an autism employment Nonprofit organization in the United States that provides employment to teens and young adults on the Autism Spectrum in a custom apparel shop in Port Washington, NY. It was founded in February 2011 by Patrick Bardsley, Stella Spanakos and Nicole Sugrue, alongside the Nicholas Center (previously Nicholas Center for Autism). Founded in a barn in co-founder Stella Spanakos' back yard, by 2015 Spectrum had grown an average of 80% year-over-yearSpectrum is prominently featured in the upcoming feature-length documentary from Mesh Omnimedia This Business of Autism. This documentary features prominent figures in the Autism community such as Temple Grandin, Michael S. Bernick, Senator Elaine Phillips and Nassau County DA, Madeline Singas. Spectrum was mentioned in a 2016 article in Forbes Magazine entitled "Where is Autism Employment headed in 2017?" In the Spring of 2018, Spectrum completed the purchase of a 7,400 square foot facility in Port Washington, NYIn the summer of 2018, Spectrum Executives Patrick Bardsley and Tim Howe appeared on Cheddar in their segment entitled How to Help Individuals with Autism Enter the Job Market.

The Knickerbocker Yacht Club was a yacht club in Port Washington, New York.The club was founded in 1874, on the Harlem River at 130th Street in Manhattan, to encourage “Yachting and the cultivation of Naval Science and Seamanship”.In 1907, it moved to Port Washington. It started the Knickerbocker Cup race in 1982, which became internationally recognized.At its peak in the early 1980s, membership consisted of approximately 290 families with 165 boats.World champion runner Lon Myers began his track career running for the club. Bus Mosbacher, who skippered two winning teams in the America's Cup races, and world champion sailor Robert Mosbacher were members of the club.As of 2009, it was the second-oldest yacht club on Long Island Sound. Due to the recession and waning membership, the club ceased to exist in 2009 and was sold for $3.2 million to Cord Meyer Development. In July 2012 demolition of the club began, the developers began on a new structure which today is the Knickerbocker Yacht Hotel designed to evoke a cruise ship.
