York River (Ontario)

Canoe Lake is a lake in the Township of Madawaska Valley in Combermere, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. It is 600 metres (1,969 ft) long and 300 metres (984 ft) wide, and the primary outflow is an unnamed creek to Negeek Lake on the Madawaska River. There is a second Canoe Lake in Renfrew County that is also part of the Madawaska system, Canoe Lake (Greater Madawaska), on the Highland Creek tributary further downstream.

The Conroy Marsh is a provincially significant wetland in Renfrew County, Ontario. Covering an area of 2,400 hectares, it was designated as a conservation reserve in 2003. It is also known as Conroy's Marsh or Conroys Marsh. Located at the junction of the Madawaska, York and Little Mississippi Rivers south of the village of Combermere, it was named after Robert Conroy, an Ottawa Valley lumber baron who held timber harvesting rights in the area. The wetland includes sections of marsh, fen and swamp. Plants found here include wild rice and wild cranberries. Animals include bald eagles, ospreys, river otters and various ducks including ring-necked ducks. Part of the wetland has been designated as a Crown Game Preserve. Conroy Marsh was also the subject of a painting by Group of Seven member A. J. Casson.

Combermere is a village along the Madawaska River in south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Township of Madawaska Valley. It is named after Sir Stapleton Cotton, Viscount Combermere (1773–1865). Combermere is best known as home to the Madonna House Apostolate, but the village provides access to numerous lakes and rivers for cottagers and tourists who visit the area. It is home to the Sinking of the Mayflower Steamship lookout, which gives tourists an overlooking view of the lake, where the Mayflower sank on the night of November 12, 1912.

Craigmont is a dispersed rural community, unincorporated place, and ghost town in Carlow/Mayo, Hastings County in Central Ontario, Canada. It lies adjacent to the municipal boundary with Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan in Renfrew County. It was a former mining town that produced corundum from deposits in Mount Robillard, directly north of the community. In 1876, the mountain was discovered as a source for corundum. In 1900, mining operations began by the Canada Corundum Company. A settlement, consisting of both a company town and a private town, grew to a peak population of 600 persons, making it the world's largest Corundum producer at that time. But in 1913, a fire destroyed the mill, resulting in job loss and a gradual decline. By 1921, Craigmont was a ghost town. A small community remains along County Road 517 (the former Ontario Highway 517), with some of the original buildings and ruins on private property.

Combermere/Kamaniskeg Lake Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CNP5) is a seaplane base located 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 km; 2.9 mi) west northwest of Combermere, Ontario, Canada.

Kamaniskeg Lake is a lake in the municipalities of Hastings Highlands, Hastings County, and Madawaska Valley, Renfrew County, in Southern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Ottawa River drainage basin and is located in the Madawaska River Valley, with nearby communities of Barry's Bay and Combermere. The lake is known for its simple beauty, with a mixture of forest, and rock and sand beaches.

Combermere/Bonnie Brae Airfield (TC LID: CMB8) is a registered aerodrome located 4.5 nautical miles (8.3 km; 5.2 mi) west northwest of Combermere, Ontario, Canada. The aerodrome is closed between 16 November and 14 April.

Mask Island (formerly Welshman’s Island on patent plans of 1861) is an island located at the northern end of Kamaniskeg Lake in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is near the community of Barry's Bay in Madawaska Valley township, to which it is connected by a causeway. The island was named for Pawel Bronas Mask (1865–1964), a Pole who settled on it in 1918.

Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan is a township in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. It was formed on January 1, 1999, through the merger of Brudenell and Lyndoch Township with Raglan Township.
