Kauppi (district)

Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Finnish: Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu, TAMK) is a university of applied sciences (a polytechnic) in the region of Pirkanmaa, Finland. Together with Tampere University, TAMK constitutes the Tampere higher education community.Founded in 1996, TAMK merged with the Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences in 2010. TAMK's main campus is located in the city of Tampere, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the city centre. There is one other smaller campus in Tampere, Mediapolis, focusing on Media and Arts education.

Teiskontie is a street and highway in Tampere, Finland. As its name implies, it runs from the center of Tampere towards Teisko, a former municipality connected to Tampere in 1972. To the east of the highway junction of Hervanta, it is part of Highway 12 leading in the direction of Lahti and Kouvola. On the east side of Lake Alasjärvi, Teiskontie has a connection to Highway 9 (E63) leading in the direction of Jyväskylä and Kuopio. Teiskontie starts at the intersection of Itsenäisyydenkatu, Kalevan puistotie and Sammonkatu in the Liisankallio district. It runs through Kaleva as a wide esplanade with residential apartment buildings and commercial premises. To the east, Teiskontie runs between several districts: Kauppi and Niihama border to the north, Kissanmaa, Ruotula, Takahuhti and Pappila to the south.The tram leading from the center of Tampere to the University Hospital runs part of the journey on Teiskontie and there are two stops along it. Tram traffic began in August 2021.

Kauppi Stadium is a pesäpallo stadium located in Tampere, Finland. Since its opening in 2022, it has been the home field of the Manse PP, a Superpesis team. Kauppi Stadium is located in the Kauppi Sports Park. The seats are tightly crowded and located very close to the field. The back field overlooks a wooded landscape.

Kissanmaa is a district in the eastern part of Tampere, Finland, along the Teiskontie street. It belongs to the subdivision of Sampo, and it is located 3 kilometers from the city center. Kissanmaa is surrounded by Ruotula and Uusikylä in the east, Hakametsä in the south, Kaleva in the west and Kauppi in the north. Most of the residential houses are detached houses, but there are also apartment buildings of different sizes in the western part of the area. The area is best known for Finland's first ice rink, Tampere Ice Stadium, and training hall, completed in 1965. The first town plan of Kissanmaa was established in 1958.

The Kyiv Park (Finnish: Kiovanpuisto) is a public park located in the Kaleva district, city of Tampere, Finland. Tampere and Kyiv have been twin cities since 1954 and for the city of Tampere Kyiv was the first twin city outside the Nordic countries.In the middle of the park there is a statue called Ystävyyskaupunkiveistos (literary "twin city sculpture") depicting two girls holding a hoop. The atelier house of Tampere is located at the edge of the park. A large part of the park is considered built cultural heritage.

Kaleva is an eastern part of the city of Tampere, Finland, located south of the Kauppi district. It is part of larger Sampo district. The population of Kaleva is approximately 10,000 (2005). The most notable landmark is the Kaleva Church built between 1959 and 1966, and located in the Liisankallio district. Kaleva has many educational institutions, the folk high school Sampola and vocational school of economics, two high schools (lukio); Kalevan lukio and Sammon keskuslukio, and two comprehensive schools. It's also the home of the biggest swimming hall in Tampere. Most locals are students from Tampere University or pensioners. In 2007 Kaleva topped being the most poor part of the town.[1]One of the notables residents in Kaleva is Sanna Marin, the current Prime Minister of Finland.

Kalevanrinne is a district of Tampere, Finland. It is located in the Sampo area between the districts of Kaleva and Järvensivu, bordering Liisankallio and Kalevanharju in the west, Hakametsä and Vuohenoja in the east. The city plan of Kalevanrinne was confirmed in 1951 and supplemented in 1955 and 1960. Kalevanrinne has a hypermarket Prisma, a pet store Musti ja Mirri and an electronics store Gigantti. There are also 13 planned apartment buildings in the area, which means that the Kalevanrinne residential area, located between Kalevantie and Sammonkatu, is planned to have about 1,360 inhabitants. The planned area is about 3,5 hectares in size.Kalevanrinne was once known in 1918 as the location of a prison camp for red prisoners during the Finnish Civil War.

The Tampere Baptist Church (also known as the Tampere Baptist Congregation; Finnish: Tampereen baptistiseurakunta) is a Finnish Baptist congregation in Tampere, Finland. It belongs to the Finnish Baptist Church and was founded in 1890. The current congregation building is located in the Kissanmaa district of Tampere.

Petsamo is a district of Tampere, Finland. The district is named after Pechenga (Finnish: Petsamo), which Finland acquired in the Treaty of Tartu. At the same time as Soviet Russia ceded Petsamo to Finland in 1920, some large Tamperean industrial plants began to build a residential area for their working population on the northeast corner of the city. When the area seemed to be far from the center, the informal name of the district was born as a result of the image.The neighboring parts of Petsamo are Kauppi, Kaleva, Liisankallio, Tammela, Osmonmäki, Lappi and Lapinniemi. Petsamo is bordered on the north by Kauppi, on the east by Kauppi and Kaleva, on the south by the Ilmarinkatu street and in the west by Tammela. The Litukka's allotment garden, founded in 1922, is located in the Petsamo and Kauppi districts. The name Litukka is derived from Vilhelmiina and Erland Litukka, who moved from Pirkkala to the area in the late 19th century and built a small farm on land leased from the city of Tampere. Before the allotment garden, a nursery for schoolchildren was established in the Litukka area. Tampere's eastern bypass, Kekkosentie, completed in 1989, bisects the allotment garden and the entire Petsamo district. In addition to the allotment garden, the area is home to Kauppi's old hospital area, Kauppi's observatory, and Kauppi's both old and new water towers.

Tampere camp (also Kalevankangas camp) was a concentration camp operating from 6 April 1918 to 15 September 1918 in the Kaleva district of Tampere, Finland. It was set up for the Reds captured by the White Army after the Finnish Civil War Battle of Tampere.

Kaleva Church (Finnish: Kalevan kirkko; Swedish: Kalevakyrkan) is an Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland church building in the Liisankallio district of Tampere, Finland. It was designed by Reima and Raili Pietilä and built in 1964–66. The church accommodates approximately 1,120 people. It is considered an example of modern architectural style and is one of the main sights of Tampere.

Tampere Ice Stadium (Finnish: Tampereen jäähalli, often called Hakametsä) is an indoor sports arena in Tampere, Finland. It is primarily used for ice hockey, and it was the former home arena of Ilves and Tappara of the Finnish Liiga, until after the matches both teams played in November 2021, they moved to play the following matches in the new Nokia Arena. Today, the Ice Stadium is currently in use by the Koovee team. The ice hall, designed by the architect Jaakko Tähtinen was built for the 1965 World Ice Hockey Championships and opened the same year. The current capacity of the ice hall for hockey games is 7,300 spectators (5,629 seats, 1,359 standing, 312 suites). Tampere ice stadium is the third biggest ice hall in the Finnish ice hockey league. As there are several ice hockey venues in Tampere, this primary one is usually called "Hakametsän jäähalli" (after the district where it is located) or, more precisely, "Hakametsä 1" to distinguish it from the two smaller halls nearby.
