Manville is a borough in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The borough is located in the heart of the Raritan Valley region and is a part of the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 10,953, an increase of 609 (+5.9%) from the 2010 census count of 10,344, which in turn reflected an increase of one person from the 10,343 counted in the 2000 census. Manville was named after the Johns-Manville Corporation, which maintained a large manufacturing facility in the borough for decades. Historically, many of Manville's residents are of Slavic—mostly eastern Polish (23.1% of the borough's population in 2000) and western Ukrainian descent—with many businesses and restaurants geared towards the Polish American community located along Main Street (County Route 533). Manville was formed by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 1, 1929, subject to the results of a referendum held on April 18, 1929.

The Manville School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Manville in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2019–20 school year, the district, comprised of four schools, had an enrollment of 1,601 students and 132.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.1:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "CD", the sixth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups categorize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.

Manville High School is a four-year comprehensive community public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Manville in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Manville School District. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 472 students and 42.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.0:1. There were 137 students (29.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 46 (9.7% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Royce Brook (sometimes referred to as Royces Brook, Royces Branch, or Royce Brook River) is a tributary of the Millstone River in Hillsborough and Manville, New Jersey in the United States.

The Van Nest – Weston Burying Ground is in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey on the border with Manville, New Jersey. It is also referred to as the Van Nest Burying Ground and the Frelinghuysen Burying Ground. The cemetery is located on Millstone River Road (County Route 533) and the corner of Schmidt Street. It resides on the edge of Central Jersey Regional Airport. On the opposite side of the Millstone River and slightly north is the Davis Burial Ground in Zarephath, New Jersey. It has a similar brick wall surrounding the cemetery and dates from the same era. Van Nest – Weston Burying Ground was surveyed in 1912 by E. Gertrude Nevius of East Millstone and was published in the Somerset County Historical Quarterly. Between 1912 and 2008 there are 42 identifiable burials.

The Federal Creosote Superfund site is a 50-acre (20 ha) property located in Manville, New Jersey. It was used as a wood treatment facility. Starting in 1919, the site was contaminated with creosote. Creosotes are a category of carbonaceous chemicals formed by the distillation of various tars and by pyrolysis of plant-derived material, such as wood or fossil fuel. They are typically used as preservatives or antiseptics. It took the EPA about 18 years to cleanup the site.

Central Jersey Regional Airport (IATA: JVI, FAA LID: 47N) is a privately owned, public use airport in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. The airport is one nautical mile (2 km) south of the central business district of Manville. It is located in Hillsborough Township and was formerly known as Kupper Airport. This facility is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation reliever airport.On the airport property is the Van Nest – Weston Burying Ground, a small cemetery. The airport was originally owned by Charles Kupper who was a real estate investor and managed by Manville Aviation. One of the notable features of the airport is stiff crosswinds from the northwest, making landing challenging at times. The airport originally sold 80LL and 100LL aviation fuel. During the late 1960s into the early 1970s, a short 2,000 foot unimproved or grass runway was constructed running perpendicular to the paved runway starting approximately 100' NE of the beginning of runway 7, extending southeast.

Pillar College (formerly Somerset Christian College) is a private evangelical Christian college with the main campus in Newark, New Jersey and educational locations in Somerset, Paterson, Plainfield, and Jersey City. Pillar College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Port Reading Junction is a major rail junction (MANS) in Manville, New Jersey serving rail freight travelling between the Port of New York and New Jersey in Gateway Region of western New Jersey and points to the south and west. It is the site of Manville Yard.

Zarephath (, ZARRA-fath) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) and located in Franklin Township, in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, about 15 mi (24 km) north of Princeton. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 69, an increase of 32 (+86.5%) from the 37 enumerated at the 2010 census.It was the communal home of the Pillar of Fire Church, and was the worldwide headquarters of Pillar of Fire International, which comprises the church's college, Somerset Christian College, and radio station WAWZ-FM (the farm and publishing facilities have not been in operation since the late 1970s). It is named after Zarephath, the place in the Bible where the "widow woman" sustained the prophet Elijah. Zarephath was a group of buildings located between the Delaware and Raritan Canal and the Millstone River. Following the flooding in 2011 from Hurricane Irene, the College and all Pillar of Fire ministries were ordered to move out of this floodplain. The original campus has been slated for demolition and a new campus in Somerset was established.

Finderne or Manville–Finderne was a New Jersey Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, in the Finderne section of Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. Located along Finderne Avenue (Somerset County Route 533), the station contained only one platform and old station tracks. The station, which once housed a small building between the tracks, had been without facilities for some time prior to its closure. The last train to serve Finderne was the 4:18 p.m. train to Newark Penn Station on October 27, 2006. In its last years the station had only three trains stopping on weekdays (one morning train from Newark Penn Station and two afternoon trains to Newark Penn Station) and none on weekends.

Somerset County is a county located in the north-central part of the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 census, the county was the state's 13th-most-populous county, with a population of 345,361, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 21,917 (+6.8%) from the 2010 census count of 323,444. Somerset County constitutes part of the New York metropolitan area. Its county seat is Somerville. The most populous place in the county was Franklin Township, with 68,364 residents at the time of the 2020 census, while Hillsborough Township, with 55.00 square miles (142.4 km2), covered the largest total area of any municipality. The county is part of the Central Jersey region of the state. In 2015, Somerset County had a per capita personal income of $86,468, the second highest in New Jersey and ranked 25th of 3,113 counties in the United States. Somerset County, as of the 2000 Census, was the seventh wealthiest county in the United States by median household income at $76,933 (third in New Jersey behind Hunterdon County at $79,888 and Morris County at $77,340), fourth in median family income at $90,655 (second in New Jersey behind Hunterdon County at $91,050) and ranked seventh by per capita income at $37,970 (highest in New Jersey). The Bureau of Economic Analysis ranked the county as having the 11th-highest per capita income of all 3,113 counties in the United States (and the highest in New Jersey) as of 2009.In 2012, 49.8 percent of Somerset County residents were college graduates, the highest percentage in the state. Somerset County was recently ranked number 3 of 21 NJ counties as one of the healthiest counties in New Jersey, according to an annual report by County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. Somerset County was created on May 14, 1688, from portions of Middlesex County.
