Morgan Creek Vineyards is a winery in Harpersville, Alabama, United States. Regionally well-known, it is one of eleven wineries in the state. Founded in 2000 on an initial 30 acres (12 ha), it began with a production of 600 cases (7200 bottles), that sold in 6 stores. In 2009, the winery produced 15,000 cases, selling in 400 stores across Alabama and Mississippi, and expanded its acreage by 85 acres (34 ha). It is run by Brammer family.Morgan Creek produces "Southern wines such as muscadine, blueberry and apple," and a red wine called "Vulcan Red," named for the Vulcan statue in nearby Birmingham. Its wine was included on the list of "100 Things to Eat in Alabama Before You Die."As a member of the Alabama Wineries and Grape Growers Association, Morgan Creek has been actively involved in efforts to relax some restrictions on wineries in Alabama, to better conform with laws in the rest of the United States. In 2010, it favored the passage of Alabama House Bill 637 and Alabama Senate Bill 556, collectively known as the Alabama Small Winery Business Viability Act, in the Alabama legislature. The act, if passed, would require Alabama wineries to conform with Federal winery laws, define what a small winery is, and address business issues related to wineries.

Harpersville is a town in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. According to the 1950 U.S. Census, it formally incorporated in 1943. At the 2020 census the population was 1,614, compared to 1,637 in 2010 and 1,620 in 2000. It is located southeast of the Birmingham metro area.

Arkwright was an unincorporated community in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. The community lies near the banks of the Coosa River and is now within the city limits of Vincent. Arkwright was founded in 1907 and was named for Preston Stanley Arkwright, who served as founder and president of Georgia Railway and Power Company and as an official with the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railway. At one point, the community was home to a railroad station, post office, bank, cotton gin, gristmill, general store, furniture store, and school. The post office was in operation from 1909 to 1926. In 1924, the railroad company raised the railroad bed, eliminating the need for a depot. The population soon began to decline and the post office was closed shortly afterwards. The Arkwright Baptist Church and Arkwright Heritage Area, which includes multiple structures and cemeteries, were added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 2011.

The Old Rock House is a historic house in Harpersville, Alabama. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 29, 2006. It is located 1 mile southeast of Harpersville at the end of a farm lane on the northern side of U.S. Route 280. The house is built of local grey granite and limestone. The house was previously listed on the Historic American Buildings Survey. The Old Rock House is the only surviving example of an early stone dwelling in Alabama.

Wilsonville is a town in southeastern Shelby County, Alabama, United States, located northeast of Columbiana. At the 2020 census, the population was 1,857. Wilsonville is named after the earliest settler in the area, Elisha Wilson.The town was incorporated in 1897. 3 years later in 1900, it had the distinction of being the largest community in Shelby County with 1,095, edging out the county seat of Columbiana by 20 people. It lost the distinction to Columbiana in 1910 and would not exceed its 1900 population again until 1990.

Fourmile, also known as Redlawn, is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. Fourmile is located 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Columbiana and 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Wilsonville. Some of the early settlers of Fourmile came from Lexington County and Newberry County, South Carolina. Fourmile Baptist Church was founded on August 25, 1824, (under the name of Bethesda Baptist Church) and is the oldest continuously functioning church in the Shelby Baptist Association. The Shelby Baptist Association was founded at Bethesda Baptist Church in 1852. It is also one of the oldest existing churches of the Alabama Baptist Convention. One of the prominent early members of the church was John W. Teague, who was an early settler of Columbiana and the father of Eldred B. Teague. E. B. Teague lived on a farm in Fourmile, which he named Red Lawn. Fourmile was also the location of Blue Springs Methodist Church, which was founded in 1890. The church closed in 2004. A post office was established under the name Redlawn in 1898, at the residence of Pickens Miner, who served as the first postmaster. The post office was in operation until 1904. One site in Fourmile, Jackson's Fourmile Farm, is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.

It is a part of the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area, approximately 15 miles (24 km) southeast of downtown Birmingham.

Chelsea is a city in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. Chelsea was incorporated on March 1, 1996, with a population of 906. At the 2020 census, the population was 14,982. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the 2010 population for Chelsea was 10,183 and 14,126 in 2019. Chelsea is widely considered the fastest growing city in Shelby County, which is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state.
