Allaston is a village in Gloucestershire, England, now forming part of the town of Lydney. Allaston was mentioned in the Domesday Book, when it was part of Bledisloe Hundred.

The first inter-county match on the ground was in 1962, when the Gloucestershire Second XI played the Glamorgan Second XI in the Second XI Championship.In 1963, Gloucestershire played Surrey in the ground's first first-class match. Gloucestershire played 8 first-class matches at the ground from 1963 to 1968, the last of which saw them play Sussex in the 1968 County Championship.As well as hosting first-class cricket the ground has also hosted List-A matches. The first List-A match held there came in the 1969 Player's County League when Gloucestershire played Sussex. From 1969 to 1975, Gloucestershire played 8 List-A matches there, the last of which saw them play Glamorgan in the 1975 John Player League.The ground has also played host to 14 matches involving the Gloucestershire Second XI in the Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.The ground is the home venue of Lydney Cricket Club, which has played at the ground since 1949.

Lydney Town A.F.C. are a football club based in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England. They are currently member of the Hellenic League Premier Division. The club is affiliated to the Gloucestershire County FA.

Tufts Junction was a junction on the Severn and Wye Railway between Lydney Town and Whitecroft, England. The junction is now on the Dean Forest Railway between Norchard and Whitecroft.

White Cross Manor was the manor house in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, of the Wynter family. It was burnt to the ground in April 1645 on the orders of Sir John Wynter to avoid it being taken over by the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War.White Cross Manor was where Edward Swarthye, a Black man, is recorded as whipping John Guye.Another manor house, Lydney House, was later built at the other end of its grounds.

St. Mary's Halt was a small railway station halt on the Dean Forest Railway. It served the local park and lake, both near the station, and was the original southern terminus of the DFR from 1991 to 1995.

The Lydney power station supplied electricity to 300 square miles (780 km2) of West Gloucestershire, England from 1923 until 1967. The supply area included the Forest of Dean, Stroud and Nailsworth. The station was owned by the West Gloucestershire Power Company Limited prior to the nationalisation of the British electricity supply industry in 1948. The station was closed in 1967.

Norchard is a railway station on the Dean Forest Railway, near Lydney in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Norchard is the main station of the Dean Forest Railway. Complete with sidings and a shed, it is the engineering base of the railway. Also to be found at this station are the museum, gift shop, cafe, toilets, main ticket office, and a large free car park. Around Norchard there are many footpaths providing access to the forest, many with views of the trains. Access between the ticket office and the platforms is via a level crossing. The station has three platforms, two at the Low Level station, plus one at the high level. Platform 2 has the purpose-built cafe and the 9681 shop which is in a coach. Norchard High Level has just one platform (Platform 3), but it serves trains from both Lydney Junction and Parkend, making it the main platform.

Lydney Junction railway station is a railway station near Lydney in Gloucestershire. The station is now the southern terminus of the Dean Forest Railway. It is located to the south of Lydney, near the A48 road. The diesel department of the preserved line uses Lydney Junction as a base of operations.
