Çağlayan (Istanbul Metro)

The Istanbul Çağlayan Justice Palace (Turkish: İstanbul Çağlayan Adalet Sarayı) is a courthouse in the Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey. Inaugurated in July 2011, it is the largest courthouse in Europe, with an area of over 300,000 m2 (3,200,000 sq ft). It was built by the VARYAP construction subsidiary of the Varlıbaş Group.

The Monument of Liberty or Monument of Eternal Liberty (Turkish: Hürriyet Anıtı; Ottoman Turkish: Abide-i Hürriyet), located in the Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey, is a memorial in honor of the soldiers killed defending the Ottoman parliament against rebelling forces during the 31 March Incident. The Tanzimat reforms, which began in 1839, along with other subsequent liberalization processes, were strongly opposed by conservatives in the Ottoman Empire. They hoped to re-affirm the monarchic powers of the Sultan Abdulhamid II as absolute monarch, even though the Sultan himself came to power accepting a Constitution and opening the first Ottoman parliament, the General Assembly of the Ottoman Empire, in 1876 during the First Constitutional Era. Parliament was adjourned in 1878 with the pretext of the Russian War and Abdulhamid II reigned as an absolute monarch for over 30 years until 1908, when Parliament resumed its activities in the Second Constitutional Era, upon pressure of the progressive forces in the Empire. However, a reactionary uprising that began on April 13, 1909 (March 31, 1325 AH in Rumi calendar) caused the democratic process to be interrupted once again. Progressive forces of the "Hareket Ordusu" (Turkish for "Army of Action") that came from the Rumelia, under the command of Mahmud Șevked Pasha, suppressed the countercoup on July 23, 1909. Abdulhamid II was deposed by the Committee of Union and Progress, the foremost constitutionalist party, and sent to exile in Salonica, then part of the Ottoman Empire. The monument was inaugurated in 1911, at the second anniversary of the 31 March Incident. The complex also holds the graves of four notable Ottoman high-ranked officials, which were moved here in a later time. The monument, seen today as a symbol of modernity, democracy, and secularism in Turkey, serves as a place of some official ceremonies and public gatherings.

İsmail Enver, better known as Enver Pasha (Ottoman Turkish: اسماعیل انور پاشا; Turkish: İsmail Enver Paşa; 22 November 1881 – 4 August 1922) was an Ottoman military officer, revolutionary, and convicted war criminal who formed one-third of the dictatorial triumvirate known as the "Three Pashas" (along with Talaat Pasha and Cemal Pasha) in the Ottoman Empire. Enver was a member of the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP), a Young Turk organization that agitated against Abdul Hamid II's absolute rule. He was a leader of the 1908 Young Turk Revolution which reestablished the Constitution and parliamentary democracy in the Ottoman Empire, and along with Ahmed Niyazi was hailed as "hero of the revolution". However multiple crises in the Empire including the 31 March Incident, the Balkan Wars, and the power struggle with the Freedom and Accord Party made Enver and the Unionists disillusioned of political pluralism. After the 1913 Ottoman coup d’état that brought the CUP directly to power, Enver Pasha took control of the Ottoman army, becoming (4 January 1914) the Minister of War, while Talaat took control over the civilian government. As war minister and de facto Commander-in-Chief (despite his role as the de jure Deputy Commander-in-Chief, as the Sultan formally held the title), Enver Pasha was one of the most powerful figures of the government of the Ottoman Empire. Enver Pasha led a disastrous attack on Russian forces in the Battle of Sarikamish, after which he blamed Armenians for his defeat. Along with Talaat, he was one of the principal perpetrators of the Late Ottoman Genocides and thus is held responsible for the death of between 800,000 and 1,800,000 Armenians, 300,000 Assyrians and 750,000 Greeks. Following defeat in World War I, Enver, along with other leading Unionists, escaped the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Military Tribunal convicted Enver Pasha and other Unionists to death in absentia for bringing the Empire into World War I and organizing massacres against Greeks and Armenians. Enver ended up in Central Asia, where he was killed leading the Basmachi Revolt against the Bolsheviks. In the course of his career he was known by increasingly elevated titles as he rose through military ranks, including Enver Efendi (انور افندی), Enver Bey (انور بك), and finally Enver Pasha, "pasha" being the honorary title Ottoman military officers gained on promotion to the rank of Mirliva (major general).

The station was opened on 8 September 2008 as part of the ten station eastward expansion of the line.

Kağıthane is a rapid transit complex, partly currently under construction, on the M7 and M11 lines of the Istanbul Metro. The complex will be located above ground on the metro viaducts crossing the Kağıthane Creek. The M7 platform of the complex opened in 2020 ,with the expected opening of the M11 platform in August 2022.Kağıthane station was originally planned to be completed in 2017, however construction delays pushed the opening back to first 2018 and then 2019. The complex is the first metro station within central Kağıthane.

