Lydney power station

Norchard is a railway station on the Dean Forest Railway, near Lydney in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Norchard is the main station of the Dean Forest Railway. Complete with sidings and a shed, it is the engineering base of the railway. Also to be found at this station are the museum, gift shop, cafe, toilets, main ticket office, and a large free car park. Around Norchard there are many footpaths providing access to the forest, many with views of the trains. Access between the ticket office and the platforms is via a level crossing. The station has three platforms, two at the Low Level station, plus one at the high level. Platform 2 has the purpose-built cafe and the 9681 shop which is in a coach. Norchard High Level has just one platform (Platform 3), but it serves trains from both Lydney Junction and Parkend, making it the main platform.

Tufts Junction was a junction on the Severn and Wye Railway between Lydney Town and Whitecroft, England. The junction is now on the Dean Forest Railway between Norchard and Whitecroft.

The town has been bypassed by the A48 road since 1995. The population was about 8,960 in the 2001 census, reducing to 8,766 at the 2011 census. Increasing to 10,043 at the 2021 Census.Lydney has a harbour on the Severn, created when the Lydney Canal was built. Adjoining the town, Lydney Park gardens have a Roman temple dedicated to Nodens.

White Cross Manor was the manor house in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, of the Wynter family. It was burnt to the ground in April 1645 on the orders of Sir John Wynter to avoid it being taken over by the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War.White Cross Manor was where Edward Swarthye, a Black man, is recorded as whipping John Guye.Another manor house, Lydney House, was later built at the other end of its grounds.

The Dean Forest Railway is a 4+1⁄4-mile (6.8 km) long heritage railway that runs between Lydney and Parkend in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The route was part of the former Severn and Wye Railway which ran from Lydney to Cinderford. The society that operates the line started steam locomotive operations in 1971, and bought the trackbed and line from British Rail in 1986, reaching Lydney Junction in 1995 and Parkend in 2005. Trains are operated by both steam and heritage diesel locomotives, and heritage diesel multiple units. The Dean Forest Railway has been given the former Griffithstown Station building. Its removal was completed in June 2016, and is expected to be placed at the new upcoming Speech House Road. CrossCountry are now providing a combined fare for travel to Lydney mainline station (on CrossCountry services only) and then onto the Dean Forest Railway.The Dean Forest Railway plans to extend its heritage services a further 2+1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) through/into the middle of the Royal Forest at Speech House Road (close to the nearby Beechenhurst Visitor Attraction), bringing the line to a total of about 6+3⁄4 miles (10.9 km) in length. In 2016, DFR's director of civil engineering and director of development Jason Shirley announced plans to expand the railway to Cinderford. The project's status as a strategic regional development means that a large proportion of the estimated £8million cost could be met by Government funding.

Recreational Trust Ground is a cricket ground in Lydney, Gloucestershire. The first inter-county match on the ground was in 1962, when the Gloucestershire Second XI played the Glamorgan Second XI in the Second XI Championship.In 1963, Gloucestershire played Surrey in the ground's first first-class match. Gloucestershire played 8 first-class matches at the ground from 1963 to 1968, the last of which saw them play Sussex in the 1968 County Championship.As well as hosting first-class cricket the ground has also hosted List-A matches. The first List-A match held there came in the 1969 Player's County League when Gloucestershire played Sussex. From 1969 to 1975, Gloucestershire played 8 List-A matches there, the last of which saw them play Glamorgan in the 1975 John Player League.The ground has also played host to 14 matches involving the Gloucestershire Second XI in the Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.The ground is the home venue of Lydney Cricket Club, which has played at the ground since 1949.

Lydney Town A.F.C. are a football club based in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England. They are currently member of the Hellenic League Premier Division. The club is affiliated to the Gloucestershire County FA.

St. Mary's Halt was a small railway station halt on the Dean Forest Railway. It served the local park and lake, both near the station, and was the original southern terminus of the DFR from 1991 to 1995.
