Dunmore Abbey

Dunmore (Irish: Dún Mór, meaning 'big fort') is a town in County Galway, Ireland. It is located on the N83 national secondary road at its junction with the R328 and R360 regional roads. The town belongs to an ancient tuath called Conmhaícne Dúna-Móir and Cenél Dubáin, ruled by Uí Conchobair of Ui Briuin Ai from the 12th century, and a capital of Connacht for a time. King Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair died here in 1156. Until the early 1980s, the N83 through Dunmore was on the main road from Sligo to Galway City. Improvements to the N17 route through Knock and Claremorris reduced the amount of traffic on the N83.

Kilkerrin-Clonberne is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Clonberne, County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. They achieved Senior status in 1996 and have competed in the Galway Senior Club Football Championship up until 2015. They were relegated to the Intermediate ranks by a strong Kilconly side. Notable former players include Johnny Geraghty & Christy Tyrell, members of Galway's famous 3 in a row team and John Divilly, a member of Galway's All-Ireland triumph in 1998. In 1999, the Ladies football club in Clonberne won a club All-Ireland.

Barnaderg (Irish: Bearna Dhearg, meaning 'red gap') is a village southeast of Tuam in eastern County Galway, Ireland. Barnaderg Castle was a 16th-century stronghold of the O'Kelly clan.In June 2008, a €1.5m extension was opened at Barnaderg National School, which has 87 pupils. In addition to the development of new classrooms, library, offices and other rooms, refurbishment of the existing building were carried out.

The Holywell ambush was an ambush on the Ballyhaunis to Claremorris road near Holywell in the early hours of Monday, 2 August 1920 carried out by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) during the Irish War of Independence. Approximately 20 local IRA volunteers commanded by Patrick Kenny attacked a British Military outpost that was guarding a broken down lorry.

The Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tuam, commonly called Tuam Cathedral, is the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tuam in Ireland. The geographic remit of the Archdiocese includes half of County Galway, half of County Mayo and part of County Roscommon. Prior to the English Reformation, the diocesan cathedral was St Mary's, which was constructed in the 14th century, on the site of an earlier building. Upon the appointment of William Mullaly by Queen Elizabeth I of England as Archbishop of Tuam for the Established church, the Roman Catholic clergy were dispossessed of the cathedral. Almost three centuries were to elapse before a relaxation of the Penal Laws permitted the building of a replacement – the current edifice.

St Patrick's College (Irish: Coláiste Phadraig Naofa), known as Tuam Christian Brothers School until 1990, was a Roman Catholic secondary school for boys in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. The college was named after St Patrick, as the foundation stone of the school was laid on St Patrick's Day, 17 March 1860. The school was amalgamated with nearby St Jarlath's College in 2009, to form the new St Jarlath's College.

The Archdiocese of Tuam ( TEW-əm; Irish: Ard-Deoise Thuama) is an Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese of the Catholic Church located in western Ireland. The archdiocese is led by the Archbishop of Tuam, who serves as pastor of the mother church, the Cathedral of the Assumption and Metropolitan of the Metropolitan Province of Tuam. According to tradition, the "Diocese of Tuam" was established in the 6th century by St. Jarlath. The ecclesiastical province, roughly co-extensive with the secular province of Connacht, was created in 1152 by the Synod of Kells. The incumbent Ordinary is Francis Duffy.
