Brasília (; Portuguese: [bɾaˈziljɐ]) is the federal capital of Brazil and seat of government of the Federal District. The city is located high in the Brazilian highlands in the country's Central-West region. It was founded by President Juscelino Kubitschek on 21 April 1960, to serve as the new national capital. Brasília is estimated to be Brazil's third-most populous city. Among major Latin American cities, it has the highest GDP per capita.Brasília was a planned city developed by Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and Joaquim Cardozo in 1956 in a scheme to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. The landscape architect was Roberto Burle Marx. The city's design divides it into numbered blocks as well as sectors for specified activities, such as the Hotel Sector, the Banking Sector, and the Embassy Sector. Brasília was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 due to its modernist architecture and uniquely artistic urban planning. It was named "City of Design" by UNESCO in October 2017 and has been part of the Creative Cities Network since then.All three branches of Brazil's federal government are centered in the city: executive, legislative and judiciary. Brasília also hosts 124 foreign embassies. The city's international airport connects it to all other major Brazilian cities and some international destinations, and it is the third-busiest airport in Brazil. It was one of the main host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and hosted some of the football matches during the 2016 Summer Olympics; it also hosted the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. The city has a unique status in Brazil, as it is an administrative division rather than a legal municipality like other cities in Brazil. Although Brasília is used as a synonym for the Federal District through synecdoche, the Federal District is composed of 33 administrative regions, only one of which is the area of the originally planned city, also called Plano Piloto. The rest of the Federal District is considered by IBGE to make up Brasília's metro area.

It was opened in 1971 and is located near the bus station in the Central Zone of Brasília. It is the largest mall in the Federal District and is among the top 30 of Brazil, with 320 stores and 118,100 square meters built.

The Cláudio Santoro National Theater (Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro) is a multi-theater building in Brasília, Brazil. It was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the Modern architectural style. Construction began on July 30, 1960, and the building was completed in 1966. Built in the shape of a truncated pyramid, it is the largest building in Brasilia designed by Niemeyer specifically for the arts. The building was closed for renovation in 1976, and was reopened on April 21, 1981. The National Theater is operated by Secretary of Culture of the Federal District and is home to three venues; the 60-seat Alberto Nepomuceno theater, the 407-seat Martins Pena theater, and the 1,407 seat Villa-Lobos theater. The complex also includes an exhibition gallery that is accessible to the public.The Theater has been under renovation for more than two years and remains closed to the public.

SENAI is one of the most important institutions in the country providing formal training for specialized workers for the industry, in the areas of chemistry, mechanics, construction, etc. SENAI has 744 operational units in all states of the Union, which offer more than 1,800 courses. SENAI is part of an integrated social action system which was founded by industry and political leaders in the 1950s, under the leadership of Euvaldo Lodi, which includes SESI (Social Service for Industry), and the Instituto Euvaldo Lodi.

The Base Hospital of the Federal District (Portuguese: Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal) is a hospital in Brasília, and is part of the Unified Health System. It is the second largest hospital in numbers of hospital beds in the Center-West Region, Brazil. The hospital opened on September 12, 1960, anniversary date of the President Juscelino Kubitschek. Currently HB's staff of over 3,500 provides the largest number of inpatient treatments in the city and conducts over 600,000 visits to the emergency department and the outpatient clinic annually. Of these, are performed around 12,000 surgeries. It has 200 toilets, 14 lifts, over 52 thousand square meters of constructed area. It is also reference in Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Transplant surgery, Epilepsy Treatment, Multiple sclerosis and 24 hours accident & emergency service. On March 14, 1985, it received the President-elect Tancredo Neves, a day before taking office, he felt severe abdominal pain. After surgery, he was transferred on March 26 to the Heart Institute of São Paulo.

TV Globo Brasília (channel 10) is a television station licensed to Brasília, Federal District, Brazil serving as the TV Globo station for the capital and its surrounding areas, owned-and-operated by Grupo Globo. Due to difficult reception in some areas, the station also operates on channel 20 UHF in Gama and Brazlândia. Its studios are in the North Radio and Television Sector (SRTVN), in the North Wing of Plano Piloto, and its transmitters are in the Brasília Digital TV Tower, in the administrative region of Lago Norte.

The Brasília TV Tower is a radio and television transmission tower built in Brasilia and inaugurated in 1967 with 224 meters high. It is located at the Monumental Axis, in the Burle Marx Garden, and besides the tower itself, which has a belvedere and a museum, the Museum of Gems, its immediate surroundings have several attractions, such as the Fair Tower and the TV Tower Fountain, which makes the place one of the most visited by tourists, receiving from ten to twelve thousand people a week. The tower originally had a height of 218 metres. The tower added another six metres after additions by the TV channel Bandeirantes. First it was 212 then it added for the current height of 224 metres. The tower is the fourth tallest structure in Brazil and is also one of the most noticeable from Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge. It is located on Brasilia's Monumental Axis.

The Central Bank of Brazil (Portuguese: Banco Central do Brasil) is Brazil's central bank. It was established on Thursday, 31 December 1964, a New Year's Eve. The bank is not linked to any ministry, currently being autonomous. Like other central banks, the Brazilian central bank is the principal monetary authority of the country. It received this authority when it was founded by three different institutions: the Bureau of Currency and Credit (SUMOC), the Bank of Brazil (BB), and the National Treasury. One of the main instruments of Brazil's monetary policy is the Banco Central do Brasil's overnight rate, called the SELIC rate. It is managed by Monetary Policy Committee (COPOM) of the bank.The bank is active in promoting financial inclusion policy and is a leading member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. It is also one of the original 17 regulatory institutions to make specific national commitments to financial inclusion under the Maya Declaration. during the 2011 Global Policy Forum in Mexico. Since 25 February 2021, it is independent from Federal Government.

The Cathedral of Brasília (Portuguese: Catedral Metropolitana de Brasília, "Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasília") is the Roman Catholic cathedral serving Brasília, Brazil, and serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Brasília. It was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and calculated by Brazilian structural engineer Joaquim Cardozo, and was completed and dedicated on May 31, 1970. The cathedral is a hyperboloid structure constructed from 16 concrete columns, weighing 90 tons each.
