Bayan Baru is a town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located within the Southwest Penang Island District, adjacent to the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone. The township was created in the 1970s following the establishment of the zone. Since then, Bayan Baru has evolved into a booming neighbourhood, with various commercial and retail developments.

Muze @ PICC is a residential complex within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at the township of Bayan Baru, it consists of a pair of skyscrapers, Block A and Block B, with 52 and 58 stories respectively. Block B, in particular, stands at a height of 205.5 m (674 ft), making it the third tallest skyscraper within the city of George Town as of 2023.Built by local developer Hunza Group, both towers contain a total of 846 residential units. Muze forms a residential component of the Penang International Commercial City (PICC) and is the first to be completed; the wider 43-acre (170,000 m2) PICC, dubbed as Penang's answer to the KLCC, entails an integrated mixed-use precinct comprising residential, retail, commercial, hospitality and medical components.

Established in 1997, Pantai Hospital Penang (formerly known as Hospital Pantai Mutiara) is a 190 bedded specialist hospital in the satellite town of Bayan Baru, Penang, Malaysia. Pantai Hospital Penang offers services in Radiotherapy & Oncology, Cardiology, Dentistry, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. It also houses the only Stroke Center in the Northern Region. The hospital has 49 full-time specialist doctors, 15 sessional and 6 visiting specialist doctors. New facilities and services such as the recent additions - Urology, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, Stroke Centre, Interventional Radiology, Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) – are part of the hospital.

The SPICE Arena is an indoor arena located in the township of Bayan Baru in Penang, Malaysia. It serves as Penang's main indoor sports centre as well as the preferred venue within the city-state for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).Originally named the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA), the complex initially consisted of an indoor arena and a swimming centre. Since its completion in 2000, PISA has hosted national and international sports events, including the 2000 Sukma Games, the 2001 Southeast Asian Games and the 2013 Women's World Open Squash Championship. Between 2011 and 2017, PISA underwent major renovation works conducted by S P Setia, a major Malaysian property developer. The refurbished indoor arena, renamed as the SPICE Arena, is now supplemented in its role as a MICE venue by the new RM284 million SPICE Convention & Exhibition Centre. In addition, the renovation project included the upgrading of the swimming centre, now known as the SPICE Aquatic Centre, which was completed in 2016.

Bukit Jambul is a residential neighbourhood within the Northeast Penang Island District, Penang, Malaysia. Located 9.9 km (6.2 mi) southwest of the centre of George Town, the capital city of Penang, Bukit Jambul is also adjacent to the industrial town of Bayan Lepas to the south.

The Mutiara LRT Line (English: Pearl) is a light rail transit (LRT) system under development in Penang. The 29.5 km (18.3 mi) line will connect George Town's city centre with its southern suburbs of Jelutong, Gelugor and Bayan Lepas, with a link towards Seberang Perai across the Penang Strait. The first domestic LRT line outside the Klang Valley, the Mutiara line is a component of the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) and comprises 21 stations. Once completed, it will be owned by the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp). Construction of the line began in 2025 and will be completed by 2031. The line was previously known as the Bayan Lepas line, introduced by the Penang state government in 2015 as part of the PTMP. The plan envisaged a light metro system along George Town's heavily urbanised eastern shoreline in a north-south axis, with an extension towards Silicon Island. It received conditional approval from the Malaysian federal government in 2019, and construction was scheduled to begin in 2020 amidst overwhelming public support. However, construction was repeatedly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and a nationwide political crisis which resulted in a withdrawal of support by successive governments of different political coalitions. After the general election of 2022, the Malaysian federal government expedited development of the rapid transit line with additional funding, before fully taking over the project from the Penang state government. The line was re-designated and its alignment was substantially redesigned to its present state, which added a cross-strait link from George Town to Seberang Perai.

The Snake Temple (Chinese: 蛇庙; pinyin: Shé Miào; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tsuâ-biō), also known as the Temple of the Azure Clouds, is a Chinese temple within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at Bayan Lepas, the temple is well-known for being a refuge of resident snakes, said to be reincarnated disciples of the deified Buddhist monk Master Qingshui, to whom the temple is dedicated.Devotees from as far away as Singapore, Taiwan and China come to pray in the temple on the monk's birthday (the sixth day of the first lunar month). It was also featured during the 8th leg of The Amazing Race 16 and become a backdrop of Tan Twan Eng's novel "The Gift of Rain" (book 1, chapter 4).

Sungai Ara is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located within the Southwest Penang Island District, adjacent to the town of Bayan Lepas. Sungai Ara also borders Relau to the north and Bayan Baru to the east.

Phor Tay High School (Chinese: 菩提国民型华文中学 ; Malay: Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Phor Tay) or SMJK Phor Tay is a public, Buddhist, co-educational high school, located in Sungai Dua, Penang. It is the only Buddhist secondary school, where Buddhist education is a compulsory subject for all Buddhist students of the school, in Malaysia.Phor Tay High School was previously an all-girls school. It was officially converted to a co-educational school after its relocation from Jalan Bagan Jermal in 2009.

Sungai Dua is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located 8.7 km (5.4 mi) south of the city centre, this neighbourhood borders Universiti Sains Malaysia to the north, Sungai Nibong to the east and Bukit Jambul to the west.

Sungai Nibong is a residential neighbourhood near the eastern coast of Penang Island in Malaysia, about 8.6 km (5.3 mi) south of the centre of George Town, Penang's capital city. The neighbourhood, within the Northeast Penang Island and Southwest Penang Island District, was named after the rivers flowing through the area. Sungai Nibong is best known as the site of the annual Penang Island Festival, more popularly called 'Pesta Pulau Pinang' in Malay. The area is also home to the main interstate bus terminal for Penang Island, which is used by travelers commuting into and out of the island city from various parts of Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Queensbay Mall is the largest shopping mall in Penang, Malaysia. Located in Bayan Lepas, the building was completed in early July 2006 and was opened to the public in December 2006. The mall covers a gross built-up area of 2,500,000 sq ft (230,000 m2) and contains over 400 shop lots spread out over five floors, attracting several established international brands. Its main anchor tenant is AEON and a Golden Screen Cinema complex is housed within its top floor. The mall has basement parking and multilevel parking lot for shoppers. Since its opening in 2006, Queensbay Mall has become one of the major retail centres in Penang, competing directly against more established shopping malls within the state like Gurney Plaza. Notably, both Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza are managed by CapitaMalls Asia, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based CapitaLand.The location of Queensbay Mall was previously an abandoned site of the Bayan Bay Mall Project. It was developed by Bayan Bay Development Sdn Bhd, which was 70% owned by Anson Perdana Bhd and 30% by Penang Development Corporation. After Anson Perdana Bhd fell into financial distress in 1998 following the 1997 Asian financial crisis and became defunct, CP Group led by executive chairman Tan Chew Piau intervened in 2003 and revived the project, which got its present name.
