Aghnahily Ringfort () is a ringfort (rath) and national monument located in County Laois, Ireland.

Dunamase or the Rock of Dunamase (Irish: Dún Másc "fort of Másc") is a rocky outcrop in County Laois, Ireland. Rising 46 metres (151 ft) above a plain, it has the ruins of Dunamase Castle, a defensive stronghold dating from the early Hiberno-Norman period with a view across to the Slieve Bloom Mountains. It is near the N80 road between the towns of Portlaoise and Stradbally.

Stradbally GAA is a Gaelic football club in Stradbally, County Laois, Ireland. The club was founded in 1889 and its colours are green and white. The club grounds are called Bill Delaney Park after one of the club's most famous sons. Stradbally GAA Club has won 17 Laois Senior Football Championship titles and numerous other titles at junior, intermediate and underage grades. After 18 years in existence the championship of 1905 was won when the team defeated Raheenabrogue by 1–4 to 0–3 at Portlaoise on 21 January 1906. 2016 Stradbally bet Portlaoise in the county championship final and stopped their 10 in a row with a last minute goal. Sean Delaney, Karl Lenihan, Tony Maher, Colm Kelly, Damien Delaney, Colm Begley, Greg Ramsbottom, Paul Begley and Gary Kavanagh are among Stradbally's most famous players in recent times.

Portlaoise Prison (Irish: Príosún Phort Laoise) is a maximum security prison in Portlaoise, County Laois, Ireland. Until 1929 it was called the Maryborough Gaol. It should not be confused with the Midlands Prison, which is a newer, medium security prison directly beside it; or with Dunamaise Arts Centre, which was the original Maryborough Gaol built c. 1789. Portlaoise Prison was built in the 1830s, making it one of the oldest still operating today in the Irish prison system. It is the prison in which people convicted of membership of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) and other illegal paramilitary and designated terrorist organisations are usually detained. A number of IRA and dissident republican prisoners are housed in "E Block". The Midlands Prison (Irish: Príosún Lár na Tíre) is a medium security prison in Portlaoise, County Laois. It receives prisoners who are aged 17 years and over. It has a bed capacity of 870 and its daily average number of inmates resident in 2009 was 512.
