KGST (1600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Fresno, California, broadcasting an ethnic radio format. It is owned by Lotus Communications with studios on East Olive Avenue in Fresno. The station uses a brokered programming plan, with shows in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Armenian. KGST is powered at 5,000 watts. By day, it is non-directional. But at night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1600 AM, it uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is off West Church Avenue in the Edison neighborhood of Fresno.

Fresno Municipal Sanitary Landfill in Fresno, California, was the first modern landfill in the U.S., pioneering the use of trenching, compacting, and daily burial to combat rodent and debris problems. It became a model for other landfills around the country, and one of the longest-lived. The landfill was operated by the City of Fresno from 1937 until 1987, when it was closed. At that time, the landfill had reached the size of 145 acres (0.59 km2).

The Kearney Bowl was a dirt oval racing track located in southwest Fresno, California. The track was paved for its final ten years of operation. It was known for midget racing and hosted United States Auto Club National Midget Championship series races as well as NASCAR supermodified hardtop races. In 1970, the entire facility was demolished and a housing complex and a school was built on the site.

Fresno Chandler Executive Airport (IATA: FCH, ICAO: KFCH, FAA LID: FCH) is a public use airport 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the central business district of Fresno, California, United States. It is owned by the City of Fresno and managed by the city’s Airports Division.Chandler Airport opened in November 1929 and served as Fresno’s primary airport for civil and commercial aviation until 1948. Today, Chandler is mostly used by general aviation aircraft and is a designated as a reliever airport for the larger Fresno Yosemite International Airport, located 6.5 miles (10.5 km) northeast which is served by commercial airlines. Sierra Sky Park Airport, a privately owned airport open to the public, that also serves general aviation aircraft, is located 8 miles (13 km) north.

Edison High School is located in Fresno, California, United States, as part of the Fresno Unified School District. It is a public high school located next to Computech Middle School. Edison high school lowest grade 9 highest grade 12. Founded c. 1906, the school was first named Edison Technical High School until a major renovation in the 1960s, when the name became the current Edison High School. In 1982–1983, Irwin Junior High School, located adjacent Edison High School was finally integrated by 1985, forming a larger campus; Edison Computech High School. It is currently a Magnet school in the academic areas of math and science. Academically, it is one of the highest ranked schools in the San Joaquin Valley. It is also competitively ranked among the highest on an academic level among all high schools in the State of California. Edison is also a public school. The school integrates underperforming neighborhood students with magnet students. As of the 2009–10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,326 students and 90.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 25.7. Budget cuts have allowed a wider ratio.

The Ararat Massis Armenian Cemetery, commonly known as the Ararat Cemetery, is an Armenian cemetery in Fresno, California. Established in 1885, the cemetery is the burial place of many prominent figures of Armenian-American history, including Soghomon Tehlirian, Victor Maghakian, and William Saroyan. The Ararat Massis Cemetery was the only Armenian cemetery built outside Armenia and the Middle East for more than a century.

Captain Victor "Transport" Maghakian (Armenian: Վիգդոր Մաղաքեան; December 30, 1915 – August 17, 1977) was an Armenian-American member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. As a gunnery sergeant, he led his platoon through some of the bloodiest fighting in seven South Pacific campaigns, including the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. Having received over two dozen medals and awards, he is considered one of the most decorated American soldiers of the war.Maghakian served with the 2nd and 4th Marine Divisions and the Raiders. During the Makin Island raid, Maghakian led the charge onto the beachhead with a landing force and fought while suffering a forearm wound. He was awarded with the Navy Cross for his efforts during the raid. Although he was supposed to return home afterward, Maghakian requested to join the Guadalcanal campaign, and was shipped two weeks later. He was again wounded in action. In January 1944, Maghakian volunteered to participate in another assault, against Kwajalein Atoll of the Marshall Islands, in the Battle of Kwajalein. After Kwajalein, Maghakian and the Marines landed on the Eniwetok Atoll in February 1944, and continued to capture several more islands. He took part in the Battle of Tinian and was the one who raised the American flag on the island after its capture. Maghakian was part of a Marine force that captured a Japanese aircraft field during the Battle of Saipan.

Brookhaven is a neighborhood in a small pocket of Southwest Fresno (the "West Side") located on the very edge of the city. It is bordered by Jensen Avenue on the north, Annadale Avenue on the south, Martin Luther King on the west Ivy on the east.

Playland is an amusement park in Roeding Park in Fresno, California. It was built in 1955, and it shares the space on the southwest corner of the park with Storyland, its sister park, and Fresno Chaffee Zoo. For most of its history, Playland and Storyland competed with the Zoo for guests, but after years of poor turnout, and the rise of prominence of the Chaffee Zoo, in 2015, Playland and Storyland underwent a massive overhaul and repair project, and the owner of Playland and Storyland, the Fresno Rotary Clubs, decided to collaborate with the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that runs the Chaffee Zoo to offer discounts to encourage guests to visit all three parks.
