The 1976 Eisenhower Trophy took place 13 to 16 October at the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. It was the tenth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 38 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Great Britain and Ireland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the second time, finishing two strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Japan, who had also been runners-up in 1974. Australia took the bronze medal, three strokes further behind, while team Republic of China finished fourth. Chen Tze-ming from Republic of China and Ian Hutcheon, representing Great Britain and Ireland, had the lowest individual scores, one-over-par 293.

Portimão Airport (IATA: PRM, ICAO: LPPM) is a small airport in Montes de Alvor, near the city of Portimão in Algarve, Portugal. The airport has one single short asphalt runway in the 11/29 direction and is mainly used by general aviation, with parachuting being common from the airfield.The local mayor of Portimão, Ilse Gomes, revealed plans to expand the aerodrome and have it become a landing spot for the nearby Algarve International Circuit (AIA). During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the airport, on August 27, 2021, she said that "the aerodrome should become even bigger and more operational in order to respond more effectively to its needs and create a link with the AIA". Many of the racetrack's visitors arrive in the region in their private jets at Faro Airport when they could be flying directly to the aerodrome in Portimão, which is just a few kilometres away from the racetrack. The municipal council will therefor soon take over an adjacent plot of agricultural land, enabling the needed extension of the runway.

Portimão station (Portuguese: Estação de Portimão) is the main railway station in the city of Portimão, Portugal, operated by Comboios de Portugal. It opened on 30 July 1922.

The Torre River (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈtoʁɨ]) is a small river in the south west Algarve, Portugal. The rivers headwater sources are a number of small streams and brooks rising from springs across the Serra de Monchique. The river runs for around 11.0 kilometres (6.8 mi) from these sources southwards towards the town of Portimão where it discharges into the Alvor Estuary close to the coastal village of Alvor.

Estádio Municipal de Portimão is the current stadium of Portimonense S.C. It is located in the centre of Portimão in the Algarve, Portugal and was opened in 1937 for local football club Portimonense S.C. Its capacity is 9,544 people. It hosted Portimonense's stay in the Primeira Liga in the 1980s. In 2006, Portimonense were forced to play away from the Estádio Municipal in the Estádio Algarve, which – built for Euro 2004 – is 70 kilometres from Portimão. In February 2007, however, Portimonense returned home and the Portimão Municipality purchased the site five months later. This allowed the renovations required for the hosting of higher level competition: the installation of green seats (in the colours of the city), new turnstiles and security facilities. In the 2009–10 season, Portimonense won promotion to the Primeira Liga for the following season. The summer of 2010 was a time of further renovation of the stadium, as modifications were made to the pitch and drainage system, as well as the west stand, bringing the capacity to 9,544 at the cost of €800,000. The construction took longer than expected and the club had to wait until the turn of the year before they could use their stadium again. The club's first home league match in the renovated stadium was on 6 February 2011 against Paços de Ferreira, who emerged victorious with the only goal of the game.

Portimão (Portuguese pronunciation: [puɾtiˈmɐ̃w] ) is a city and a municipality in the district of Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 55,614, in an area of 182.06 km2. It was formerly known as Vila Nova de Portimão (IPA: [ˈvilɐ ˈnɔvɐ ðɨ puɾtiˈmɐ̃w]). In 1924, it was incorporated as a cidade and became known merely as Portimão. Historically a fishing and shipbuilding centre, it has nonetheless developed into a strong tourist centre oriented along its beaches and southern coast. The two largest population centers in the Algarve are Portimão and Faro.

Figueira is a closed halt on the Algarve line in the Portimão municipality, Portugal. It was opened on the 1st of November 1954, having been designed for the CP Class 0100 railbuses.

Figueira (Portuguese pronunciation: [fiˈɡɐjɾɐ]) is a village near Portimão in the Algarve in Portugal. In the English-speaking world its main claim to fame is the disappearance there, on 12 September 2004, of a local girl, eight-year-old Joana Cipriano, and the subsequent conviction of her mother and uncle for murder.

Alto Golf and Country Club is a golf and country club resort complex located in Portugal’s Western Algarve. The resort contains landscaped gardens with villas, apartments and townhouses, which offer views of the sea, the golf course or the gardens. The resort's 18 hole, par 72 golf course, was the last to be designed by the legendary English golfer, Sir Henry Cotton. The course, which measures 6125 metres from the back tees, spans across two gently sloping valleys and has winding fairways and elevated greens. The opening nine holes overlook the bay of Lagos, while the back nine is set on rolling slopes. The golf course no longer forms part of Alto Golf & Country Club, being now owned and managed by the Pestana Group.

Alvor is a civil parish (Portuguese: freguesia) in the municipality of Portimão, in the southern Algarve of Portugal. The population in 2011 was 6,154, in an area of 15.25 km².