The Şişli Mosque (Turkish: Şişli Camii) is a mosque located in Şişli Square between the Büyükdere Avenue, the Halaskargazi and Abide-i Hürriyet streets in the Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey.Due to lack of any mosque in Şişli, which got incorporated into the urban area with the rapid expansion of the city in the 1940s, the residents demanded the building of a mosque. With the initiative of Mayor Lütfi Kırdar, a land of 3,219 m2 (34,650 sq ft) was left over to a symbolic price to the trustees of the mosque.Designed in classical Ottoman architectural style by architect Ali Vasfi Egeli, its construction began in 1945, and it was opened to worship in 1949. It is the first mosque in Turkey ever built after 1923, in the Republican era.The mosque, built of gritstone (coarse-grained sandstone) ashlar, is situated in a walled courtyard having three gates. The building has a porticoed entrance porch, is topped with a main dome flanked by three half-domes, and has a minaret featuring one gallery with muqarnas.Over the hobnailed main entrance door, a calligraphic inscription in Arabic script is fixed, which was created by Hamid Aytaç (1891-1982). In the center of the courtyard, a dodecagon-shaped sadirvan spends water for ritual washing wudu. The courtyard houses also spaces for the imam, muezzin, other mosque officials, and a library.The entrance to the mosque is reached by stairs. Inside, a marble fountain is situated in the center. Pews are located on both sides of the entrance. The ground is covered by a rose-colored carpet, and heated underground. The ceiling is decorated. There are calligraphic scripts on the inner walls. The windows over the marble-made mihrab are of stained glass.

Ara Güler Museum (Turkish: Ara Güler Müzesi) is a photography museum in Istanbul, Turkey, exhibiting photographs taken by the photojournalist Ara Güler. Established in 2018, the museum also houses an archive of his work. Ara Güler Museum was opened on 16 August 2018, on the 90th birthday of the photojournalist Ara Güler, and is located at Bomontiada in Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey. The museum's foundation goes back to the collaboration of Doğuş Group with Ara Güler in 2016. The opening exhibition featured under the title "The Whistling Man" ("Islık Çalan Adam"). Güler's photographs focus on humans, Istanbul, and Turkey in the second half of the 20th century which shaped the individual and social memory of this location.The museum houses also an archive and research center ("Ara Güler Arşiv ve Araştırma Merkezi", AGAVAM). An archive team led by an art consultant at Doğuş Group carried out a two-year project on the classification, inventory, preservation, digitization and indexing of hundreds of thousands of Ara Güler's works. The archive collections are available to photography enthusiasts and researchers through a portal.Ara Güler (16 August 1928 – 17 October 2018) was a notable Armenian-Turkish photojournalist, nicknamed "the Eye of Istanbul" or "the Photographer of Istanbul".Admission to the museum is free of charge.

Trump Towers Istanbul are two conjoined towers in Şişli, Istanbul, Turkey. One of the towers is an office tower, and the other a residential tower, consisting of over 200 residences. The complex also holds a shopping mall with some 80 shops and a multiplex cinema. They are the first Trump Towers built on the European continent. The property developer is Turkish billionaire Aydın Doğan, in a license-partnership with American businessman Donald Trump. His daughter Ivanka Trump attended the April 2012 launch with Erdoğan. Many businesses based in Europe and the Middle East occupy the complex. The original licensee holder was Miami developer Adi Chabli. Chabli originally brought Trump to Turkey and held the license prior to negotiating and subsequently transferring the rights to Istanbul to Dogan Group.The residential tower includes the only collective wine cellar in Turkey, the cellar being built by Focus Wine Cellars.Among the buildings' prominent tenants is Iranian-born businessman Reza Zarrab.

Kâğıthane (Turkish pronunciation: [caˈɯthane]) or Glykà Nerà (Γλυκά Νερά Greek pronunciation: [ɡliˈka neˈra], 'sweet waters') is an area of Istanbul, Turkey. Formerly a working class district, it has become one of the largest real estate development areas in the city. The district is located on the European side and extends over the shores of Cendere, the stream that discharges into the Golden Horn. The Cendere Valley is surrounded by the Sarıyer, Eyüp, Şişli, Beşiktaş, and Beyoğlu districts. The mayor is Fazlı Kılıç of Ak Parti. Kâğıthane was part of Beyoğlu until 1954 and part of Şişli between 1954 and 1987.

The Şişli Armenian Cemetery is an Armenian cemetery in the Şişli district of Istanbul, Turkey which is operated and served by the Armenian community of Turkey.

Şişli (pronounced [ˈʃiʃli]) is one of the 39 districts of Istanbul, Turkey. Located on the European side of the city, it is bordered by Beşiktaş to the east, Sarıyer to the north, Eyüp and Kağıthane to the west, and Beyoğlu to the south. In 2009, Şişli had a population of 316,058.
