Gloucester Catholic High School is a co-educational six-year Roman Catholic high school located in Gloucester City, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States, operating under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden. The school serves students in seventh through twelfth grades. Gloucester Catholic High School has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1991. In January 2021, Principal Edward Beckett resigned, bringing in Assistant Principal Thomas Iacovone as Interim Principal As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 510 students and 46.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.9:1. The school's student body was 80.0% (408) White, 5.9% (30) Hispanic, 4.7% (24) Black, 4.5% (23) Asian, 3.5% (18) two or more races, 0.8% (4) American Indian / Alaska Native and 0.6% (3) Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander. The school serves students who feed into the high school from 50 different parochial and public schools within the Diocese of Camden.For the class of 2017, 90% of the students went on to college (56% to 4-year institutions, and 34% to 2-year institutions), while 10% into the military, trade schools or the workforce. Scholarship and grant money awarded to this class totaled over $14 million.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 11,456, reflecting a decline of 28 (-0.2%) from the 11,484 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 1,165 (-9.2%) from the 12,649 counted in the 1990 Census. It is located directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia and the Port of Philadelphia. Gloucester City was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 25, 1868, from the remaining portions of Union Township, which was then dissolved. Additional territory was annexed in 1925 from Centre Township and in 1927 from Haddon Township. The city's name derives from Gloucester, England.Gloucester City is known for its Irish American population, which was ninth-highest in the United States by percentage in the 2000 Census.The city had the 23rd-highest property tax rate in New Jersey, with an equalized rate of 4.343% in 2020, compared to 3.470% in the county as a whole and a statewide average of 2.279%.

Gloucester Point Grounds is a former baseball ground located in Gloucester City, New Jersey. The ground, roughly bounded by the present day streets: 5th St, Jersey Ave, 7th St, Charles St, and Pine St and then located just behind Thompson's Hotel, along a creek, was the part-time home to the Philadelphia Athletics of the American Association from 1888 to 1890.

Gloucester City Water Works Engine House is located in Gloucester City, Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1883 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 30, 1998.

Centre Township was a township that existed in Camden County, New Jersey, United States, from 1855 through 1926. Centre Township was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 6, 1855, from portions of the now-defunct Union Township: "Beginning in the middle of Great Timber Creek at the mouth of the southerly branch of Little Timber Creek; thence along the middle of Little Timber Creek to a point where the old King’s Highway crossed the same; thence northerly along the highway to the southwest corner of Cedar Grove Cemetery and corner of James H. Brick’s land; thence along said line and by the lands of Aaron H. Hurley, crossing the Mt. Ephraim Road to the corner of the lands of John Brick, deceased; thence along the lands of Brick and John C. Champion and John R. Brick to Newton Creek, on the line of Newton Township; thence eastwardly by Newton Creek, on the line of Union and Newton, until it strikes the line of the townships of Union and Delaware; thence up the same to Burrough’s Bridge; thence on the middle of the highway and on boundary line between the townships of Union and Gloucester to Clements Bridge, on the Great Timber Creek; thence down the middle of the said creek to the place of beginning." Over the years, portions of Centre Township were taken to create several new municipalities: Haddon Heights on March 2, 1904 (also portions of Haddon Township) Magnolia on April 14, 1915 (also portions of Clementon) Barrington on March 27, 1917 Tavistock on February 16, 1921 Brooklawn on March 11, 1924 Bellmawr on March 23, 1926 Mount Ephraim on March 23, 1926 Runnemede on March 23, 1926 Lawnside on March 24, 1926 (also portions of Barrington)With the creation of Lawnside, Centre Township was officially dissolved.

Burke which are now referred to as "SDA Districts" based on the requirement for the state to cover all costs for school building and renovation projects in these districts under the supervision of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 587 students and 46.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.6:1. There were 303 students (51.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 41 (7.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Students from Brooklawn attend the high school for grades 9-12 as part of a sending/receiving relationship.

Big Timber Creek is a 5.6-mile-long (9.0 km) stream in southwestern New Jersey, United States, and is also known by the name "Tetamekanchz Kyl" by the Lenape tribes. It drains a watershed of 63 square miles (160 km2). A tributary of the Delaware River, it enters the Delaware between the boroughs of Brooklawn and Westville, just south of Gloucester City and across from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main stream and South Branch form about half of the border between Camden and Gloucester counties. Pre-Columbian Big Timber Creek was home to numerous villages of the Lenni Lenape. In colonial times, the creek was a commercial waterway, and it powered a multitude of mills up through the 1950s. In the second half of the 20th century it suffered the ill effects of the rapid post–World War II development that plagued many of America's waterways. As of 2007, it had recovered somewhat, thanks to pollution controls and improvements in sewage treatment.
