Altamira station

Miranda (formerly Parque del Este) is a Caracas Metro station on Line 1. It was opened on 23 April 1988 as part of the extension of Line 1 from Chacaíto to Los Dos Caminos. The station is between Altamira and Los Dos Caminos.The station was renamed in 2008 to honor the Venezuelan national hero Francisco de Miranda.

El Parque del Este (In English: "East Park"), renamed as officially Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Park by Chávez since, in honor of the Venezuelan national hero, is a public recreation park located in the Sucre Municipality of Metropolitan Caracas in Venezuela. Opened in 1961, it is one of the most important of the city, with an area of 82 hectares (200 acres). The park was designed by Roberto Burle Marx and associates Fernando Tabora and John Stoddart.The park is located just outside the station Miranda (formerly East Park) Line 1 of the Caracas Metro. East Park is managed and supervised by the National Parks Institute (INPARQUES), an agency under the Ministry of Popular Power for the Environment. The park combines three differently designed areas: the first is an open grass field with a gentle undulating topography, the second is a densely forested landscape with meandering pathways, while the third is a series of paved gardens with tiled murals and water works.

Los Dos Caminos is a Caracas Metro station on Line 1. It was opened on 23 April 1988 as the eastern terminus of the extension of Line 1 from Chacaíto. On 10 November 1989, the line was extended further to Palo Verde. The station is between Miranda and Los Cortijos.

The Parque Cristal is an office and recreation building located on Avenida Francisco de Miranda in Caracas, Venezuela, which has become a famous landmark. It was seen as a symbol of development when it was constructed in 1977.

France Square (Plaza Francia in Spanish), also known as "Plaza Altamira", is a public space located in Altamira, east Caracas. It was built at the beginning of the 1940s and opened on August 11, 1945, with the original name of "Plaza Altamira". Its name was later changed due to an agreement between the cities of Caracas and Paris to have a Venezuela Square in Paris and a France Square in Caracas. This square was designed by town planner Luis Roche within the project of "Altamira neighborhood", a wealthy district of Chacao municipality in Miranda States. In France Square stands an obelisk — one of the landmarks of Caracas — the water mirror and a fountain that falls till the bottom of the square, which has turned into a small shopping center and the main entrance of Altamira subway station. In 2002 this square became the place where many people congregated in protest against the president at the time, Hugo Chávez, in a very big national strike known as the "Paro Petrolero".

Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies (CELARG, Fundación Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos Rómulo Gallegos), is a Venezuelan government foundation that aims to study and promote Latin American culture and Latin American integration, taking its inspiration from the life and work of prominent author and former president Rómulo Gallegos. It was established on July 30, 1974 by an international board chaired by Mexican philosopher Leopoldo Zea. Currently, the CELARG is an integral space where research, academic events, and cultural activities are presented and open to the general public. The CELARG has a high profile as a Latin American and Caribbean center for research, training, creation, cultural production, theatre, literature and public debate. The CELARG is well-known for awarding the Rómulo Gallegos Prize, which includes a cash prize of approximately €100,000, making it among the largest literary prizes in the world. The CELARG has a unique matrix-based organisational structure with a democratic and participatory form of governance.

Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base (IATA: N/A, ICAO: SVFM), commonly called by its former name of La Carlota, is located in Caracas, Venezuela. The airport is named for Francisco de Miranda, a South American revolutionary. On 27 November 1992, the airport was bombed during Hugo Chávez's attempted coup. It has been closed to public use since 2005 and is used only for military purposes and aeromedic flights (EMS). In April 2019, the airport was the starting point of the 2019 Venezuela uprising.

Banco del Libro is a non-profit organization for the promotion of children's literature, with headquarters in Caracas, Venezuela. It was established in 1960 as a centre for the exchange of textbooks – hence the name Banco del Libro (Book Bank). As it has grown it has diversified to promote reading in Venezuela, in every conceivable arena and genre of children’s literature. In 2007 Banco del Libro won the biggest prize in children's literature, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award from the Swedish Arts Council, recognising its "long-term sustainable work" as a promoter of reading. It is one of two institutions to win the award (2003 to 2012).

Altamira is a neighborhood located in the Chacao municipality of Caracas, Venezuela. It has its own Metro Station, many hotels and restaurants, and it is an important business and residential center of the city. It is also an important tourist destination and cultural center in Caracas. The Francisco de Miranda avenue (a major avenue in Caracas) and the Distibuidor Altamira (a congested highway exit) are both located in Altamira. This neighborhood borders El Ávila National Park to the north, La Castellana neighborhood to the west, Los Palos Grandes to the east, and Bello Campo neighborhood to the south. It has an estimated area of 161 hectares or approximately 1.61 square kilometers.

Los Palos Grandes is a residential, tourist and financial district located in the Chacao Municipality in east Caracas, served by the Caracas Metro through the Miranda station of line 1. It has an estimated area of 117 hectares (approximately 1.17 square kilometers). This neighborhood constitutes a touristic spot of the city thanks to its large number of restaurants, cafés and recreational places, standing out, the East Park and the Los Palos Grandes square with its reading room. This neighborhood also is part of the Financial District of Caracas, hosting several office buildings like Parque Cristal complex. This part of Caracas hosts the embassies of the United Nations, Uruguay, Ecuador and Dominican Republic. Los Palos Grandes borders El Ávila National Park to the north, Altamira neighborhood to the west, Sebucan to the east, and East Park to the south.
