Calderara di Reno (Bolognese: Caldarèra) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 10 kilometres (6 mi) northwest of Bologna. The frazione of Sacerno is usually considered the place where, in 43 BC, Octavian, Mark Antony and Lepidus met to set the Second Triumvirate.

The Samoggia is a river in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The source of the river is in the province of Modena near Zocca. The river flows northeast into the Metropolitan City of Bologna and flows near Bazzano, Crespellano, Piumazzo, Anzola dell'Emilia and San Giovanni in Persiceto before entering the Reno east of Decima. The Samoggia has a tributary called the Lavino that flows into it near San Giovanni in Persiceto.

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (Italian: Aeroporto di Bologna-Guglielmo Marconi) (IATA: BLQ, ICAO: LIPE) is an international airport serving the city of Bologna in Italy. It is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) northwest of the city centre in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The airport is named after Bologna native Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian electrical engineer and Nobel laureate.

Borgo Panigale (Bolognese dialect: Al Båurg, Båurg Panighèl) was a district of Bologna, northern Italy. Located in the city's western part, between the rivers Lavino and Reno, it had a population of 24,935 in 2009. Since 2016 it has been part of the Borgo Panigale-Reno district. Until 1937 it was an autonomous municipality, but was annexed to Bologna under the Fascist government. It is home to motorbike manufacturer Ducati, and Bologna Airport. Other industries in the district include Panigal (soap), Santa Rosa (fruit marmalades), Sabiem (elevators) and Fabbri (sweets). The name stems from the ancient Latin toponym Vicus Panicalis, and by the fact that later the area was used for cultivation of the foxtail millet cereal, called panìco in Italian. Elisabetta Sirani painted an altarpiece for the parish church of Borgo Panigale.

On August 6, 2018, the collision of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) road tanker with a car transporter and another articulated lorry carrying flammable solvents resulted in a huge explosion on the A14 motorway within Borgo Panigale, a neighbourhood of Bologna, Italy. It was a case of boiling-liquid expanding-vapour explosion (BLEVE), where nearly all the road tanker cargo combusted in a matter of seconds upon release, generating a tremendous amount of thermal radiation. The accident killed two people, injured 145 and caused significant damage to the surrounding commercial and residential area. One span of the viaduct where it happened collapsed and a gash opened in the motorway.

The Marconi Express is a monorail line in Bologna, Italy. At 5.095 kilometres (3.2 mi) in length, it links Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport to Bologna Centrale railway station, with an intermediate station and depot at Lazzaretto and a travel time of 7 minutes and 20 seconds.The monorail trains have been provided by Intamin Transportation. The three trainsets are each capable of carrying up to 48 passengers. The coordinated design of the infrastructure was carried out by the engineering companies MATE Engineering and STS of Bologna, while the architectural design is by Massimo Iosa Ghini. Building works were completed in 2018 and the line was scheduled to start operating on 7 March 2020. However, the date of inauguration was subsequently postponed. The line has been open to public service since 18 November 2020.However, soon after its inauguration, the service started suffering significant disruptions, culminating in its suspension between November 2021 and February 2022, with surreptitious substitution via normal buses, despite oblivious customers paying the full fare for a service they never received. As of February 2022, the issues persist, and normal buses are still integrating the service.The three trainsets currently operating on Marconi Express can transport a maximum of 576 passengers per hour per direction. The design of the infrastructure allows for up to four trainsets to operate on the line at the same time.
