Killannin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The club is one of 18 teams competing in the Senior Championship in Galway. Their best result in the competition came in 2000, where they reached the final, losing out narrowly to Corofin.

Ross railway station was on the Midland Great Western Railway (MGWR) Clifden branch line from Galway. It served the Martin family and the people of the wider Rosscahill area.

Moycullen GAA (Irish: CLG Maigh Cuilinn) is a group title for several Gaelic Athletic Association clubs based in Moycullen, County Galway. The three clubs, Cumann Peile Mhaigh Cuilinn (Moycullen Football Club), Cumann Iománaíocht Maigh Cuilinn (Moycullen Hurling Club) and Cumann Camógaíocht Mhaigh Cuilinn (Moycullen Camogie Club) share playing facilities and cooperate on a number of the local community and sporting issues. The clubs are members of the Galway GAA. There are two other clubs in the parish with indirect GAA affiliations, Moycullen Ladies Football Club and Moycullen Handball Club, who also share the club facilities. The club facilities are situated in the townland of Baile Dóite and include two full-size pitches, a 25 square metre all-weather pitch, a 20-metre double-sided practice wall, a 200 capacity covered stand, player changing facilities and some small meeting rooms. The site also includes a stand-alone indoor handball complex. There is also considerable capacity for car parking. The history of the GAA in Moycullen goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was first organised within the parish by 1912.

Lough Corrib ( lokh KORR-ib; Irish: Loch Coirib) is a lake in the west of Ireland. The River Corrib or Galway River connects the lake to the sea at Galway. It is the largest lake within the Republic of Ireland and the second largest on the island of Ireland (after Lough Neagh). It covers 176 km² and lies mostly in County Galway with a small area of its northeast corner in County Mayo. The first canal on the island of Ireland was cut in the 12th century. Known as the Friar's Cut, it allowed boats to pass from Lough Corrib to the sea at Galway.Lough Corrib was designated a Ramsar site on 16 June 1996. It has also been designated a Special Area of Conservation.

Moycullen (Irish: Maigh Cuilinn) is a Gaeltacht village in County Galway, Ireland, about 10 km (7 mi) northwest of Galway city. It is near Lough Corrib, on the N59 road to Oughterard and Clifden, in Connemara. Moycullen is now a satellite town of Galway with some residents commuting to the city for work, school, and business. Population increased 33.7% from the 2016 census, reaching 2,279 in 2022.Although Moycullen and its hinterland are classified as a ‘Gaeltacht’ area, the language has not been the local vernacular for many years. Moycullen falls under a Category C Gaeltacht Area due to its low percentage of daily Irish speakers.

Moycullen railway station was on the Midland Great Western Railway (MGWR) Galway to Clifden railway.

Knockferry (Irish: Caladh an Chnoic) is a townland in County Galway, on the shores (at the narrowest part) of Lough Corrib. The number of occupied dwellings is 20 (including Burnthouse) and for census purposes it is incorporated within the 'census town' of Rosscahill, Wormhole with a total population of 295 in 2011.

Aughnanure Castle (Caisleán Achadh na nlubhar in Irish) is a tower house in Oughterard, County Galway, Ireland. It is situated in the west of Ireland. It was built by the O' Flaherty's in the 16th century.

Moycullen (Irish: Maigh Cuilinn) is a Gaeltacht civil parish in the ancient barony of the same name. It is located in the western shore of Lough Corrib in County Galway, Ireland and is around 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of the city of Galway on the road to Oughterard. The parish contains 27,294 statute acres. According to Lewis's survey of 1837, "The land is of very indifferent quality; and there is a large quantity of reclaimable waste and bog.". The parish gets its name from the church, now in ruins, that is situated around 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east of the village, in the townland of Moycullen itself.Settlements in the parish include the eponymous village of the same name and the village of Spiddal.

Killagoola (Cill Ogúla) is a small townland lying in the civil parish of Moycullen in County Galway, Ireland. It is located about 8 miles from Galway city, just off the N59 road which travels north from Galway towards Clifden. Its name is derived from the Irish name of Cill Ogúla, which means Church on the Shoulder (of a hill). Indeed there is the ruins of a small church within the boundaries of Killagoola, on the largest site in the area, Crú Hill. Until the first half of the 20th century, Gaelic was the language used in the area, but this was lost in the latter half, with a change to English. Killagoola has locally derived place-names such as Mountview, Sruthan, Sceith and Baile Thiar to distinguish areas of the townland. Lough Kip river runs from the lake, Lough Kip, through the townland towards Ballyquirke Lake, a feeder for the much bigger lake, the Corrib. Most of the land in the area is used as farmland, reclaimed from boggy or mountainous areas. Some of the families living in the area have lived there for generations and their names can be viewed on land deeds from the 19th century. After a drop in the townland population from the 1960s to the 1980s, an influx of people in the 1990s, due to its proximity to Galway city, has bolstered the small population.
