Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation 33A is a First Nations reserve near the shores of Lake Simcoe. It is one of three reserves of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is an enclave within Georgina, Ontario, surrounded by the unincorporated community of Virginia Beach. It is separated from the mainland portion of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation reserve by Black River Road and the private properties along it.

The Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation (Ojibwe: Waaseyaagmiing Anishinaabek) are an Ojibwa (or Anishinaabeg) people located on Georgina Island in Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. In 2008, of the First Nation's registered population of 666 people, 181 lived on, and 485 lived outside, their reserve. As of 2020, the band has a total population of 923 members. They are one of a handful of First Nations in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area.

The Briars is an Ontario lakeside resort located in the Jackson's Point area of Georgina, Ontario. Portions of the resort are protected by an Ontario Heritage Trust conservation easement. The Manor House and the Peacock House are the protected sections; this excludes the rear (west) elevation and the landscaped grounds to the east of the Manor House.

Sutton is a suburban community located nearly 2 km south of Lake Simcoe in Ontario, Canada. The community was formerly a village but is now part of the Town of Georgina after amalgamation with it and North Gwillimbury in 1971. The Black River runs on the north end of the downtown. Highway 48 goes just south of the downtown. Sutton has a population of just over 6,000 people. Sutton is located about 1 hour north of Toronto.Sutton has a population of 5,938 (2011), which is a -1.4% decrease since 2006.

CFGI-FM is a Canadian radio station, airing at 92.3 FM in Georgina Island, Ontario. Licensed by the CRTC in 2001, the station airs a community radio format for the area's First Nations community. The station originally began broadcasting at 102.7 FM. On March 15, 2013, the CRTC approved the station's application to move from 102.7, to 92.3 MHz, and by increasing the ERP from 250 to 650 watts on a non-directional antenna, and the EHAAT from 19.3 to 24 metres. The frequency change was in response to CFGI-FM being first-adjacent to a new radio station, ZoomerMedia's CFMO-FM in nearby Collingwood, which would have caused significant interference between the two stations. In response to this, ZoomerMedia entered into an agreement with Georgina Island First Nations, in which ZoomerMedia agreed to supply CFGI-FM with new transmitting equipment, refurbish its transmitting antenna and cover the costs related to preparing applications for the CRTC.

Sutton District High School is a public high school in the York Region District School Board with approximately 500 students. It is located in Sutton, Ontario, Canada and serves Grade 9 to 12 students. It is the primary secondary school for most communities in the town of Georgina, including Sutton West, Pefferlaw, and Udora. It had previously served the town's largest community, Keswick, but this changed with the opening of Keswick High School in 2000.

Georgina Island (Ojibwe: Waaseyaagmiing) is the largest of the lake islands of Lake Simcoe, located in southern Ontario, Canada. The island is a Native reserve populated by the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation, a band of Ojibwa people. It is also within the Town of Georgina and in the Regional Municipality of York. Before the completion of the Trent–Severn Waterway, the water level on Lake Simcoe was low enough to enable residents to cross in wagons or walk in ankle-deep water to the mainland, at Virginia Beach, Ontario. After the Trent Severn Waterway was completed, the water level increased enough to submerge traditional farmlands and to require a boat for crossing to the mainland.Pope John Paul II stayed on neighbouring Strawberry Island for four days just before World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto.The island is reached by a ferry in summer and an airboat in winter. On the coldest days of winter Lake Simcoe is cold enough for an ice road to be built allowing light vehicles to drive across the frozen lake. The Women's Support Network of York Region has worked with the First Nations of Georgina Island.
