College of Sciences and Engineering (University of Tasmania)

The College of Health and Medicine is a college of the University of Tasmania that incorporates the School of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, Wicking Centre and Menzies Institute for Medical Research. The College incorporates medicine, pharmacy, psychology, paramedicine, nursing, laboratory medicine, allied health sciences and rural health into its curricula and research.

The College of Arts, Law and Education was founded in 2017 as a college of the University of Tasmania that incorporated the School of Humanities, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Creative Arts (formerly the Tasmanian College of the Arts) and the Faculties of Law and Education. The College offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs. The Colleges hosts a number of institutes including the Institute for the Study of Social Change, the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute, and the Asia Institute Tasmania.

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a public research university, primarily located in Tasmania, Australia. Founded in 1890, it is Australia's fourth oldest university. Christ College, one of the university's residential colleges, first proposed in 1840 in Lieutenant-Governor Sir John Franklin's Legislative Council, was modeled on the Oxford and Cambridge colleges, and was founded in 1846, making it the oldest tertiary institution in the country. The university is a sandstone university, a member of the international Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning.The university offers various undergraduate and graduate programs in a range of disciplines, and has links with 20 specialist research institutes and co-operative research centres. Its Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies has strongly contributed to the university's multiple 5 rating scores (well above world standard) for excellence in research awarded by the Australian Research Council. The university also delivers tertiary education at the Australian Maritime College, the national centre for maritime education, training and research.

The Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA) was formerly known as Tasmania University Union (TUU), is the peak body of student representation for tertiary students attending the University of Tasmania and was established in 1899.The Student Association is a student-led collective that is dedicated to two core principles: student leadership, and the student community.

St. John Fisher College, known simply as John Fisher College and familiarly referred to as 'Fisher', is a residential college of the University of Tasmania. It was established in 1963 by then-Archbishop of Hobart Sir Guilford Young and built by the Catholic Church and its community. The building was designed by notable Tasmanian architect Rod Cooper. The college was named after 16th century scholar St John Fisher and provides accommodation for around 110 students. It is located in Upper Sandy Bay, Tasmania, Australia, on campus at the University of Tasmania.It is the smallest of the three residential colleges at the University of Tasmania in Hobart. The college was originally all-male, but became co-residential in 1980 when it amalgamated with Ena Waite College. Ena Waite was an all-female residential college staffed by the Dominican and Loreto sisters, and operated from 1968 to 1980. It was located at Currievale House at 63 Goulburn Street, West Hobart. The building was subsequently sold, and residents moved to John Fisher College. In 1999, ownership of John Fisher College was transferred from the Catholic Church to the University of Tasmania.

Christ College is the oldest tertiary institution in Australia and is a residential college of the University of Tasmania.The college is located on the University's grounds in Sandy Bay. The college, familiarly referred to as "Christ", is the largest of the three Sandy Bay residential colleges, with a residential community consisting of approximately 285 undergraduate and postgraduate residents, a significant number of whom are international students from Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Edge Radio (call sign: 7EDG) is a community radio station situated in the Australian city of Hobart. It is a youth oriented station, with most of its presenters under the age of thirty. Edge Radio focuses on local music, running a Tasmanian music show weekly. The studio is located in the University of Tasmania's Hobart campus.

Sandy Bay is a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, located immediately south of the central business district, and adjoining the suburb of Battery Point. Sandy Bay is bounded on the east by the Derwent River, and has several beaches along the shore, the main beaches with public access are Short Beach, Nutgrove Beach, Long Beach and Lords Beach. The suburb has many large homes, and is known as one of the city's prestigious areas. In the more southern areas of Sandy Bay, close to the water and also high on the slopes of Mt Nelson, are some of Tasmania's most expensive real estate. It is also the site of the Hobart campus of the University of Tasmania, and the private schools, Fahan School, The Hutchins School, and Mount Carmel College, Sandy Bay. There is considerable diversity within the suburb. The area surrounding the University of Tasmania is home to considerable student accommodation. Sandy Bay is accessible from the city via Sandy Bay Road, which runs from Davey Street in the city all the way to the Kingborough municipal boundary at Taroona where it becomes the Channel Highway. Before the construction of the Southern Outlet, the road was the primary route to and from Kingston. The higher parts of Sandy Bay are accessible via Regent Street, which bypasses the main shopping district and goes through the University to Churchill Avenue and Lower Sandy Bay. Australia's first legal casino, Wrest Point Hotel Casino, was opened in 1973 at the site of the former Wrest Point Riviera hotel.

The Hutchins School is an Anglican, day and boarding school for boys from pre-kindergarten to Year 12 in Hobart, Tasmania. Established in 1846, Hutchins is one of the oldest continually operating schools in Australia. The school's students consistently rank among the highest academic achievers in Tasmania and nationally; it has had 24 Rhodes Scholars. The school is located just under four kilometres from the CBD of Hobart, The Hutchins School offers facilities including classrooms, science and computer laboratories, libraries, a performing arts centre, a recording studio and multiple sporting grounds. International students reside in the school's boarding facility, ‘Burbury House’, which in 2012 underwent a full refit and refurbishment. Hutchins is a founding-member of the International Boys' Schools Coalition (IBSC), and a member of Independent Schools Tasmania (IST). The Hutchins School is one out of two boy's schools in Tasmania.

Dynnyrne is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Hobart in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south-west of the town of Hobart. The 2016 census recorded a population of 1577 for the state suburb of Dynnyrne.It is a suburb of Hobart, with views over the Derwent River, that is largely situated on a hill south-west of the city above the Southern Outlet, and the suburb of Sandy Bay. The suburb border stretches from the Fitzroy Gardens in the north, to the University of Tasmania apartments in the south, and up the Waterworks Valley to the west. Other nearby suburbs are South Hobart and Tolmans Hill. Dynnyrne is Tasmania's second most affluent suburb according to documents released by the Australian Taxation Office.

Queenborough Oval is the home headquarters of the Hutchins Old Boys Football Club and the South Hobart/Sandy Bay Cricket Club. The ground is a former Tasmanian Football League venue, being the former home of the Sandy Bay Football Club (now defunct) from 1945 to 1997. After the demise of Sandy Bay in 1997, Hutchins moved to the ground during the 1998 season after vacating their former home ground of 43 years (Hutchins War Memorial Oval) just up the street from Queenborough. It is located on the corner of Nelson Road and Peel Street Sandy Bay, 5 km (3.1 mi) south of the Hobart CBD.

The Derwent Sailing Squadron (DSS) is a yacht club located in Sandy Bay, Hobart, Australia, on the western shore of the River Derwent. Founded in 1906, the club is involved in a range of sailing activities and events, contributing to Tasmania's sailing community.
