Warinanco Park

Lenape Park is a 450-acre wildlife reserve and park that is part of the Rahway River Parkway in Union County, New Jersey. The park is located in four towns: Westfield, Springfield, Kenilworth, and Cranford. It is linked by a crosswalk to Nomahegan Park. The park encompasses stretches of both the Rahway River and Nomahegan Brook, and comprises one of the largest undeveloped properties in the Rahway River watershed. Lenape refers to the Native Americans who occupied the region; the names "Rahway" and "Nomahegan" are derivative of their language.An approximately 4.5-mile off-road paved pedestrian path stretches eastbound from Mountainside Police Headquarters in Mountainside, through Echo Lake Park in Westfield, Lenape Park in Westfield and Cranford, Black Brook Park in Kenilworth, and ending near 505 North Michigan Avenue in Kenilworth. The East Coast Greenway traverses the park. The French-Richards Burying Ground, which was established in 1724, abuts the park.A small section of woodland trail exists behind Lenape Park pond.

The Union County Park Commission Administration Buildings are located in Warinanco Park in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Administration Building and the Service Building were built in 1924-1925 in the Tudor Revival style soon after the establishment of the commission. They were listed on the state (#2675) and the federal (# 85002976) registers of historic places in 1985.In April 1921, Superior Court Justice James J. Bergen was petitioned to appoint a temporary committee to study the feasibility of a parks commission. On April 30, a temporary commission was named and given $10,000.00 and two years to complete the study. Within five months, the group finished the study and returned $8,391.00 of the funds. The emphasis of the report was to move quickly, before the available open space was gone. On the November 8, 1921, ballot, voters were asked to approve a permanent five-member Park Commission and $2.5 million to be spent at the commission's discretion.The Union County Department of Parks and Recreation now comprises 36 parks that encompass nearly 6,200 acres, including Elizabeth River Parkway, Passaic River Parkway, Rahway River Parkway, Warinanco Park, and Watchung Reservation

Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy, commonly known as RTMA or JEC High School, is a Yeshiva high school located in Elizabeth, New Jersey and a branch of the Jewish Educational Center. Founded in 1955 by Rabbi Pinchas Mordechai Teitz, RTMA adheres to the tenets and practices of Orthodox Judaism. It is one of the country's earliest and leading Modern Orthodox Yeshiva high schools. RTMA's dual curriculum offers courses in Torah studies, as well as college preparatory academics. Most of its students reside in the Orthodox Jewish communities of New Jersey and New York. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 2008 and is accredited until January 2024.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 145 students and 26.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 5.6:1. The school's student body was 100% White.

The Jewish Educational Center is an eighty-year-old yeshiva school located in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grades. Throughout the day the student curriculum consists of Judaic and secular studies. JEC, as it is commonly known, is run by its dean, Rabbi Elazar Mayer Teitz. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 2008 and is accredited until January 2024. The Jewish Educational Center also includes the Jewish communities of Elizabeth and Hillside, including five synagogues, a mikveh and a cemetery. The school includes three divisions: JEC Lower School: Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade for boys, Pre-Kindergarten to 6th grade for girls, founded in 1939. Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy (RTMA) : 6th to 12th grade for boys, founded in 1955. The Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy had an enrollment of 190 students and 21.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a ratio of 9.0:1. Most of these are only primarily offered to juniors and seniors. Each year over 90% of the Senior class studies for a year or two in yeshivas in Israel before beginning college. Roselle (, row-ZELL) is a borough located in Union County in the U.S. state of in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 22,695, an increase of 1,610 (+7.6%) from the 2010 census count of 21,085, which in turn reflected a decline of 189 (−0.9%) from the 21,274 counted in the 2000 census.On January 19, 1883, the world's first electric lighting system employing overhead wires began service in Roselle. It had been built by Thomas Edison to demonstrate that an entire community could be illuminated by electricity. This success encouraged the installation of electric lighting in numerous other villages and cities. The First Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of West 5th Avenue and Chestnut Street, was the first church in the United States to be lit by electricity, and the second in the world after the City Temple church in London.Roselle was incorporated on December 20, 1894, at the height of the Boroughitis phenomenon sweeping through New Jersey at the time, based on the results of a referendum held two days earlier, from portions of Linden. Roselle's name is derived from the Roselle Land Improvement Company, which was created in 1866 to lay out a community around the Mulford Station on the Central Railroad of New Jersey. The name "Roselle" is said to have been based on the company's founder, John Conklin Rose or from John Pierre Roselle, a friend of the railroad's president.

Linden Yard is the name of two separate railroad freight yards in Linden, New Jersey, United States. One is owned by the Staten Island Railway (SIR) and the other is managed by Conrail Shared Assets Operations along the Northeast Corridor (NEC) right of way.

Abraham Clark High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from the borough of Roselle, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Roselle Public Schools. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1932 and is accredited until July 2024. The school is named for Abraham Clark, a Revolutionary War figure and signer of the Declaration of Independence. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 821 students and 72.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.4:1. There were 354 students (43.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 18 (2.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.In 2010, the school was one of 12 in New Jersey to receive a School Improvement Grant, under which the district was to be given $3.8 million over three years as part of a transformation plan that will lengthen the school day, update the curriculum with integrated technology and shift eighth graders out of the school beginning in September 2011.

Elizabeth Borough was a borough that existed in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, from 1740 until 1855. Elizabeth was established as a borough by Royal Charter on February 8, 1740, and was rechartered by the New Jersey Legislature on November 28, 1789.Portions of the borough were taken to form Union Township (November 23, 1808) and Clinton Township (April 14, 1834).On March 13, 1855, the City of Elizabeth was created, consolidating Elizabeth Borough and Elizabeth Township. With the creation of the City of Elizabeth, Elizabeth Township was dissolved.

Alexander Hamilton Preparatory Academy (abbreviated as AHPA) is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of Elizabeth Public Schools. The academy accepts students in ninth through twelfth grades in Elizabeth who have passed the requirements for enrollment. The academy is operated by the Elizabeth Board of Education. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2013. The school's college-preparatory curriculum prepares students for four-year colleges and universities. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 961 students and 62.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.4:1. There were 492 students (51.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 103 (10.7% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Roselle–Roselle Park is a former Central Railroad of New Jersey and Conrail station on the border of Roselle and Roselle Park. Located at the junction of East First Street and Chestnut Avenue in Roselle, the station served both communities along the Main Line.

The New Jersey Academy of Science (NJAS) is a private, nonprofit society of scientists and others interested in science, with a membership of about 400 individuals in academia, government, and industry. The academy also includes college students who are pursuing both graduate and undergraduate degrees in the senior academy, as well as high school students in the junior academy. Founded in 1954, the NJAS is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the National Academy of Sciences and works with the New Jersey state government to stimulate education and scientific research throughout the state. The NJAS is headquartered at Kean University in Union, New Jersey.

On December 16, 1951, a Miami Airlines Curtiss C-46 Commando airliner crashed in the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, shortly after taking off from nearby Newark Airport. All 56 people on board were killed. At the time, it was the second-deadliest aviation accident on US soil, behind Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 2501.
