Loughrea branch line

Dunsandle railway station opened in 1890 as the only intermediate station on the Loughrea & Attymon branch line. It closed on 3 November 1975. As of 2000 the station and its surrounds and associated rolling stock are privately owned.

The Turoe stone is a granite stone decorated in a Celtic style located in the village of Bullaun, County Galway, Ireland, 6 km north of Loughrea off the R350 regional road. It probably dates to about the period 100 BC to 100 AD. The stone is positioned in a covered protective structure on the lawn in front of Turoe House, set in a concrete base surrounded by a metal cattle grill. The Turoe stone is National Monument of Ireland Nr. 327 (NM#327)

Clostoken or Cloghastookeen is a small townland in the civil parish of Kilconickny, near the town of Loughrea in County Galway, Ireland. It takes its name from an old ruined castle.

Bullaun (Irish: An Bollán) is a village in east County Galway, Ireland. It lies 6 km northeast of Loughrea on the R350 regional road. It shares its parish with a village called New Inn. The townland of Lakafinna, to the south of Bullaun, contains the local water scheme and an old castle. According to local folklore, an unused tunnel runs from the castle to a point close to a house in Ballyara. The river which flows through Bullaun previously contained quantities of fresh water salmon. These salmon stocks have, however, been impacted by overfishing and pollution.The village also contains St Patrick's church, a pub called the Harbour Bar and is home to the Corcoran's Turoe stone. The home ground for the Sarsfields GAA team is in Bullaun.

Sarsfields Galway is a GAA club consisting of the parish of Bullaun, New Inn and Woodlawn in East County Galway, Ireland. Winners of two All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship's.The club was founded in 1966 and is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. And in 2016 Sarsfields Hurling Club celebrated its 50th year. Sarsfields Galway were the first club to defend their All-Ireland Club Hurling title. In 1993 Sarsfields defeated opponents Kilmallock, County Limerick in their first All-Ireland club final. In 1994, Sarsfields retained their club title with a victory over Toomevara, County Tipperary.

The Claregalway Friary (Irish: Mainistir Bhaile Chláir) is a ruined medieval Franciscan abbey in Claregalway, County Galway, Ireland. The abbey site features an east-facing, cruciform church (minus a south transept) with a 24-metre (80 ft) bell tower. The ruins of the living quarters and cloister are situated to the south of the church building.

The former water tower has been preserved, incorporated into the new industrial unit adjacent to the former station.

Loughrea is the fourth most populous settlement in County Galway, with a population of 6,322 as of 2022.

Attymon railway station (Irish: Stáisiún Áth Tíomáin) serves the townland of Attymon in County Galway, Ireland. The station is on the Dublin to Galway Rail service. Passengers to or from Westport railway station travel to Athlone and change trains. Passengers to or from Limerick and Ennis travel to Athenry and change trains.
