The Battle of Ryesgade was a nine-day series of street fights in mid-September 1986, in the Copenhagen street Ryesgade. It was the most violent event in a long-standing conflict between the Copenhagen City Council and the city's community of squatters. Faced with an ultimatum to leave their illegally occupied housing or face eviction, the squatters instead fortified the streets around their building so strongly that it became a cop-free zone. They took advantage of this lack of control by burning down a building belonging to the Sperry Corporation. For nine days, massed police unsuccessfully attempted to evict the squatters. The civil disorder was of a magnitude never before seen in Denmark. After communicating a manifesto through the media, the defenders finally abandoned the squat and dispersed without being apprehended.

Sortedam Lake (Danish: Sortedams Sø) is a lake at Copenhagen in Denmark. A vertical slope was added in the area in 1929. In September 2012 it was announced that there were plans to build a floating bridge on the lake, and construction material left from digging tunnels would be placed on the eastern part of Sortedam in the Østerbrogade (‘Lille Trianglen’) area. Painter Christen Købke lived near the lake in the 1830s, and painted Efterårsmorgen ved Sortedamssøen in 1838.

Sortedam Dossering is a street that follows the western shore of Sortedam Lake, from Nørrebrogade in the south to Østerbrogade in the north, in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The section north of Helgesensgade is closed to cars. The section from Nørrebrogade to Fredensgade is in Nørrebro while the section from Fredensgade to Østerbrogade belongs to Østerbro. The southwestern continuation of the street, along Peblinge Lake, with only the short stretch between Nørrebrogade and Baggesensgade open to car traffic, is called Peblinge Dossering. Collectively Sortedam Dossering and Peblinge Dossering are known as Dosseringen (definite form). The path along the shore of St. Jørgen's Lake, the lake furthest to the south, is called Svineryggen ('The Rack of Pork').

Ryesgade is a street straddling the border of the Nørrebro and Østerbro districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. Together with Ravnsborggade, its continuation to the south, it forms the backbone of a small neighbourhood bounded by The Lakes to the east, Blegdamsvej to the west, Nørrebrogade to the south and Østerbrogade to the north. The busy artery Fredensgade and the adjacent Fredens Park, effectively separates the Nørrebro and Østerbro portions of Ryesgade from each other. Ryesgade was formerly known for its many second-hand stores of which a few still exist today.

The Niels Bohr Institute (Danish: Niels Bohr Institutet) is a research institute of the University of Copenhagen. The research of the institute spans astronomy, geophysics, nanotechnology, particle physics, quantum mechanics and biophysics.

Blegdamsvej is a street in Copenhagen, Denmark, connecting Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro to Trianglen in Østerbro. The busy artery Fredensgade separates the Nørrebro and Østerbro sections of the street from each other. The north side of the street is dominated by the Panum Building and Rigshospitalet, located on either side of Tagensvej.

The City Campus is one of the University of Copenhagen's four campuses in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is home to the Faculty of Social Sciences and parts of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Science. The main campus area, the Center for Health and Society (Danish: Center for Sundhed og Samfund, abbr. CSS), is situated on Øster Farimagsgade, across the street from the University's Botanical Garden, which is also part of the campus area. The City Campus also comprises a building on Øster Voldgade (Mo. 10) and the university headquarters on Frue Plads.

Rigshospitalet (meaning The National, State or Hospital of the Realm, but not usually translated) is the largest public and teaching hospital in Copenhagen and the most highly specialised hospital in Denmark. The hospital's main building is a 16-storey functionalist highrise, one of the tallest structures in the central parts of the city. Rigshospitalet neighbours the Panum Building which houses the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. As a teaching hospital it is part of the framework organisation Copenhagen University Hospital.

The Lakes (Danish: Søerne) in Copenhagen, Denmark is a row of three rectangular lakes curving around the western margin of the City Centre, forming one of the oldest and most distinctive features of the city's topography. The paths around them are popular with strollers, bikers and runners.

The Danish Order of Freemasons (Danish: Den Danske Frimurerorden, abbr.: DDFO), in English also known as the Grand Lodge of Denmark, is a governing body of some Masonic Lodges in Denmark. The Danish Order of Freemasons was founded on 16 November 1858.The Danish Order of Freemasons has 89 Lodges all working in accordance with the rituals of the Swedish Rite and all requiring members be baptised in the Christian faith. The Danish Order of Freemasons has approximately 7,500 members.Affiliated to the Danish Order of Freemasons are two Masonic organisations, both of which have their own Lodges and do not require members be baptised in the Christian faith: The Ancient Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of Denmark (Danish: Det Danske Frimurerlaug af Gamle Frie & Antagne Murere) has approximately 1,300 members and 41 Lodges practising the rituals of the Emulation Rite, while the Saint John's Lodge Association (Danish: Johanneslogeforbundet af Gamle, Frie og Antagne Murere) has approximately 150 members and 3 Lodges practising the rituals of the Schröder Rite. Members of the Danish Order of Freemasons, the Ancient Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of Denmark, and the Saint John's Lodge Association have mutual visiting privileges. Since the Ancient Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of Denmark and the Saint John's Lodge Association only work three craft degrees, their members may be invited to join the Danish Order of Freemasons with respect to its higher degrees.The building owned by the Danish Order of Freemasons is located on Blegdamsvej in Copenhagen's Østerbro district, Denmark. The building was designed by Danish architect Holger Rasmussen and was built between 1 May 1923 and 12 October 1927. The cornerstone was laid on 3 June 1924 by Christian X of Denmark. The building has 13,515 square metres of floor space and approximately 335 rooms. It is 19.5 metres tall and has six main floors, two of which are below ground. The two columns by the main entrance are 16 metres tall and weigh 72 tons each. During the later part of the Second World War the building was occupied and was used as headquarters by the Schalburg Corps.

Freemasons' Hall (Danish: Ordenens Stamhus) located on Blegdamsvej in Copenhagen's Østerbro district, Denmark, is the headquarters of the Danish Order of Freemasons and a meeting place for the Masonic Lodges in the Copenhagen area.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is divided into five departments, where research and teaching are carried out in the fields of Economics, Political Science, International Politics, Management, Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. The faculty prepares students for the Bachelor's degree (BA), the Master's degree, and the Ph.D. in the fields of Economics, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology and Social Studies.
