As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 15,217, reflecting an increase of 1,000 (+7.0%) from the 14,217 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 4,143 (+41.1%) from the 10,074 counted in the 1990 Census.Mantua Township was formed as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 23, 1853, from portions of Greenwich Township. Portions of the township were taken to form East Greenwich Township (February 10, 1881) and Pitman (May 24, 1905). The township is named after Mantua, in Italy or for a Mantua sub-tribe of the Lenape Native Americans.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 08080 was 37,433.Sewell is notable as the site of the Inversand marl pit, the last operational greensand mine in the world. The location has become renowned for its paleontology and is similar to many of the sites studied by early paleontologists, particularly Edward Drinker Cope. It is also home to the Barnsboro Inn, the oldest bar in New Jersey.Sewell is also home to Rowan College of South Jersey Gloucester Main Campus (formerly Rowan College at Gloucester County) and the Gloucester County Institute of Technology, both located within Deptford Township.

Sewell is a defunct commuter railroad station in the Sewell section of Mantua Township, New Jersey, Gloucester County, New Jersey, U.S. Service began in 1861, provided by the West Jersey Railroad, which later became the West Jersey Seashore Lines, and Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Line branch between Millville and Camden. Passenger service was discontinued February 5, 1971. The line was subsumed by Conrail. Freight service operates along Conrail's South Jersey/Philadelphia Shared Assets Operations Vineland Secondary. The community of Sewell was called originally called Barnsboro Station for the stop of the stagecoach line to Barnsboro (to Barnsboro Hotel, for example) and to Hurffville. The area was a summer resort for visitors on route to the Pitman Grove Methodist summer camp meeting. The name remained until the current station house was built. The community of Sewell, and subsequently the station, was named for General William Joyce Sewell (1835–1901), president of the West Jersey & Seashore and the Philadelphia & Camden Ferry Company. The station house was built in 1888 by the West Jersey Railroad. It was purchased in 2006 by local residents who intended to preserve and possibly open ice cream shop, which did not materialize. The site nearby the former station is a proposed stop of the Glassboro–Camden Line, a hybrid rail/light rail initiative to reintroduce rail service to the region using diesel multiple units (DMUs).

Tall Pines State Preserve is a 110-acre (45 ha) nature preserve in Gloucester County, New Jersey, that opened in November 2015. The first state park in Gloucester County, it is located on Bark Bridge Road in Deptford Township and the Sewell section of Mantua Township.The project was a cooperative effort of the South Jersey Land and Water Trust, the Friends of Tall Pines, Gloucester County Nature Club, and the New Jersey Green Acres Program.

The Memorial Presbyterian Church is located at 202 E. Mantua Avenue in the borough of Wenonah in Gloucester County, New Jersey. The church was designed by architect Isaac Newton Pursell in Late Gothic Revival style and built in 1904. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 7, 2013, for its significance in architecture.

Wenonah is a borough in Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 2,278, reflecting a decline of 39 (-1.7%) from the 2,317 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 14 (-0.6%) from the 2,331 counted in the 1990 Census. It is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Wenonah was established as a Borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 10, 1883, from portions of Deptford Township, based on the results of a referendum that was held two days earlier. The borough was named for the mother of Hiawatha in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's work The Song of Hiawatha.It is a dry town, where alcohol cannot be sold.The borough had the 29th-highest property tax rate in New Jersey, with an equalized rate of 4.120% in 2020, compared to 3.212% in the county as a whole and a statewide average of 2.279%.

The Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park, located in Mantua Township, New Jersey, consists of a 66-million-year-old 6-inch (150 mm) bone bed set into a 65-acre (26 ha) former marl quarry. It is currently the only facility east of the Mississippi River that has an active open quarry for public Community Dig Days. Formed at the end of the Cretaceous Period during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, this rich fossil deposit is abundant in marine life which is indicative of the shallow sea that once covered the area that would become Southern New Jersey. The fossil park is undergoing renovations to become the site of the Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park Museum and will be available for school, scout, camp, and public programs once construction is complete. It is currently closed to the public and will reopen after the completion of the museum in 2023. The Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park is owned and operated by Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey thanks in part to a generous donation from Jean and Ric Edelman.
