Central High School is a multi-campus high school located in Fresno, California. The first campus is known as the West Campus, erected in 1922. The second campus, called the East Campus, opened its doors to students in August 1996. Central High serves grades 9-12 and is part of the Central Unified School District Central Unified is currently constructing a new campus expected to open during the 2021-2022 school year. The new high school will be named after the late Central Football Coach Justin Garza. Justin Garza High School will be a separate school from Central High School in Central Unified. On March 13, 2020, the school shutdown in response to the growing Coronavirus pandemic in the United States. As of December 2020, the school has yet to reopen. For the 2021-2022 school year, it has been announced that the two-campuses will split and become separate high schools. Central East and Justin Garza will be based on school boundaries while students will be able to choose to attend Central High School (formerly West campus)

Highway City is an unincorporated community in Fresno County, California. It is located 2.5 miles (4 km) southeast of Herndon, at an elevation of 299 feet (91 m).A post office opened in Highway City in 1951.A portion of the area has been incorporated in Fresno. It is located near the junction of State Route 99 and Shaw Avenue, one of the main streets of Fresno. The community was once known as Biola Junction. It was bisected by the realignment of US Route 99 which opened in 1960. The Highway City Community Center is located in a small public park just north of Shaw Avenue. The name Highway City was first applied by fig grower J. C. Forkner and was used as a railroad shipping center for his Golden State Highway Fig Gardens concern.

The Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno, California are a series of subterranean structures built by Baldassare Forestiere, an immigrant from Sicily, over a period of 40 years from 1906 to his death in 1946. The gardens are operated by members of the Forestiere family through the Forestiere Historical Center, and can be considered a spectacular and unconventional example of vernacular architecture.

The San Joaquin River Viaduct is a bridge built to carry California High-Speed Rail over the San Joaquin River. Most of the bridge is in the city of Fresno, California, in Fresno County, although the portion north of the center line of the river is in Madera County. It is the second major river crossing built for the high-speed rail line, after the Fresno River Viaduct to the north.The 4,741-foot (1,445 m) bridge combines a double concrete arch span crossing the river with a pergola structure to carry the tracks over Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The river crossing is immediately upstream of the Union Pacific and California State Route 99 bridges.

West Park is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California. It is located 5 miles (8 km) southwest of downtown Fresno, at an elevation of 266 ft (81 m). West Park's population is 1,157.

The Ararat Massis Armenian Cemetery, commonly known as the Ararat Cemetery, is an Armenian cemetery in Fresno, California. Established in 1885, the cemetery is the burial place of many prominent figures of Armenian-American history, including Soghomon Tehlirian, Victor Maghakian, and William Saroyan. The Ararat Massis Cemetery was the only Armenian cemetery built outside Armenia and the Middle East for more than a century.

Captain Victor "Transport" Maghakian (Armenian: Վիգդոր Մաղաքեան; December 30, 1915 – August 17, 1977) was an Armenian-American member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. As a gunnery sergeant, he led his platoon through some of the bloodiest fighting in seven South Pacific campaigns, including the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. Having received over two dozen medals and awards, he is considered one of the most decorated American soldiers of the war.Maghakian served with the 2nd and 4th Marine Divisions and the Raiders. During the Makin Island raid, Maghakian led the charge onto the beachhead with a landing force and fought while suffering a forearm wound. He was awarded with the Navy Cross for his efforts during the raid. Although he was supposed to return home afterward, Maghakian requested to join the Guadalcanal campaign, and was shipped two weeks later. He was again wounded in action. In January 1944, Maghakian volunteered to participate in another assault, against Kwajalein Atoll of the Marshall Islands, in the Battle of Kwajalein. After Kwajalein, Maghakian and the Marines landed on the Eniwetok Atoll in February 1944, and continued to capture several more islands. He took part in the Battle of Tinian and was the one who raised the American flag on the island after its capture. Maghakian was part of a Marine force that captured a Japanese aircraft field during the Battle of Saipan.

KGST (1600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Fresno, California, broadcasting an ethnic radio format. It is owned by Lotus Communications with studios on East Olive Avenue in Fresno. The station uses a brokered programming plan, with shows in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Armenian. KGST is powered at 5,000 watts. By day, it is non-directional. But at night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1600 AM, it uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is off West Church Avenue in the Edison neighborhood of Fresno.

The Kearney Bowl was a dirt oval racing track located in southwest Fresno, California. The track was paved for its final ten years of operation. It was known for midget racing and hosted United States Auto Club National Midget Championship series races as well as NASCAR supermodified hardtop races. In 1970, the entire facility was demolished and a housing complex and a school was built on the site.

KIRV (1510 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a Spanish-language Christian radio format. It is licensed to Fresno, California and is owned by Centro Cristiano Viva Abundante, Inc.By day, KIRV is powered at 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a two-tower array. But 1510 AM is a clear channel frequency, so the station must sign off the air at sunset. This requirement was originally instituted to protect the signal of KGA in Spokane, Washington, a former Class A clear channel station on 1510 kHz.
