Villa Salmela, also known as the Summer home of Karelians, is a villa in the Jollas area of Laajasalo in Helsinki, Finland. It is located in the Villinki Strait opposite the island of Villinki. A summer café is operated in the villa. The villa also has a sauna, which can be used by the public at certain times. The villa is administered by the association Pääsky, which is formed by all the Karelian associations of the Greater Helsinki area.The villa was built in 1886. At the time, it could be reached by a boat three times a week. The original name of the villa was Villa Bergsund, and its first owner was the Actual State Councillor Jaakko Sjölin (1836–1916), who worked as the general director of the Land Survey of Uusimaa. Altogether the villa has had five owners.The city of Helsinki bought the villa, and in 1969 it rented it out to the Karelian associations of the Greater Helsinki. This led to the formation of the association Pääsky, the association of Karelian societies in the Greater Helsinki area. In 2006, the association initiated the renovation and development of the villa. Stairs were built to the villa, and a patio café was built. In 2010, the houses in the area were connected to the water pipe and sewage network of the city, and modern sanitary facilities were built in the villa. The kitchen was renovated, the ovens were rebuilt, and the floors were repaired.

In the Viking era the coastal waterway from Sweden to Arab world went between Tammisalo and the continent along Porolahti bay. A particularly remarkable building in the low-rise suburb of Tammisalo is the 5-storey house called Tammelund, designed by architect Antti Rantanen (1935), which in terms of its proportions and number of windows (over 100), is regarded as a "miniature skyscraper". Tammisalo is also renowned for housing projects designed by famous modernist architect Timo Penttilä.

Rastila

Rastila (Swedish: Rastböle) is an eastern suburb in the Vuosaari district of Helsinki, Finland. Rastila lies to the north of the arterial road Vuotie (Sw. Norvägen); to the south lies Meri-Rastila (Sw. Havs-Rastböle), which is often understood as part of Rastila. Rastila metro station opened in 1998. Rastila is mostly populated by families in detached houses, but around the station there are new blocks of flats for 2000 inhabitants. Santahamina

Santahamina (Swedish: Sandhamn) is an island and neighbourhood of Eastern Helsinki, Finland. At present it is a military base housing the Guard Jaeger Regiment, making access restricted. The Finnish National Defence University (NDU) is also located on the island. Santahamina housed before 2007 a mediumwave broadcasting station used by Yle for broadcasting on 558 kHz with 100 kW.

Roihuvuori

Roihuvuori (Swedish: Kasberget, or Roihis and Roihika, literal translation Blaze Mountain) is a quarter, part of Herttoniemi neighbourhood in Helsinki, Finland. The population of Roihuvuori is approximately 8,000 and its area is 1.47 km². There is a church, two schools, shops and restaurants in Roihuvuori. There is also a water tower, Japanese style garden, playground Tuhkimo and Kirsikkapuisto where a Hanami festival is held. Each street in Roihuvuori was named after fairy tales, with the exception being Roihuvuori's main street (Roihuvuorentie). For example, Lumikintie is "Snow White Street" and Tuhkimotie is "Cinderella Street".
