Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island

Brudenell ( BROO-də-nel) was a municipality that held community status in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was located along the Brudenell and Montague rivers. Brudenell Point, located at the confluence of the two rivers, was the site of the Jean Pierre Roma Acadian settlement in the 18th century, the first here by French colonists.. This small portion of Brudenell is now a National Historic Site of Canada called Roma Three Rivers. This French settlement built several significant roads on the island (which they called Isle St. Jean). These are still used today. After taking control of this territory from the French after the Seven Years' War, the English burned the settlement to the ground. Later that same piece of land was resettled, mostly by ethnic British. In 1829 Andrew Archibald Macdonald was born here, later considered the "Father of Confederation" in Canada.On September 28, 2018, Brudenell was merged with six other municipalities to form the town of Three Rivers.

Poole's Corner Provincial Park is a provincial park in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located southeast of Cardigan and northeast of Montague.

The Three Rivers are the three tidal estuaries in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. The water bodies are the Brudenell, Cardigan and Montague rivers, which in 2004 were included on the list of outstanding Canadian Heritage Rivers. The rivers are navigable by canoe for 52 kilometres (32 mi).There are several communities situated on the river system including Montague, Cardigan and Georgetown. The Brudenell River Provincial Park is situated on the Brudenell.

Brudenell River is the largest provincial park in eastern Prince Edward Island. Some of its land is used by Rodd Brudenell Resort. It has two public 18-hole golf courses, Brudenell River Golf Course and Dundarave Golf Course.

Cardigan (2016 pop.: 269) was a municipality that held community status in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was a fishing community in eastern Kings County. The community was named by Welsh farmers, later it was thought to be named after James Brudenell, 5th Earl of Cardigan, later Duke of Montague. Situated on the Cardigan River and originally named Cardigan Bridge, the community started and grew as a result of the shipbuilding industry and lumber trade. Today the community's primary industry is manufacturing, followed by fishing, most notably lobster, mussels and clams. The community is also home to Canada's smallest library.On September 28, 2018, it was combined with six other municipalities to create the town of Three Rivers.

Montague is a community within the Town of Three Rivers in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Previously incorporated as a town, it amalgamated with the Town of Georgetown, the rural municipalities of Brudenell, Cardigan, Lorne Valley, Lower Montague, and Valleyfield, and portions of three adjacent unincorporated areas in 2018. Montague is the largest population centre in the county and straddles the Montague River which is the dividing line between the townships of Lot 52 and Lot 59. The community functions as a regional service centre for the eastern end of the province, supporting two supermarkets, three hardware stores, a number of independent businesses, and several fast food restaurants, banks, and car dealerships.

Montague Regional High School (MRHS), is a Canadian secondary school in Montague, Prince Edward Island for students from the southern part of Kings County and the south eastern part of Queens County, including the towns of Montague and Georgetown. The school is administratively part of the Public Schools Branch. Its official colours are red and black and the mascot is a Viking. The sports teams from MRHS are called the Montague Vikings.

Lot 53 is a township in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is part of St. George's Parish. Lot 53 was awarded to merchant John Williams, Lieutenant George Campbell, and doctor Richard Huck in the 1767 land lottery. By 1806 the western third was owned by the Earl of Selkirk.

Lot 59 is a township in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is part of St. Andrew's Parish. Lot 59 was awarded to merchants Hutchison Mure, Robert Cathcart, and David Higgins in the 1767 land lottery.

Lower Montague was a municipality that held community status in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was located to the east of Montague. The Community of Lower Montague was incorporated in 1974. The first inhabitants of the Island and the area later called Lower Montague were the First Nations Mi’kmag people who came to the Island seasonally and established summer camps. They called the island Abegweit or "resting on the wave". They mostly harvested the richness of forest, field and sea. An Indian burial site reportedly exists along the waters edge and the intersection with the Thornton Road. Lower Montague formed the major part of Lot 59 which has a population of 1285 (2006 Census). On September 28, 2018, it was merged with six other municipalities to create the town of Three Rivers.
