Madonna Catholic Secondary School is an all-girls secondary school located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is administered by the Toronto Catholic District School Board.

The Toronto propane explosion (also known as the Sunrise Propane incident) was a series of explosions and ensuing fire that took place on the morning of August 10, 2008, in the Downsview neighbourhood of North York, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The explosions occurred at the Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases propane facility, located near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue around 03:50 ET. The blasts caused thousands of people to be evacuated from their homes and cost C$1.8 million to clean up, half of which was paid by the province of Ontario. An employee of Sunrise died in the initial explosions and a firefighter died of cardiac arrest the next day while at the scene.

The 17th World Youth Day 2002 (French: Journées mondiales de la jeunesse 2002) was a Catholic youth festival held July 23 to 28, 2002, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. World Youth Day is a celebration of faith begun by Pope John Paul II held on an international level every two to three years, and WYD2002 was the 10th such event. Although WYD is designed for Catholics, it attracts sizable numbers of youths from other faiths and denominations and was presented as a multi-faith celebration of young people from all over the world. As the event is ultimately an expression of faith, and a critical expression of faith is through service to others, World Youth Day 2002 had the support of some 25,000 volunteers; and some 100,000 pilgrims themselves spent three hours each on one of 750 service projects. The groundswell of Catholic spirituality following World Youth Day 2002 in Canada led to the establishment of Canada's first national Catholic television network, Salt + Light Television. Fr. Thomas Rosica, who was the National Director of WYD2002, is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of this new television station. For the third time (after Buenos Aires 1987 and Denver 1993) the World Youth Day was celebrated in the Americas. The Chief Executive Officer and National Director of these WYD was Father Thomas Rosica.

The George Jackson House, is a heritage farmhouse in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Located at 2950 Keele Street in the Downsview neighbourhood, it was designated as a protected heritage property on November 1, 2012.The bylaw referenced above reads in part "The George Jackson House has design or physical value as a representative example of a late 19th-century farmhouse. The design blends elements from the Queen Anne Revival and Richardsonian Romanesque styles popularized in the late 1800s." It is one of only four buildings in the Downsview neighbourhood that is listed in the Toronto inventory of heritage properties.It is currently rented out as office space.

Bombardier Aerospace Emergency Services (Toronto) is responsible for fire and emergency services at Bombardier Aerospace's assembly and testing facility at Downsview Airport.

On 16 June 2012, the stage collapsed during the setup for a concert by the English rock band Radiohead in Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada. Drum technician Scott Johnson was killed and three other members of Radiohead's road crew were injured. Radiohead and other recording artists offered tributes and condolences. In June 2013, Live Nation Canada Inc, two other organisations and an engineer were charged with 13 charges under Ontario health and safety laws. The hearing began in June 2015, but a mistrial was declared after the judge was appointed to Ontario Superior Court and lost jurisdiction. The case was dropped in September 2017 under the Jordan ruling, which puts time limits on cases. Radiohead condemned the decision. In 2019, a Canadian inquest found that the roof had not been strong enough to support the stage equipment and returned a verdict of accidental death. A British inquest held later that year found that inadequate technical advice and construction techniques had caused Johnson's death.

The Conseil scolaire Viamonde (CSV) is a public-secular French first language school board, and manages elementary and secondary schools in the Ontario Peninsula and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The school board operates 41 elementary schools and 15 secondary schools within that area. The school board operates two offices, one in Toronto, and one in Welland. The educational management office is located in the Maple Leaf neighbourhood of Toronto, whereas the business and financial management office is located in Welland.The school board was formed in 1998 after several local school boards were amalgamated into the French-language Public District School Board No. 58. From 1999 to 2010, the school board was known as Conseil Scolaire de District du Centre-Sud-Ouest. CSV is one of four members of the Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l'Ontario (ACÉPO).

Toronto FC Academy, also known as TFC Academy, is the youth academy and development system of Canadian Major League Soccer club Toronto FC. The academy has divisions from U14 to U19 and includes over 110 young players. The senior academy team is known as Toronto FC III.

Downsview Park is a large urban park located in the Downsview neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The park's name is officially bilingual due to it being federally owned and managed, and was first home to de Havilland Canada, an aircraft manufacturer, and later was a Canadian Forces base. The park still contains Downsview Airport. In 1999, the Government of Canada declared it as "Canada's first urban national park." However, unlike the Rouge National Urban Park in eastern Toronto, Downsview Park is managed by the federal Crown corporation Canada Lands Company rather than Parks Canada. As of 2017, little development has taken place, and the park remains mostly untouched.

Downsview Airport (ICAO: CYZD) is an airport located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. An air field, then air force base, it has been a testing facility for Bombardier Aerospace from 1994. Bombardier has sold the facility to a development company who plans to redevelop the land in the coming years into commercial and residential properties.Downsview Airport had its own fire service (Bombardier Aerospace Emergency Services) which covers airport operations (using two airport fire rescue vehicles) and plant operations (using two SUV emergency vehicles). Bombardier Emergency Services employees were cross-trained as firefighters, first responders and airport security.
