Mīlgrāvis is a neighbourhood of Northern District in Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is located on the western shore of Lake Ķīšezers.

Daugavgrīva White Church (Latvian: Daugavgrīvas Baltā baznīca) is a Lutheran church in the Vecmīlgrāvis district of Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is a parish church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia. The church is situated at the address 50 Baltāsbaznīcas iela.

Riga Shipyard (Latvian: Rīgas kuģu būvētava) is a Latvian shipyard as well as one of the largest shipyards in the Baltic region. The shipyard has 9 berths, 3 docks and 2 slipways on the banks of Daugava river channels. The yard is capable to accommodate Panamax size vessels for dry-docking and Aframax size vessels for afloat repairs. Riga Shipyard has repaired more than 100 seagoing vessels per year and has built more than 150 hulls, some partially outfitted, since 1997. Established in 1913, the enterprise was torn by both world wars, which was revived both times. Riga shipyard was privatized in 1995. According to press, in 2013 suffered €1.6 mln losses in 2013 and €1.5 mln in 2014, almost going bankrupt in 2014. In 2020 Latvia's Financial and Capital Markets Commission (FKTK) fined the shipyard for violation of the Financial Instruments Market Law. According to the FKTK, the shipyard didn't provide audited financial statements for 2018 and interim financial statements for the first nine months of 2019. The shipyard was ordered to immediately provide all the necessary documents.

The Battle of Daugavgrīva took place on October 6, 1609 during the Polish–Swedish War (1600–1611).

Daugavgrīva Abbey or Dünamünde Abbey (Latvian: Daugavgrīvas klosteris; German: Kloster Dünamünde; Latin: Mons S. Nicolai) was a Cistercian monastery in Daugavgrīva (German: Dünamünde) in Latvia, about 12 kilometres from Riga, of which Daugavgrīva has formed a district since 1959. The site was re-developed from 1305 as Daugavgrīva Castle.

The Capture of Daugavgriva by Swedish forces in July 1608 occurred during the Polish–Swedish War (1600–1611). Daugavgrīva castle (Polish: Dynemund, Swedish: Dünamünde) was the first objective of the Swedish forces during the campaign of 1608, due to its location near Riga (Daugavgrīva is Riga suburb today), and the fact that it could be used to block that city from the sea. When the Swedes, numbering 8000 troops and led by Joachim Frederick von Mansfeld, approached the fortress at Daugavgrīva, the Polish commander of the 130 strong garrison (with 40 cannons), Franciszek Białłozor, lacking in supplies and little hope of relief, decided to surrender. Swedes captured Daugavgriva on 5 August 1608.The Poles would not be able to recapture the fortress until more than a year later at the Battle of Daugavgriva (1609).

Daugavgrīva Castle (German: Dünamünde; Polish: Dynemunt; Russian: Усть-Двинск or Ust`-Dvinsk) is a former monastery converted into a castle, located at Vecdaugava oxbow on right bank of Daugava, in the northern part of Riga city, Latvia. Nowadays here are seen only earthen ramparts.
