The club's hurling team currently competes in the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship having been relegated from the Cork Senior A Hurling Championship in 2023. The club's Gaelic football team competes in the Cork Premier Senior Football Championship having won the Cork Senior A Football Championship in 2021.

The Buttevant Rail Disaster was a train crash that occurred on 1 August 1980 at Buttevant Railway Station, County Cork, in Ireland, 220 kilometres (137 mi) from Dublin on the main line to Cork. More than 70 people were injured, and 18 died, in one of Ireland's worst rail disasters.

Ballybeg Priory (Irish: Prióireacht an Bhaile Bhig), also known as Ballybeg Abbey, the Abbey of St Thomas, and St Thomas's Priory, is a 13th-century priory of the Augustinian order near the town of Buttevant, County Cork, Ireland. It is home to one of the best preserved and most substantial dovecots in Ireland. The priory was founded in 1229 and dissolved in 1541, the land and buildings passing into private hands. Those parts of the buildings that have escaped from the stone being removed for use in other buildings are mostly late medieval. Along with Bridgetown Priory near Castletownroche, Ballybeg priory is one of only two substantial Augustinian monasteries in County Cork.The abbey, dovecot, and nearby tower known both as Ballybeg Castle and as Ballybeg Tower, are collectively considered a National Monument in State Care (#301).

Pronounced locally as "Ballinguyroo"), North and South are rural townlands of Farahy in the southern foothills of the Ballyhoura Mountains in north County Cork, Ireland. The local economy is largely agriculture and forestry.The area came into prominence as the proposed location by the Greenstar company for its planned dump - a proposal defeated by the locality at An Bord Pleanála in 2004 and 2008.

New Twopothouse (Irish: Tigh Nua an Dá Phota) is a small village and census town in County Cork, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of Caherduggan, on the N20 road between Mallow and Buttevant. The area takes its name from an 18th century coaching inn, the "Two-Pot House Inn", which was (in turn) reputedly named for two large beer "pots" which were placed outside the inn. In the 19th century, when a newer Cork to Limerick road (now the N20) was built, a coaching stop was opened and it was named "New Two-Pot-House" to distinguish it from the coaching stop on the older road.The local Roman Catholic church, St. Joseph the Worker church, is in the neighbouring townland of Twoposthouse (sometimes known as Old Twopothouse) and was built c. 1925. The national (primary) school in New Twopothouse, Baltydaniel National School, had 209 pupils enrolled as of 2019.New Twopothouse was designated as a census town by the Central Statistics Office for the first time in the 2016 census, at which time it had a population of 120 people.

Carron Mountain (Irish: Carn Fhearadaigh) is a mountain 440m high on the border of County Limerick and County Cork, Ireland. It is part of the Ballyhoura Mountains. Carron is home to the North Cork transmitter for the UPC MMDS service.

The Killavullen Caves are limestone caves near the village of Killavullen in County Cork, Ireland. They are situated on the south bank of the River Blackwater at Killavullen Bridge.The caves have been known to local people for hundreds of years, and have been inhabited at various times during their history. Some of them were inhabited when Irish antiquary Thomas Crofton Croker visited in the early 19th century: "...the road winds round a mass of steep limestone rock, in which are natural caverns, used as habitations by the peasantry. One of these was the dwelling of the village smith, the light from whose forge threw a broad and vivid reflection across the road, that lay in the solemnity of deep shadow." The caves are particularly notable for the large number of archaeological and palaeontological remains discovered within. Excavations in one of the caves in 1934 revealed the remains of Irish Elk, brown bear, wolf and reindeer and further excavations produced a human skull.The caves were closed to the public in the early 1990s, with steel doors put in place to prevent access. Public liability reasons were cited at the time of closure.
