The Church of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 1253 Shakespeare Avenue (West 168 Street), Bronx, New York City 10452. The church building was designed by architect Elliott Lynch, who designed several other Catholic churches and parish schools. The church is connected with a school of the same name.

Public School 11, also known as Highbridge School, is a historic school located in The Bronx, New York City. It is a part of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). Located in the Highbridge neighborhood, it is a brick and stone building in the Romanesque Revival style. It has three sections: a three-story northern section with tower and rear extension built in 1889; a six bay, three story wing built in 1905; and a gymnasium / auditorium built in 1930. The oldest section features a mansard roof. The interior of the auditorium has a mural added in 1937 as part of a Works Progress Administration arts project.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It was designated a New York City Landmark in 1981.

The "Joker Stairs" is the colloquial name for a step street connecting Shakespeare and Anderson avenues at West 167th Street in Highbridge in the Bronx, New York City. Located near the 167th Street station on the New York City Subway's 4 train, the stairs served as one of the filming locations in the 2019 film Joker. In the film, the character Arthur Fleck, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is repeatedly shown walking up and down these stairs as part of his daily routine. Later, towards the film's climax, he dances down the stairs wearing a brightly-colored suit and clown makeup, which represent a change in his character, as Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part 2" plays in the background. The stairs appear in a promotional poster for the film and have become a tourist destination. Both the stairs and Arthur's dance have become Internet memes.Many visitors reenact the scene from the film, sometimes in Joker attire, to the point that the stairs have become crowded with sightseers. Bronx residents complained that tourists caused crowding during their commutes while snapping pictures and wielding selfie sticks. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district (which covers portions of the Bronx), asked visitors to stay away from the Joker Stairs to avoid causing problems for residents.India Today notes, "Even though the stairs have been around for years and lead to some of the most famous spots in New York [...] they were never really popular because of their association with crime in the area." The New York Times notes that originally, the stairs used in the 2007 biographical crime film American Gangster, located in a South Bronx neighborhood, were going to be used in the scene, but they had been repaved and beautified too much to be aesthetically acceptable for Joker.NBC New York notes that the Joker Stairs have joined "the ranks of well-known movie settings, like that of the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art" seen in the 1976 American sports drama Rocky. In 2019, Burger King released a promotional video featuring the Joker Stairs, with a title card saying "We know clowns can be annoying", an innuendo directed at McDonald's.

Disco Fever was a New York City dance club located in the South Bronx on Jerome Avenue and 167th street that operated from 1976 to 1986. After initially failing to draw very many customers, Sal Abbatiello convinced his father, the owner, to hand over the reins. Abbatiello quickly began featuring hip hop artists including a young Grandmaster Flash, and the club greatly increased in popularity and fame. Hip hop group Run-D.M.C. performed their first show at the club.

Highbridge is a residential neighborhood geographically located in the central-west section of the Bronx, New York City. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are the Cross-Bronx Expressway to the north, Jerome Avenue to the east, Macombs Dam Bridge to the south, and the Harlem River to the west. The area is patrolled by the New York City Police Department's 44th Precinct. NYCHA property in the area is patrolled by P.S.A. 7 at 737 Melrose Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Radio station 2XG, also known as the "Highbridge Station", was an experimental radio station located in New York City and licensed to the De Forest Radio Telephone and Telegraph Company from 1915–1917 and 1920–1924. In 1916, it became the first radio station employing a vacuum-tube transmitter to make news and entertainment broadcasts on a regular schedule, and, on November 7, 1916, became the first to broadcast U.S. presidential election returns by spoken word instead of by Morse code.

The 167th Street station is a local station on the IRT Jerome Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 167th Street and River Avenue in the Bronx, it is served by the 4 train at all times. This station was constructed by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company as part of the Dual Contracts and opened in 1917.

Morrisania Hospital was a four-structure full service hospital with an 11-story main building that was built in 1926 and closed in 1976.

The High Bridge (originally the Aqueduct Bridge) is the oldest bridge in New York City, having originally opened as part of the Croton Aqueduct in 1848 and reopened as a pedestrian walkway in 2015 after being closed for over 45 years. A steel arch bridge with a height of 140 ft (43 m) over the Harlem River, it connects the New York City boroughs of the Bronx and Manhattan. The eastern end is located in the Highbridge section of the Bronx near the western end of West 170th Street, and the western end is located in Highbridge Park in Manhattan, roughly parallel to the end of West 174th Street.High Bridge was originally completed in 1848 with 16 individual stone arches. In 1928, the five that spanned the Harlem River were replaced by a single 450-foot (140 m) steel arch. The bridge was closed to all traffic from the 1970s until its restoration, which began in 2009. The bridge was reopened to pedestrians and bicycles on June 9, 2015. The bridge is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

Taqwa Community Farm is a half-acre park operated as a community garden in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City.

The Park Plaza Apartments were one of the first and most prominent art deco apartment buildings erected in the Bronx in New York City. The eight-story, polychromatic terra cotta embellished structure at 1005 Jerome Avenue and West 164th Street was designed by Horace Ginsberg and Marvin Fine and completed in 1931. It is an eight-story building divided into five blocks or section, each six bays wide. There are about 200 apartments, ranging from one to five rooms.Officially designated a New York City Landmark in 1981, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, it faced the lushly treed landscape of Macombs Dam Park until 2006, when the 28-acre (110,000 m2) park was condemned for a new Yankee Stadium.

The Andrew Freedman Home is a historic building constructed for Andrew Freedman that has been renovated into an artists' hub consisting of an interdisciplinary artist residency, an incubator space, workforce development and community services. It is a New York City Designated Landmark. The money to build it was bequeathed by Freedman. Located at 1125 Grand Concourse in Concourse, Bronx, New York City, the Andrew Freedman Home was designed as a retirement home for wealthy individuals who had lost their fortunes. The trust that operated the Andrew Freedman Home ran out of money in the 1960s. The home was reopened in 1983 for all elderly individuals, regardless of past financial status. As of 2012, the Andrew Freedman Home serves as a day-care center and event space.
